What to buy? Which is better?

...

So M3 kits and MUs to be effective in the long run are INCREDIBLY expensive. ...

...

OK, ieww. I just looked at M3 kit prices. I fondly remember low-cost Thunder M3 kits. However, it's not 50% off for equipment on any Thunder kit [assuming the paint is worth zero]. So let me advise against my own advice [which I'll leave because, hey, Paladin and Medic and others are still better than separate purchases, if you're into that equipment]:

If that pile of crystals was hard to get, then MU slowly at 50% off as much as possible, and you won't unlock until Marshal.

If you seem to come by crystals easily [though it will get harder later with M2s against M3s/M4s], then save up and buy a kit at 3-star which you can upgrade a bunch right away and immediately compete.

When do you want to be the most awesome?

1) Don't MU and rank up and buy a kit. (4-6months)

2) MU my Thunder M2 to M3 without speed upts and pay 240k (40weeks)

3) MU it with speed ups in 50% use 320k (1minute)

How many current MUs on your Thunder and how many MUs on your hull(s)?

I was thinking about buying Twins m3 + 2 alterations. (stable plasma and the "long" range one) I have enough crys to microupgrade it until level 7 or 8.

How would it perform at that level against mostly m4 opponents? I expect it will be horrible, but hopefully I am wrong.

Striker M2 or Gauss M2?

Having trouble making this choice

Unfortunately I have to admit gauss is the better choice. More reliable aimed shots, which still deal devastating damage, and huge splash area.

Which drone should I get in the Garage sales tomorrow?

Note: I have Brutus Drone and I'm only WO2, so I haven't even unlocked Engineer, Driver or Miner yet.

If you're a fan of DM; trooper is great. I wouldn't use assault if you aren't willing to MU it, and the healing drone... Is very underwhelming imo.

Engineer and driver are both great, engineer will give the effects of a supply drop to the entire team and give you an increased duration... This allows for much more power for the team.

And of course driver is almost self explanatory as a boost.

So if you don't buy any I would think of one of these 2 for later on.

1. I hate DM

2. I think when a dictator comes and heals me with its OD when my drone isn't recharging, the Mechanic drone would do very well

3. Assault increases drug duration, but I wasn't going to get it.

4. Driver will be my go-to drone when I reach WO5 tbh

Driver will do well with my versatile combo (shaft and viking) because at close range, it will steal kills, add a DD to that and it's a nightmare for Wasps.

Close range = Arcade shot

Long range = Sniping shot

It will do well in battles, especially that I hold the paint Tanks 1.0 because if I end up in ASL, I can find the strongest member, avoid that member - and head to the base.

So, Driver is the best drone (for star hunts, in my opinion) because if it's MUed, the time you just saved is colossal. It recharge time is 20 seconds, so it's just kill, after kill, after kill (also -10 sec, after -10s, after -10s)

Well opening 15 containers got me into an interesting situation. I ended up with 110k crystals. And now I'm wondering if I should buy sledgehammer even though it might be nerfed in the future, or should I buy the extra MU steps or two for my Viking and thunder, which would bring them up to at least 12/20?

According to Maf, it is planned to be nerfed, so maybe try the cheaper alternative - Small Calibre Charging Machine. Just note than Stock Thunder does more damage with your Viking's Overdrive than SCCM. And maybe upgrade your Viking once.

MU, but not yet. Play with what you have and try to get lots of crys until Tanker's Day (Sept.). The sales in that holiday are 50/70 for MUs, so it's exactly equal to MUing with no sales... only it's more-or-less instant (okay, okay, it takes a couple seconds :))

NO!!!

If you're F2P, you gotta MU. Later, once you have M2.7 or more, then you get another kit if possible. Generally you're going to be buying a late kit.

The MUs are 50/50.  I have 146k crystals atm.  I'll MU hornet to 9/10 no speed ups, then Rico.  Since it's 50/50, should I buy speedups too for Rico?

Also, I feel like I need another m2 to go with hornet.  Shaft hornet only works on big maps.  Rico is garbage with hornet.  On my old acc I loved using Thunder hornet or rail hornet.  Perhaps that?

You're not satisfied with Shaft-Hornet? It's by far the best tank in the game.

I plan to buy an m3 weapon on my marshal account tomorrow... I'm undecided.

It owns isida, titan and viking m3, so I was thinking between a few weapons:

- Magnum+RGC

- Smoky+incendiary rounds (Already own the alteration)

- Gauss

- Rail+ EA'S' or LCR (Already own EA'S')

- Twins+Stable plasma (Not a fan of this idea though)

Or the dreaded shaft+RFM...?

Consider I don't own any gauss or magnum module so self damage will be great. The account is @UAV1997 if you want to check out the ratings.

Shaft Hornet works in medium to large maps, and does well if not a lot of people try to go for you, or your team isn't overrun.  In those situations, it is absolutely fantastic.

It is terrible in close - medium fights though, especially against medium - short range turrets like smoky.  Even firebird wasps can kill me because I usually only have DD on, and I can't 1 shot with DD and no DA for them because of my m1.3 shaft.

In long range fights, I constantly get 1 shot.  Smoky critical hits, shaft, gauss, rail, magnum, maybe thunder at medium-close range.  And no, being mobile doesn't help counter all of the above.  There is a very obvious red line running across the entire map.  Yes, I know the "hide your laser behind a rock trick", but it limits my FOV, and they can still see my tank.

Being constantly knocked around by idiotic teammates and enemy knockback also don't help.

Obviously no combo is perfect, I guess I'm just frustrated with the low health of hornet.

Edit: About the speed up question, can someone answer that? Thanks.

I would say Smoky or Gauss as the safest choice.  Medium to long range, since Isida is the only m3 turret.  Rail, shaft and magnum if you really love them, and twins would be a meh choice.

I don't know about m3 versions of them though, I'm only talking about m0-2 experiences.

The only other m3 I have a good experience with is thunder (Coincidentally with both viking and titan), which I just got a prime skin for... Thunder sledgehammer isn't bad (It's great), but I have the same thing on my other account @Chameleos... It wouldn't feel the same with thunder at stock m3 vs the 16/20 one I have on the other account. I don't know if it's a good idea.

Is freeze m3 any good? I don't see many of them but when I do they can usually take me down. Don't know if I should buy Freeze m3 or should MU another turret to m4 like Isida or Fire. Once I rank up to legend Ill be playing small map pro battles only, reason why I picked those two to m4.

IMO when you're playing small map PRO-battles even at M1 stages, Fire is better because of the burn. For instance, in Island - be honest, when are you going to be able to circle-strafe an opponent and not get yourself damaged? Essentially never. As for defense, I find that Fire works just fine.

So my advice? Just keep with the Fire MUs. However, I am also basing my opinion off M2s when Fire is very strong and Freeze is relatively weak.

I plan to buy an m3 weapon on my marshal account tomorrow... I'm undecided.

It owns isida, titan and viking m3, so I was thinking between a few weapons:

- Magnum+RGC

This will be best used with your Viking. Its low stature allows most of your shots to directly hit and not go over the target's head.

With RGC, you'd have to get used to the new projectile gravitation (assuming that you are accustomed with the vertical Magnums' projectile gravitations). Start with 100% velocity shots. This is the maximum distance you can achieve with a shot. Once you get accustomed to that, start scaling down the velocities and see where each shot hits. Keep in mind that there is no velocity meter to show you what % it is at when charging. the only things you have to go off of is your gut (after many, many hours of playing RGC Magnum), and the ammo bar draining down.

You've seen me play with it, and incorporating all of that will ensure maximum efficiency.

Magnum protection is a must, or at least a high priority if you're going to be playing with Magnum.

- Smoky+incendiary rounds (Already own the alteration)

This was me back in a previous sale. I had M2 Smoky with Incendiary Rounds and I was unsure whether or not to buy M3 Smoky. Looking at the statistics, M2 Smoky is very close to M3 Smoky, to the point where the increase in statistics wasn't worth the price. If you're going to buy M3 Smoky, you'd need to upgrade it as fast as possible. I have trouble doing well with Smoky at the moment and it's M3 5/20.

- Gauss

Only if you think you can handle it. Works well with Titan as the stability helps with the poor tracking when under fire. Gauss with Viking's Overdrive is really great when you're not interrupted.

- Rail+ EA'S' or LCR (Already own EA'S')

A part of me was considering buying Railgun and LCR for it to see how well that does at M3 vs M4s.

I would say that EA"S" goes more well with Hornet's Overdrive than Viking's Overdrive - for one, Stock Railgun deals more damage than it. If you plan to use that with Viking, don't expect to get those sextuple kills like LCR Railguns get, especially if they have protection against you, which is another reason it is better with Hornet.

LCR would be better with Viking's Overdrive. And you can also get the added bonus of one-shotting a few light hulls from full HP, without double damage.

- Twins+Stable plasma (Not a fan of this idea though)

Twins just isn't for me. I have no say in this one.

Or the dreaded shaft+RFM...?

Perhaps. With that, you'd strike back at the Shafts you oh so hate. But with that, you'd also become the one thing you swore to destroy.

You're not going to destroy full HP M3 medium hulls with 2 shots, so remember than you need all 3 shots to kill them. The penalty on the energy recovery rate becomes more lenient the further you go up in modifications. At M3, you're looking at a 6.45-second reload after a sniping shot or 3 consecutive arcade shots.

Your sniping shot will only kill light hulls. A few upgrades will allow you to one-shot M4 light hulls. A few more upgrades would nullify the defense boost given by the light hulls' drones.

I think I narrowed it down to magnum, gauss, rail or thunder. Now one of my accounts already owns thunder, and I find it great (as you also have seen) but to have the same feel it would require large MU investment as the other one has 16/20.

I have experience with gauss thanks to this account I'm writing with, it's one of my most powerful assets along with rail, which I'm also used to.

The only true novelty would be the choice of magnum, which I have only tried at m1 with AGLM on an account I have pretty much abandoned.

Novelty, or something I've already experienced? I wonder.

Don't do Thunder again. Branch and try Gauss or smoky (unless you have elsewhere as well)

Hello guys, I'm a really old player and I decided to give TO another try after a long pause. The last time I played, Gauss and Magnum were not in the game, nor were alterations and overdrives, and the balance and meta was quite different.

Now, I only plan to play with the pro battle pass, without  enabling all this silly stuff (alts, overdrives, supplies, microupgrades.

Wow.... not playing matchmaking... You will miss out at lot of potential crystal earnings.
