I never get thanked as a dictator... But sometimes as an isida yes.

As you move up the ranks, less people will use Viking (of course, stilla lot) and they will start thanking you. Just hold on.

When playing with Dictator, if I have my Overdrive, I try to prioritise Hornets, Vikings and Titans. Hornets because their Overdrive allows the team insight on the enemy locations earlier and Viking and Titans because of their slow charging rate. Using it on a Viking shaves off 3 minutes of charging for them. And, it can make for beneficial teamwipes to capture flags, Rugby balls etc. I gave Hikki (the Viking + Sledgehammer Thunder on the right of the screenshot) 3 Overdrives.

Oh-the-joys-of-giving-Vikings-their-Over

Dictators are very important to a team. Since Overdrives basically govern who wins and who loses, giving allies as many as possible can give your team a good chance of winning or fending off pushes or even counter-attacking.

Different situations, maps, enemy and ally combinations etc all come together to determine who I give my Overdrive to. Some people want it on the spot when I'm trying to get to 2 other allies that are at the other side of the base.

Yes, @Tidebreaker, he was a Viking + Firebird but hey, at least he was understanding.  I might have came across as rude but he shouldn't expect a Dictator to use its Overdrive solely on him.

I don't see a noticeable decrease in number the higher I go.

I have many ways to counter it as well. It isn't how OP it is that ticks me off, it's the fact that the usage rate is through the roof. People with Viking are generally very rude and deliberately take the Overdrive box away from when either I or someone else is using Dictator in team battles.

You know that today, a Viking-Isida actually thanked me for sharing an Overdrive with them? That's the first time a Viking has ever thanked me for sharing Overdrive charge. People who run other hulls thank me without fail.

Conclusion: People who run Viking (80%) are selfish as hell. They only care about themselves and their Berserk Reactor.

That's all folks!

Well it's not really their fault, it's a fast paced game, and what if saying "thank you" means that they costed your team to lose the battle. Besides there are other ways of thanking people in battle like give them flags (if they can), being your meat shield, etc.

I agree about Hornets and Titans, but from my experience, I've learned that Vikings are the most ungrateful out of the hulls. I would much rather give it to a Hunter so he can walk in to the base and EMP everyone so we can get more kills. I even sometimes give it to Dictators (for example, there was this Dictator-Shaft on Solikamsk today that shared his OD with me all the time. I kept giving it back, and we all ended up with 25+ kills at the end of the match. Good guy)

You just went to town on that guy! The first time I read this, I laughed so hard I almost spit out my water. There are people that break from their shell easily. but most don't and keep calling you useless..)

On my mid-rank account, I saw 95% of people using Viking in quick battles. There was even a match in which I was the only non-Viking in TDM...

Last time I checked, this wasn't a competitive game at all. No offense, but if you care so much about quick battles here, you have no idea how stressful Tanki X's Ranking Play was. That game made you become better because your life quite literally depended on it. Back to topic. I have seen none of the above example of Vikings being nice to me (except the Isida). In fact, I even had a Viking that would deliberately mess up my aim as I would go into sniping mode. And if that wasn't enough, one other person came up to me when my Supplies Overload was ready. Being the person that I was, I gave it to him. He was on full HP - 5 seconds later, he self-destructs as a show of rudeness and then starts calling me out in the worst ways imageneable. I don't want to go into details, but this is what pushed it over the edge.

Tanki X is trash really, not even that competitive, it's just pay 2 win.

I played it a few times, and the modules are just overpowered pay to win, crappy features.

And they were pushing you probably because you were in they're way. The ability to shoot over allied tanks is a luxury that they don't have.

And that Viking that you gave OD to, probably got ambushed, and was using a splash turret. The ambushed probably was using a high damage per second turret like freeze. The Viking probably shot the freeze, which might have caused him to self destruct after losing so much health from that freeze.

And most Vikings are "rude" only because of what they either had to deal with in real life or the fact that Vikings stability sucks. I mean I would be pissed if I keep constantly getting my aim knocked off by the enemy. If you played Viking, you would understand.

I prioritise the slower-charging Overdrives because of just that, it charges slowly, espeically Viking's Overdrive. If after 1 minute, I have my Overdrive and an ally Hunter doesn't, I'd use it on one of my allies that are using a slower-charging Overdrive. That Hunter's charge is most likely above 80%.

Viking's Overdrive is such a game changer when there are many on one team. So if you give your Vikings as many Overdrives as possible, it can potentially trigger teamwipes (from all ranges) and allow your team to capture more flags, RGB balls etc. Two problems I see with that.

1) They would be getting most if not all of the score from the teamwipe

2) Some Vikings may feel entitled to Dictator's Overdrives if they see Dictators coming towards them to use it.

If you signal me with your turret, there is a high chance I'll use it on you. It's kind of infuriating when a Hornet is constantly shooting me for my Overdrive when they have theirs ready. They could activate it and I can give them 50% charge on the spot so if they get 4 kills, they can have a next one ready by the end of it but nope.

I've had a battle like that where a Dictator was the only hull i could share it with, I and the first place guy (he was using Round Destabilisation).

 Dictator-teamwork.png

We shared Overdrives throughout the battle, sadly, he ended up getting Shafted 3 times.

On my mid-rank account, I saw 95% of people using Viking in quick battles. There was even a match in which I was the only non-Viking in TDM...

As you can see, there is clearly some worth using it if so many use it.

Why do you think I quit?

OK, so I was in the way of someone in the corner of Massacre. That makes a lot of sense.

Highland CTF. Blue team. I spawn in for my second life after narrowly catching the Nuclear Energy box. Looking for someone to give my Supplies Overload to, I spot a Viking-Gauss. "He seems promising," I thought. I give him the Overdrive. He turns his turret towards me and starts pushing me. 5 seconds later, he self-destructs. On full HP.

There was no one in the vicinity.

I had to deal with the worst stuff you can imagine on Earth, and yet, I don't go out of my way to spoil someone's mood. I don't care if Viking's stability sucks, it doesn't give you an excuse for deliberately ramming into a Dictator-Shaft who is scoped in in Brest. That's sabotage. If people keep doing that, I'll go out of my way to get their account blocked. I don't care what it takes. I can't tolerate people who do that kinda stuff.

As you can see, there is clearly some worth using it if so many use it.

The only worth I can see is for looks or if they're using short ranged turrets.

But I really do not think that's the reason why many are using it.

Some had Viking before the rebalance update of October 2016, and after that, they felt that they couldn't get another medium hull. Others are just flat out ignorant to where they think the only important stats for a hull are health, speed, and I guess now overdrives.

I think the main culprit is that the most popular kit at low ranks is that thunder viking m1 kit, which buyers get and bring to m2, so it looks overpowered, and other people buy viking so they can be overpowered as well...

Too bad it sucks for nearly every gun, and it's only acceptable on fire/freeze/isida because they turn quickly and the hull's height allows usage of stock isida or high pressure pump variants without losing 80% of your dps on missed ticks. Plus the overdrive raises the gun's range, allowing for some surprise factor, and chance at killing multiple clustered enemies together.

My thunder m3 and the other m3 account only have viking because I had it when it was a good hull and not the slideking it is now, and the overdrive is a joke most of the time... Even if I bought viking m2 to compliment firebird m3 on one of my accounts, I'm consistently scoring better and have more fun using hunter striker with uranium. That combo rocks. OD is always ready when you gotta punish some cocky people.

Well, then just report them, but just remember that Viking users have it just as hard (if not worse) as all the other hulls.

Lol, you're just mad because you don't know how to counter it.

There's many ways you can counter it to choose.

For example, all over drives can counter it

Unless the turret on the viking has range < 22m, it would be very hard for Hunter to counter that.  Viking OD lasts for... 7 seconds?  Most Hunters are dead in less than that time if the Viking activated OD.

True, but there is a way, and who says that the hunter has to go head on with the Viking?

Hunter is good for defense as well as surprise.

Vulcan and Railgun are the turrets that I have the most problems with trying to figure out its damage boost with Viking's Overdrive.

Railgun's problem is its damage range being too wide.

Vulcan's problem is its arbitrary damage calculation. The only way for me to figure out Vulcan's damage boost is me using my Vikings Overdrive when my damage becomes consistent in 0.25-second ticks. My M1 (10/10) Vulcan deals 127 damage per tick when that happens. If I am able to get that, I would use it with Viking's Overdrive, which is another problem. Viking's Overdrive takes so long to charge and I am not comfortable playing Vulcan with Viking. I have to make sure the Overdrive is ready when that happens. I have to make sure the player stays alive long enough for me to clearly see the numbers. The Vulcan has to get its damage consistent in the first place which happens randomly. So many factors in that makes it so hard to accomplish.

Do a private battle to figure it out

Yeah, that's how I did the others.

The problem still stands. The wide damage range would make it a bit hard to figure out and many other factors with Vulcan still need to come into play at the right time.

The amount of time it would take to get Vulcan's damage boost in a private battle would most definitely annoy the players that I call for the testing, since they could have been using that time to do something else in the game.

Wasn't Vikings OD recharge time once 3 minutes and 50 seconds?

I still feel hornet's OD is underpowered heavily. I mean there's wasp N2 bomb, titan protection dome and all hornet can do is keep trying to kill them.

Its not even fun anymore. Tanki has given wasp users a way to counter mammoth's OD but nothing to promote hornet usage. Please fix this.

What do you mean by "back"?

Apologies, let me rephrase:

They decreased the charging rate of Viking's Overdrive in this balance change. So instead of charging for 3 minutes and 50 seconds, it now charges in 4 minutes and 20 seconds. That balance change occurred on the 25th of April.

TC:DR: The "back" means "since":  The charging rate was decreased since that update.

I thought that update was where it got the 3 minutes and 50 seconds thing.

I feel like it was once just 3 minutes before that update came.

'Twas 3 minutes and 20 seconds on the first day of its release.

I don't see any other changes to it. They used units we didn't even know exist and I don't even know how it's used to calculate Overdrive times. Seems like they left us in the dark about that.
