Magnum hasn't been around for long; it was released on the 23rd March, 2017 along with a giveaway. It's just been ten-fifteen days since its launch, but the treasures have already been opened, the shadows have been illuminated, the dark has been lighted and the dust has been blown.

Ladies and gentlemen... The Flying Parkourists and Fight & Flight bring you - in a collaboration - a video like none other the Tanki world has ever seen. In only seven days, they not only completely understood the sophisticated variables of Magnum, but produced a parkour video involving this complex turret. That's one achievement to be really proud of!

In this article, I shall go deep down in the video, dissecting it on my way up. So without further ado, lets enjoy some parkour with Magnum.

Note: This article contains a lot of media (GIFs, videos and images), so its better if you give it a minute or two to load properly.

- A General Overview of Magnum -

Now, Magnum, unlike any other turret, is a long-range, heavy-firing, born-to-destroy turret — much like the real life artillery. Its shape has been designed so that it does resemble a howitzer cannon, or an artillery gun. Everything from its explosion to its muzzle flash resemble its real life counterpart.

The looks of Magnum are as under:

Turret_magnum_m0.png  Turret_magnum_m1.png  Turret_magnum_m2.png  Turret_magnum_m3.png
Magnum M0
Magnum M1
                     Magnum M2                     Magnum M3

I'm sure you all are very familiar with this turret by now; for example, its vertical rotation, no horizontal plane and so on. Its features can be listed into some points, which I have compiled below:

  • Magnum can be rotated only vertically, that is, horizontal rotation with Magnum is impossible.
  • The shot it fires can be controlled by a series of angles and percentages of power.
  • A shot can follow a high path, a straight path or a parabolic one; illustrated here.
  • The highest range achieved with Magnum (a 45 degree shot with 100% power) is far too much for any Tanki map. Running out of range is not be worried of.
  • Its damage is exceptionally high, but it is countered with its missing horizontal plane and slow reload.
  • Needs incredible sense of timing and accuracy. Battle awareness is also important.
  • As of now, Magnum is the only turret that can shoot while being behind cover all the time.
  • The point above is neutralized by the ability of Shaft to be able to kill a Magnum by shooting its barrel.
  • The highest shot (a 90 degree shot with 100% power) goes higher than the sky kill-zone, and is impossible to see in tank-view. By using Spectator, it looks somewhat like this. The lowest shot (a 0 degree shot with a tap of the 'Spacebar') has no use, since the projectile doesn't get enough lift to cover a safe distance.
  • Magnum is the second turret that sports animation. This is its retracting hydraulic barrel. Vulcan was first given this feature in the form of a spinning barrel whenever it starts to fire.

Now that we've gone over the general features, lets jump into the actual article.

- Parkouring With Magnum: What to Know? -

You can't actually go into a battle, equip Magnum and pull off a trick as soon as you spawn. No, its not that easy. There are thousands – well maybe not thousands, but a minimum of five-ten variables that you have to understand and then master in order to achieve perfection.

But how come TFP and F&F did it in seven days? Didn't they learn and master these 'variables' first? Probably hax!

Umm... no. Aptly said, these guys have been doing parkour ever since they signed up for the game. For years, they have literally been parkouring and inventing new techniques and methods for us. If its any consolation, I think these guys can conquer any given building, blindfolded.

Below I have listed some elements that one needs to fully get a grip on before parkouring with Magnum:

The Angles:

Control of the angles is a necessary thing. But learning the trajectory of the projectile at each angle is also important - and this shouldn't be hard at all. This is because the turret can be locked to a certain angle, unlike the power, which goes up to 100% no matter what after you press the 'Spacebar'.

More information can be found here.

The Trajectory:

As for the trajectory - which is determined by both the angle and the power at which you release the shot, it can be controlled by progressively shooting at a certain place in a certain private map. Doing this, you will be able to learn the correct power and angle for a certain location on a map.

More information can be found here.

Power and Explosion:

Magnum, as of now, has the strongest impact force as well as the most spectacular explosion in the game. It can, and yes, I have tested this, flip a Dictator if one stands on top of a Magnum's barrel. This muzzle flash, the light and the fire which comes out of the barrel after shooting, has a very big impact force. This can be used very effectively in certain parkour situations.

More information can be found below in the article.

Location:

While parkouring with Magnum, you will need to be well aware of the map's high and lows. Magnum in unlike Hammer and Railgun, which provide the perfect statistics necessary for reaching high places. But this doesn't mean that using Magnum is not worthy either. The point is, you need to find a decent building around some flat ground to start learning parkour with Magnum. The more you do this, the quicker you'll be able to achieve new heights with Magnum.

The Setup:

Currently, there are hundreds of setups possible for reaching buildings for Hammer, Railgun and other turrets. Magnum however, allows only a certain number of setups. Learning these is necessary, as some of the 'old' setups (such as the Sandwich setup, the Mine-Hammer setup) might not work at all.

Timing:

Timing is really necessary for a trick to work with Magnum. Simply said, you have to calculate the time for a projectile to reach a certain place, and then, you need to work alongside this time and make the trick work. Tricks requiring Magnum to shoot up allow for only a minor 0.5-1s error. Hence, timing is imperative.

Conversation:

Conversation is the only way to manage timing, as communicating via a voice call is a hundred times better than typing and choosing times from the battle timer. With a voice call, even a huge group of Magnums would be able to shoot at the same second at just a simple 'GO!', or 'SHOOT!'.

Equipment:

Most of the tricks with Magnum require incredible impact forces - and though Magnum M0 or M1 do have some really good values for impact forces, they won't be able to counter for higher modifications of Wasps and Hornets. Thus, a high modification of Magnum must be requisite in order for the trick to work.

Experience:

As aforementioned, you won't be able to grab Magnum, buy it, equip it and pull off a major trick. Earning experience with this thing, or any new turret you're about to play with, is really necessary.

Control:

And the last thing: control. Controlling Magnum can be a difficult task, but if you master its aim, angles and trajectory, you will be able to shoot anywhere at anytime. Just the mere control of angles and power is required while parkouring with Magnum.

- Parkouring With Magnum: The Tricks -

0:20-0:26 -- A Salvo of Chocolate

Trick Type: Group - one jumper, several helpers

Description:

Location: Berlin

Jumper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Helper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Difficulty: Medium

The trick starts by the jumper - which is facing the helpers - beginning to hand-stand on the ramp along side the big building in Berlin.

Y8QLnkq.png

In this moment, all of the Magnums standing behind him shoot at the exact same time. All of their projectiles must hit the same spot in the middle of the jumper's tank. This is necessary for the jumper's flight to level and straight.

JlB6yvY.png

After the Magnum's have shot the jumper, he/she must also shoot in order to get that extra impact force needed to fly in the direction of the helper's shots.

sTtnblx.png

Do this perfectly and the jumper will reach the building unscathed and evenly!

➣ 0:27-0:32 -- The Quintuple Barrels ★

Trick Type: Group - one jumper, several helpers

Description:

Location: Berlin

Jumper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Helper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Difficulty: Extreme

3o7buhj4r3u4Kj1g9G.gif

This trick's setup is quite quirky. It requires five Magnum-Wasps, more or less depending upon the height of the building, to be on top of each other. The lower four Magnums must point up and the highest Magnum must aim parallel to the ground opposite to the direction of the aimed building.

0aytjD1.png

Then, one by one, the lower Magnums must start shooting the one top of each one to generate lots and lots of impact power. Note that this will also cause the structure to become unstable, so you might need to shift your position to hold on.

5qZiNBW.png

Just when the second-highest Magnum shoots the highest one, it should shoot in the direction its pointing in to push itself towards the building.

NFBItHH.png

This sum of these impact forces will cause the highest Wasp to gain altitude as well as move in the direction of the building behind it.

VoBWDWC.png

Ultimately, the Wasp will stick the landing on the building.

➣ 0:33-0:39 -- Flips for Phoenixes

Trick Type: Trio - one jumper, two helpers

Description:

Location: Osa

Jumper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Helper(s): Wasp-Magnum | Mammoth-Hammer

Difficulty: Medium

Located in Osa, this trick combines the use of a flipped tank serving as a ramp that will make the jumper lift up just enough for it to able to shot at by a Magnum. A Wasp starts speeding backwards onto a pair of mines planted just before a flipped Mammoth-Hammer, which is already leaning on the edge of the lifted 'podium'.

thPpyqX.png

Then, the helper Wasp-Magnum must shoot the Mammoth. The impact force will cause it to lift up just a bit, but this bit will prove to be enough for a good, high jump. Simultaneously, the jumper Wasp-Magnum must also shoot in order to get it flying in the direction of the building.

SSKbGk7.png

Time this perfectly and the Wasp will go flying in the air and eventually land on a building.

➣ 0:40-0:47 -- Raining Lead ★

Trick Type: Group - one jumper, several helpers

Description:

Location: Rio

Jumper(s): Wasp-Hammer

Helper(s): Wasp-Magnum | Wasp-Smoky

Difficulty: Extreme

giphy.gif

The setup requires a couple of Wasp and Magnums to stand around a side-flipped Wasp-Hammer. This jumper must be close enough to the building for the trick to work. For precautions, place a Smoky on the red building aside to this road. Its job will be to shoot the jumper in case he comes a little short from the building. The building in this case is the red one, alongside the brownish-white one.

The trick starts by all Magnums surrounding the jumper shooting into the air. They must try to shoot at exactly the same time so that a uniform impact force is generated.

EsPNDFc.png

Depending upon the power, the projectiles will come raining down around the jumper. In this time, the helpers must run away to avoid unnecessary self-destruction as well as disturbance in the jumper's flight.

t2CMKNR.png

When the projectiles hit the ground, the jumper will be propelled into the air. But, to compensate for a circle of impact forces, the Hammer must also shoot at the ground just as the projectiles touch it. This will generate even more impact force and will help the jumper gain more altitude.

WVoKVKB.png

The precautionary Smoky may or may not shoot the jumper. But in this case, it had too. The Wasp was coming in a little short of the building, so a little shot was necessary.

qVoWLqR.png

With a number of barrel rolls and explosions, the Wasp finally sticks the landing onto the building.

K3attJq.png

➣ 0:48-0:59 -- The Head-Triple Combo

Trick Type: Two Man Parkour

Description:

Location: Osa

Jumper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Helper(s): Viking-Magnum

Difficulty: Hard

First of all, place a Magnum-Wasp on top of a Magnum-Viking. This setup must be in a place where there's a ramp and a building just in front of it. This example of Osa is perfect, since the ramp and the building are of the perfect gradient and height respectively. To begin the trick, the Wasp-Magnum shoots into the air at 90 degrees.

voShMVO.png

The Viking must then get the above Wasp into a hand-stand. This can be easily done rocking on the edge of the ramp, as shown below (watching the video is better). This quick movement will cause the wasp to hand-stand on top of the Viking.

5R63YTT.png

In this time, the Wasp-Magnum's projectile will fall down and hit the two of them. This will cause the Wasp to rise up slightly.

nerqVOC.png

Just as the aforementioned shot hits the Wasp, it and the Viking below must shoot at each other in order to send the jumper onto the building.

Owp8qNO.png

The Wasp will automatically go towards the building, because the hand-standing procedure made the Wasp move slightly back, that is, towards the building.

➣ 1:00-1:06 -- The Trio-Viking

Trick Type: Group - one jumper, several helpers

Description:

Location: Deathtrack

Jumper(s): Viking-Magnum

Helper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Difficulty: Hard

In this trick, a Magnum-Viking is used as a jumper. Sounds weird? Maybe.

Three Magnum-Wasps are planted at the top of the ramp in a certain line. This line, when extended, must lead straight to a building. Note that the Viking must also carefully reverse on this line at full speed.

eEWeE9n.png

After the Viking reaches the top of the Wasps...

hwwXIsJ.png

... they must shoot it one by one. Each of these shots will make the Viking go even higher. At the end, or possibly in between, the Viking-Magnum has to shoot in order to generate enough momentum for it to reach the building.

KVaDPSj.png

Flips and rolls later, the Viking will reach the building.

RH2MqZy.png

➣ 1:07-1:15 -- Lead 'n Hammers

Trick Type: Group - one jumper, several helpers

Description:

Location: Osa

Jumper(s): Wasp-Hammer

Helper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Difficulty: Hard

Four Wasp-Magnums stand on one side of a side-flipped Wasp-Hammer. All of them shoot in the air at 90 degrees at the same time.

GTwLi3g.png

Then, they run. In this time, the shots will reach the ground and cause the Wasp to move up and towards the building behind it. The Hammer must shoot at the ground for a little more encouragement.

RrTnS8l.png

It will go flying in the air and ultimately land on the building.

RVolKA7.png

➣ 1:16-1:23 -- 1, 2, 3, 4! ★

Trick Type: Group - one jumper, several helpers

Description:

Location: Silence

Jumper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Helper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Difficulty: Hard

giphy.gif

Arrange four Wasp-Magnums in a line in a direction of a building. Then, place a  Wasp-Hammer in front of these Magnums. Note that the Magnums need to be at a level below that Hammer.

CcVuguN.png

The Magnums then start speeding towards the Hammer, which will jump down just as the first Magnum shoots it. Then, the second Magnum must shoot.

IfxUuTZ.png

Then the third and fourth one must also shoot to push it further up. When the jumpers reach their highest point, they must shoot in a direction opposite to that of the building to be propelled in the building's direction.

And...

➣ 1:24-1:32 -- The Long-Range Parkour Strike

Trick Type: Group - One jumper, several helpers

Description:

Location: Chernobyl

Jumper(s): Viking-Magnum

Helper(s): Wasp-Magnum | Dictator-Magnum

Difficulty: Extreme

In this trick, three Wasp-Magnums are required as sub-helpers and one Dictator-Magnum as the main helper. The Wasps will play an important role in getting the Viking pushed towards the building, while the Dictator will make the jumper achieve enough height to scale it swiftly.

Three Wasp-Magnums, situated in the blue base of Chernobyl, aim and target a Viking-Magnum leaning on a Dictator on the exact opposite side of the map - in the red base. The three of them shoot together. Keep in mind that the aim here has to be perfect with almost no error; achievable by changing the angles while keeping the power maximum. In this case, the target should be the middle of the Vikings front side.

ULhkf82.png

When the Wasps shoot, the projectiles will make their way to the Dictator traveling between the nuclear plant at exactly 140 meters per second, as shown below:

oCU1B8k.png

Then, they will start hitting the leaning Viking one by one. This will generate enough impact force to send the Viking flying over the Dictator. The Viking-Magnum must also shoot here to push itself over the Dictator and then further onto the building.

ntvRpXS.png

The Viking will be over the Dictator for a second. In this second...

IIIBd6j.png

... the Dictator must shoot the Viking to push it higher into the air.

3ZD9rod.png

And if the timing's right, the Viking will have enough backward impact force as well as enough altitude to properly land on the building.

➣ 1:34-1:43 -- A Little, Explosive Help

Trick Type: One Man Parkour

Description:

Location: Novel

Jumper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Helper(s): None

Difficulty: Medium

This trick can be done anywhere and at anytime, provided that there is a 'ramp-like' wall located near the location of the trick. Equip Wasp-Magnum, point its barrel pointing straight up and shoot at some power.

NxAlmWU.png

Then, come forward and point your barrel straight down.

bzHx2nf.png

Start reversing back onto the wall. In this time, the projectile first shot will land and cause the Wasp to be pushed in the direction of the building. When you reach the base of the wall...

d7abURm.png

... shoot to generate impact force. This will cause the Wasp to be pushed even further.

KkLVROn.png

Finally, it will stick the landing on the building.

4V29tkP.png

➣ 1:44-2:02 -- The Dicship Waspalon ★

Trick Type: Trio - one jumper, two helpers

Description:

Location: Skylark

Jumper(s): Wasp-Magnum

Helper(s): Dictator-Magnum

Difficulty: Extreme

3o7bu49xDSHhloe8jm.gif

This is quite a difficult trick, requiring almost no margin for error. Even its setup is somewhat confusing. Well, getting to the trick, choose a building that is neither too far nor too close to a 'ramp-like' wall. Then, place two Dictator-Magnum both facing each other from the front side, such that the back side of one Dictator faces the wall. This 'Wall-Dictator' must point up before the beginning of the trick. The other Dictator must point towards the other Dictator. Now, place a Wasp-Magnum, the jumper, on top of these Dictators. It also must point up before the trick.

To begin the trick, the 'Wall-Dictator' and the Wasp shoot their projectile high into the air; and the power of these must be high enough to allow time for a quick maneuver as soon as the shots are fired.

Rv2YNzi.png

While the projectiles are high into the air, the Wasp must shift its position to the other Dictator and point down. All Magnums must all be pointing down at this stage.

dH2sFnN.png

Then, the 'Wall-Dictator' leans on the wall while simultaneously, the other Dictator - the one carrying the Wasp - starts to speed towards it.

cPnJGe1.png

In this elapsed time, the projectile will land on the setup creating a huge impact force for the Wasp. Exactly as they land, all Dictator-Magnums must shoot again in order generate even more force.

F29BqYM.png

Finally, the Wasp-Magnum must shoot to push itself towards the building behind it.

uRWzKku.png

If all goes well, the Wasp-Magnum will reach the top of the building in a dramatic sort of way and start to show off.

SCIVOSG.png

Well, in short, both Fight & Flight [F&F] and The Flying Parkourists [TFP] deserve a huge round of applause, for they not only teamed up to make the biggest and greatest video they have ever produced, but also that they keep defying the laws of Tanki physics, making hundreds of impossible tricks possible.

Another great news for F&F! Cedric announced in the livestream that due to their inspiring efforts and incredible teamwork for the EN community, F&F will be receiving a special paint as a reward - Phoenix!

Coloring_phoenix.png

This is, and will be a proud achievement and a memory of our community, one that will be remembered throughout the upcoming years of this diverse game.

Till then, I'm over 'n out. Oh, and don't forget -- keep Magnum'ing!

It seems easy to someone who's been parkouring for years, but trust me, to someone new, those ratings are perfect.
