That was a really experienced Magnum player. I'm getting somewhat close to that, but still really far. The thing is, if you use Magnum and play on 1-2 maps 100% of the time, you will get really good at getting the angle and power just right. In fact, some players (like the guy you met) might go as far as writing down the angles and power values on a piece of paper and/or memorising them to be able to hit every single spot on the map with pin-point accuracy. I made a map like that for Stadium, and when I used Magnum there, I was unstoppable :D

Here's the map, in case you're interested:

OUlXlrj.jpgAll values are 100%, with the exception of 2 at the flag points.

Although I will agree that the power and splash radius of Magnum is extremely high, and the difficulty in aiming and lack of turret rotation does not compensate enough for it.

Wow! That explained very well.   Btw is it you Maf who memorized all this and made this map?

Yeah, I said in the post: "I made a map..."

Wasn't that hard. I just went on a private Stadium map and spent about 10 minutes shooting at different locations, choosing the best angle and writing it down.

Nice! Great Job :D

I spent a lot of time figuring this gun out, and I can say that I mastered it.
There are practically no misses anymore and that's what makes this gun so powerful, it's highly overpowered.
With around 50 hours on my alt, I know which angle to use at short and longer ranges, I memorized all the best camps spots on specific maps and know which angle and charge rate I need to use to make every single shot count and totally obliterate enemy passages and hide spots.

A Magnum user also needs to make use of the camera.. more than every other turret.

I fear that the gun is going to be severely nerfed right when everyone has invested a proper amount of crystals in this gun.
It's unfair to introduce a weapon with this kind of splash damage in combination with the special controls... one is able to hit enemies on every possible location. When this nerf happens, I think it'll be severly underpowered to compensate for all that time that Magnum ruled the battlefield, which makes it kinda unfair for the people who bought it aswell. But these are just speculations.

What I'm getting at, is that it sure takes skill, but I was suprised how fast I was able to learn the controls. I developed some sort of feeling for the charge rate aswell, I absolutely suck if I don't play with sound on, because I carefully listen to the sound that the charge-up makes. I believe the turret is more feeling than pure skill. There will be more and more Magnum users figuring out the controls and will continue to distort gameplay.

On another account, I have trouble hitting the top of one of the fortresses in brest when I'm on top of the other fortress, since it takes so Damn long to charge from 0% to 100%.

Wish they would make an alteration that reduces the charge time from 3 to 2 seconds.

Basically everyone above me stated what I would say. It relies on experience with the turret. I can land almost Evey shot I put out with most of my turrets except Striker but then again I hardly ever play with it .

Why do you practice on unusual maps? xd

Because Stadium seemed like the perfect map to try Magnum. And it was.

Couldn't have said it better, especially protection modules that include Magmum are quite ''bad'' compared to others so having or using a protection module against it will weaken you i a way that most likely you will have a bit of hard time with the other Turrets.

We need product kits with protection modules against Magnum. Many get their modules from the product kits.

I think that it should reduce its charging time from 3 seconds to 2 seconds.

That way it won't take so long to charge it to 50% or higher, and it will make it much harder to hit an enemy that is on the floor below you.

Great idea - why don't you post to I&S?

And since others have mentioned modules - we need a Thunder Striker Magnum module. (Unless I am mistaken and it's out there). Nickname it the Splash Damage module :D

Magnum needs and will get a nerf. Has to. Right now a couple of good magnum players can dominate a game and I don't think any turret should be able to dominate the whole game.

I've seen this happen with each new turret. It's overpowered, dominates the battle, a lot of players buy them. When some are getting up to M3 and M4, the turret is nerfed.

When half of the members of a team use a certain turret it's a clear sign this turret needs a nerf. Probably people haven't spent enough yet and devs are still waiting a bit more before nerfing it.

Yep. I reached the very same conclusions. It is not at all "hard" to use the controls it's just different. If anything it's easy. That is why now you see Magnums on medium or light hulls just driving around dribbling shells out their barrels as they drive into a knot of enemy. Magnum is the biggest punk noob weapon ever. Just drive and woodpecker your spacebar.

No. For God's sake no.

Yep thet's the clearest sign. Most gamers flock to the latest bit of OP gear.

Magnum is definitely making the game less fun. Magnum isn't alone in this - it is the sudden multiplication of splash damage weapons really - but Magnum is the biggest culprit. It simply is no fun fying over and over to an enemy you cannot see and cannt shot at if you do know where they are.

A few months ago there were two weapons that could attack you without seeing you: Thunder and Rico. Now there are 6: Thunder and Rico, plys Twins, Hammer, Striker, and Magnum. Before 2 of 11 could kill you while you were under cover now 6 /13 or nearly half can do so.

The game was about maneuver, cover, timing and aiming. Now it is about splash damage. The kings of the game can kill the silly little target-class tanks what with their sill need to actually see and aim at their enemies.

The rest of the player base will figure this out soon enough. The magnum players are starting to figure out how to explot the massive advantages of their hull.

I wish this turret had never been considered much less developed. It's ruining game play.

couldn't agree more.

Magnum and Striker has encouraged more camping which has made some maps less fun, Highland used to be good for TDM, great for two teams duking it out but now teams just park a bunch of Magnum, Striker, Rail and Shaft on each end and everyone in the middle gets blown up. It's not as bad for some other maps, don't stay in one place too long and you won't get hit too often. Rico is really good for throwing off Magnum's aim at close range.

Like I said before, if anything could make magnum OP, it would be some sort of camera cheat. On another account, I use Q and E keys for camera control, and that alone won't make it OP.

Definetly agree with this. Some guy using Magnum managed to get up the wall that's often used for parkour, stood behind a wall and just spawnkilled us. Noone could get him since he was hidden.
