Charge players for leaving matches.

Recommended Posts

Things can change. E.g. you join a battle and five minutes later get a call from your parents saying that you need to pack up and go somewhere.

Story of my life.

Terrible Idea imo.

What if someone needed to eat? What if he had an in real life problem/event that he needs to attend to? then when he comes back he can't join another battle for an hour?

Then you can send an appeal to customer support saying that you had an emergency that needed attending to and hopefully they appeal the penalty for that match.

If you needed to eat then you should know better than to join a match before a meal, or you bring food like HotPockets or mini pizzas to eat mid-match.

Isn't the auto-afk system set on a 5-min timer? So, if you need to go somewhere, you could pause your system, go into your garage and let the auto-afk do its job. Not the most respectable of systems but at least your K/D etc. doesn't go down.

Also, for the third time, it doesn't affect admins, mods, or spectators.

Again, this kind of system wouldn't affect admins, mods, or contributors (spectators basically).

You realise I am none of those, right?

Technically, I am a Wiki Moderator but more of an editor. Also, what makes you think that I am a "spectator?" I have no Spectator functions lol.

Wait, what's the point of that then? If you need to go then why not just leave the battle instead of taking up space and being AFK for 5 minutes.

TO has such lousy design that many matches become boring or lopsided or outright spawn-killing orgies.

Successful game company approach: Fix the fundamental game mechanics so lopsided games are less frequent and/or offer plays on the losing team something to achieve.

Soon-to-be-bankrupt game company approach: Forget re-design instead punish players on losing teams even more.

Exactly why losing crystals is not appropriate, losing the ability to join battle is suitable. Not playing for 1 hour or 6 hours will give you an experience due to which you will think wisely before joining a battle next time.

LOL! Not playing for 1 hour or 6 hours because you dont want to waste your own time playing in a hopeless game of TO will give you an opportunity to walk away form TO forever and do something else. As 99% of the player who experienced this would do.

LOL, please adopt this policy Tanki! I love a good train wreck.

Have you all dropped your brains in a sewer?

We already have such a thing in the game. If you put in some effort into a battle and then decided to leave, then you risk losing your earned funds.

No need for them to pay another 500 crystals and not get their funds. If it happened then it would not only would it be very inconvenient for many players, but it would also make the reputation that " it's pay2play" skyrocket. And many players if not all would just give up and quit.

Aye, I do realize, and frankly I think you guys who run the wiki need more attention from the devs. The damn thing's almost died out and they've likely out right forgotten you guys still edit the wiki.

On the point of "mods/admins/contributors" I said probably be more specific and go to the length of saying "anyone officially recognized by TO as a person/player of decent respectable authority and immunity to most minor violations"

Now I'm fairly sure that you guys don't have immunity from the law but I'm fairly sure that y'all get a lot more lee-way on certain things than us plebs get. ;)

True enough but in the situation where you need to do such a thing, it's there. Like I said, it's not respectable in the slightest but it maintains stats.

I should also add that most families that function with set schedules and pre-planning will likely inform you when you will be leaving for a given event/etc. and then again for when you will actually be heading out, which, in a course of time like that, is around a couple of days, meaning players should just stay out of battles during that period.

1. I have been pushing for the Wiki to get a little more publicity so agree with you there. However, Devs most certainly have not forgotten about us, keep in mind that they send us the stats right after updates are released ...

2. We don't get any leeway whatsoever from rules. Quite the contrary, tbh. Rules apply much harsher to us.

3. We don't have immunity from rules and we most certainly don't receive leeway from "certain things."

If you want to prevent people from running away from battles, there's no need to punish them for leaving, sticks in this sort of situation work a lot worse than carrots. The solution is very simple, you only need do two things:

- Change the battle fund distribution system to something less ridiculously one-sided, where players find it more beneficial for their crystal wallet to stay in a losing battle than leaving and finding a spot in a winning team after having scored 100 or 200 points.

- Sort out the problem with supplies.

Love this analogy. So relevant as well.

That is the points I was trying to make. The problem of players leaving exists because of poor design by Tanki. The answer to poor design is good design. The answer is not, punish the players who choose not to waste their time due to poor design. "If the game is flawed it must be the fault of the players!"

The same mentality is behind the doofs who blame Tanki players for using the Tanki Supplies that Tanki design makes essential for sucess while playing Tanki. Players find out what works and use it. That is their role. That is rather the goal of playing a game.

Not "locking them in battle" but rather it prevents players from joining for five seconds, seeing that the match will be a lose and then leaving instantly because they won't receive crystals etc.

And with your idea, if that player joins and can't leave because of your fee, he will just hide or play poorly and wait for the end of the battle. Not really a win-win situation. He will waste his time and be a liability to his team.

If players knew how to read a stats board they would know better not to join a battle to begin with because they end up making the team in question lose even harder because kills on players that have left a battle still stay in the team tallies. :p

@ 2. & 3. RIP. I thought you guys got breaks for some of the stupider stuff like flood and the like.

If it's a 8vs8 with only a free spot, players don't bother reading the stats board. They just want to join the battle fast before someone else does.

Full ack! Imho these are the two core topics that are still left untouched in all the published plans of the devs.

..because each of those directly effects the income :/

Supplies are the means to overpower others, and the fund is the carrot that must be held high in order to use supplies a lot.

Although the fund could be balanced out a bit, as the feeling to overpower & win is maybe "enough" for most.

Wow, @BlackWasp777 ranked! Congrats :)

This is a very bad idea. Lets put you in this scenario:

You guys are losing 9-0. Your score is 0. Would you rather waste your time in this noob battle or change battles ?

Assuming it's a TDM. If I'm losing 9-0 and it's a 2v1, of course I'll stay because I can get missions done and get a much better fund than if it was a 10v10, and that kind of situation isn't a "noob battle", it's a case of the brain sh*ts for my team.

On the point of the 2v1 by the way, I've won a fair many of them and some of them against better equipment than my own. Ended up being called a hacker, too. I'm just like "No you suck"
