only issue I now have is once your frozen from OD , you can't drop a gold box. which I was trying to do with in the last minute of battle time. the battle I was in lost out and I had to give it to another battle .

Gold Boxes can be used to one team's advantage. So activating its cooldown does serve some purpose. And the cooldown is only 5 seconds, you couldn't wait at least 5 seconds?

not really , mainly when it was so close to the end of the game. along with you can only drop gold before a certain time in order for someone to get it . or they loose out if the game closes.. ((

I would suggest not dropping a gold box within the last minute of a battle. They usually aren't worth trying to distract the enemies to pull off a win if you're strapped   for time.

Try doing it earlier on in the battle.

I do it all different times .. but like to do it only if its a good battle near the end regardless if were winning or loosing.. its just an added bonus for who ever gets it.. sometimes it's me lol

After watching that video, I can deduce that Vulcan's damage boost with Viking's Overdrive is a 2x damage boost. What's weird is that the player has double damage enabled during both Overdrives yet did exactly 2x damage. The only time I noticed a difference was in this frame:

Difference.png

On the unprotected Wasp, it dealt 474 for a tick. I believe that this is an add-on from the first tick that is seen as '290'.

I was taking a stroll down memory lane and looking at videos of Viking's Overdrive before the rate of fire and damage boost nerf and damn did everything make sense back then. Freezes killing my allies in one tick of damage. Electromagnetic Accelerator "scout" Railguns shooting at Hyperspeed etc.

It would have been nice to see how much damage Vulcan did back then, but in the words of Taspen:

My alt account has Hunter.  And Vulcan.  Those two are terrible together.  By the time the barrel spins up the stun is gone.  Then the hammer-Viking turns on HIS OD and kills me in 1 second.  Just brutal.

It's an ugly thought, but - the only decent medium hull for Vulcan might be Dictator.   :(

My Hunter is at m2.9 so I'm loathe to start over...

The heavy hulls are what's recommended but I'd like to follow my enemies when they get behind cover. I hate it when they peek-a-boo against me because I can do absolutely nothing about that. It's when I'm most vulnerable.

I have mammoth 2.9 as well but - it's still very slow, and not usefull on all maps.  I need something more than a (slightly) moveable pill-box.

Or just get a different turret.

So what exactly is Vulcan's role? It seems to me like it has too many weaknesses to justify it's considerable damage. The only real advantage it has to me is it can overpower a Repair Kit through sheer firing rate and still destroy a target.

I would say defense to midfielder.

I chose Vulcan/Freeze (added Gauss later - but - Gauss also sux with Hunter) for my alt and plan to stick with it.

I feel confident Dictator OD will mesh well with Vulcan - Dictator OD useful for any ranged turret - unlike Hunter which is wasted on long-range turrets.

And picking a new turret not really cheaper than picking a new hull.  Gotta start from scratch on either.

IMO it's a "suppresive" turret.

On Defense it whittles away at single or multiple tanks as they approach - forcing them to use RK way sooner than they'd like.

At mid-field it can suppress defenders - again - forcing them to use RK much sooner than desired.

Also, with 50% weak damage it is surprisingly good at long ranges.    It's just the awful spin-up and slow rotation that kills it up close.

I've used Hunter OD on targets and they are moving before I start doing damage.  It's that bad with Hunter.

Do people who use Titan stay in the bubble when they use it or just fall back into it when injured? I tend to do the latter, or just rush into the objectvie to place it down for an impending attack by my team.

If I'm playing CP I try to move to an occupied point to plop it there and claim it as mine. In ASL reds I try to place it on the enemy base so the last part of the attacks are easier for a few moments, in CTF I try to support flagbearers if they pass nearby with low HP.

Or just as self defense, you know. I mostly stay inside the bubble unless I'm out of targets/utility inside of it.

I see any more posts from anyone about how Hornet or wasp ODs need a buff I will want to slap them.  Hard.

They are everywhere in all battles. Getting kills left and right regularly during most battles.

And no - even at Legend ranks the bomb cant be outrun unless you are a light hull.  Medium hulls need a SB and need to be already moving.

Even Titans with SB don't have much of a chance to escape the blast radius.

An 11/20 viking m3 needs to be at around half the bomb range to be able to actually reverse and avoid the bomb with speed boost...  It's annoying.

Wolverine will likely disagree with this but I've noticed that if one team has a hunter while the other doesn't, then the team with the hunter will most likely win the battle.

Tested it on @VikingPrime and it seems to be true. Tested on @KillerDiesel and it also turned out to be true.

So I guess hunter is the standard hull to get now.

Too many variables to say yay or nay... map and battle-mode being the most important IMO.

Also would depend on turret as well. Rail or Shaft or Vulcan is pretty much wasted on Hunter as they like to keep their distance while hunter is opposite.

I have Hunter on both my accounts - it's not "special".  I find Titan just as or even more effective.

I honestly think that hunters OD is best used as a defense OD, so it should serve railgun and shaft quite well.

It seems to do quite will in DM and looks to be the decisive factor in 6 CTF battles that I played tonight.

I agree Hunter OD seems better on defense - team-wise - like guarding the flag with short to medium ranged turret.

For personal D it might work - BUT - would not be used often on snipers (except for maybe RFM which does not camp).

There are much better ODs for campers - which would be applied to combat situation far more often.

I mean - if the shaft or Magnum needs to keep using Hunter OD to defend itself, it's not really using turret properly.
