Thing is, a lot of players (myself included) prefer to keep the overdrive for a good occasion. So if I spawn, activate all my supplies one by one and then you drive up to me and ask me to overdrive, then I won't do it because it's not a good time to use it.

In CTF I always try to stick around mid-field with overdrive ready, so that I can meet and assist my teammates, who are running away with the enemy flag. They are likely to be low on health with supplies running out, so my overdrive would be of great assistance. In other game modes I use overdrive when at least 2 other players are next to me and no-one has a lot of supplies still active.

So don't assume that people are "lazy" when they don't use the overdrive when you want them to.

This has been discussed many times in different threads.

What you say may be true for you personally, as you help your team with it but...

I see so many times half my team has overdrive available. They sit near base never venturing out, with the bright white star on their tank.

Even when enemy invades the base they do not use it, with many team-mates around. So some/all the following could be the case...

1) They don't know how to use it - even after all this time. But - we try to tell them how - no response.

2) They are saving it for Gold-drop.  Saving a team-based utility to selfishly improve their 10% chance of grabbing a gold that might fall while the team loses the battle.

3) They are mults and will just not help the team.

Due to the above I feel that Overdrive just helps the team that is doing well. It has the effect of making the "losing" team lose even more.

Until the majority uses it properly it will hurt team-battles, making them more unbalanced.

What's there to discuss? It's ruined the game!

Absolutely. It has become a "mob drug" that prevents good play from succeeding. Almost got him dead? -- NO! His teammate has overdrive!

I have occasionally benefited from it when attacking, but the immature numbskulls (who apparently make up the majority of Tanki players) think that they *deserve* my Overdrive when I am playing strategically: help them now or save the flag defenders? I have to decide, not them!

I have had people push, almost flip me when they can only see what they want for themselves. Want supplies? Buy them, fool!

Problem with OD is there are so many that do not use it, even when plenty of opportunities present themselves...

Some tankers hold onto it for that "perfect moment" that never arrives, or for Gold that might arrive.

Many times half my team has the star in ready mode but won't activate it when near team-mates and enemy is storming base.

Great way to lose a battle when enemy uses it regularly and your own team does not.

News flash... it re-genrates, and the more you use the more often you (team) get it back.

I personally object to those who want you to use the overdrive for THEM. These are the same baby-brains who shove you off a parapet when you're on their team, or spent a whole battle trying to push you into the line of fire until you quit, just to keep you from scoring or "stealing" their kills.

I can only hope that they all find themselves unemployable when they flunk (junior?) high school.

In Team battles do you regularly share the OverDrive with team-mates?

Or do you hold onto it even though team-mates (and yourself) can benefit from it.

Overdrive needs a 2nd countdown - one that shows after (2 min?) it will automatically activate even if shift not pressed.

Will be useful in team battles due to...

- selfish people in team battles holding onto it for gold

- people that still somehow do not understand how to use it

- mults just sitting there - someone on your team might luck out and be next to the mult when OD actvates.

If tanker can't find a strategic time to activate within 2 min (of a 15 min battle!) then there really is no hope.

I'm sick of half my team running around with the white star while enemy is pummeling us.

At this point choice should be removed.

Well said. This is especially annoying when I use Shaft. When I recieve an OD from someone else and the star pops up while the other OD is still active, I obviously want to make the most out of it and wait out the overdrive before I activate my own.

Almost all the time someone slams into me and throws me off aim. When I tell them to stop they either say asgafhasgh in cyrellic or blame me for not pressing Shift. Like you said; I am the one who decides, not them. Not using the overdrive at all is a different story.

On the one hand I am waiting for hull ODs because I hate the current one. On the other hand I have no idea how the hull ODs will affect balance, and I am afraid they could be worse.

yeah... not sure how the Viking OD (faster reload) will balance out with say Dictator (current OD).

What % will they increase reload by?  if 50% that will seem fast... with DPS at 150%.  Then add ability to tack on a DD for 300% total. Seems great. Until you realize Dictator will have 200% attack AND 200% defense. And +40% speed. Plus the ability to enhance any nearby team-mates for same upgrade.

I'd think Viking OD would only come close to Dictator OD in DM battles where the team-mate enhancement does not apply.

Perhaps they are using it to balance Dictator.  Give the strongest overdrive to the weakest medium hull. Viking and Hunter at this point are better options.

I suppose Viking's OD would be quite useful for short range turrets. Imagine an Isida or Firebird with inexhaustible charge - especially a Firebird with the alteration. If driving into an enemy base with say DD or DA it could wreck havoc.

Query to Devs...

Does OD re-set to 0% if you stay in same battle when battle ends and you switch from Blue to Red?

Example... OD at 90% when battle ends playing Blue.  Click "stay in battle" button and switch to Red.

At start of next battle is your OverDrive supposed to re-set to 0%.

Seems like some instances players have OverDrive within 30 seconds of battle starting - way too early.

So did their OD % carry over from last battle?

This game has devolved into "team who abuses the overdrive feature first wins"

It makes you nearly unkillable and requires little skill. It's an easy way to get full supplies.

Also for some reason it broke for me

I press shift and it don't do nothing

I strongly dislike this feature and hope something is done to improve it.

Topic Merged.

I disagree with your statement of of 'abuses overdrive feature'. Its really not abuse, just a smart team using it to thier advantage, if both teams were to do this it would actually be an amazing addition being used the way it was intended.

You are somewhat incorrect in saying that it doesn't require skill, since it does need a decent amount of team coordination to be used successfully. Sadly, this barely ever happens.

Are you sure your Overdrive is charged to 100% when you press shift? If yes have you checked your control settings to make sure it is set to 'Shift'?

I strongly dislike this feature and hope something is done to improve it.

If it were to be improved I think the best way would be to remove the sharing (maybe limit to 1-2 players) and decrease the charge time, thay way every team member would have to work to earn their own OD.

There are new Overdrives coming in 2018 however so I doubt that any major changes will happen until those arrive.

Using or not using the OD is a matter of player skill or lack thereof. Playing battles in the top third of the ranks and there are still tankers who can't turn their turret and twins with a finger jammed on the space bar permanently. The OD is there for when it's needed. if the players don't know how to use it then they are no better then the forward turret mob. Question is how they got to a decent rank without OD?

I play goalkeeper most of the times DR. I'll hold on to my overdrive until it's needed. I've lost count of the number of times I've OD'd at the right time and saved the flag, Or OD'd a bunch of defenders when a wave of the enemy arrive.

My message would be if you want an overdrive go earn it.

Please rename this topic's title to "Let's Discuss Overdrive" to "Let's Discuss Overdrives". The "s" at the end of overdrive is missing. The reason for that is because there are more than one overdrive in the game.

Quite sometime ago, the developers mentioned in a few V-Log episodes that they were going to add more overdrives to Tanki Online. Did they stop developing them? Why happened to the new overdrives?

It's quite a long time now since V-Log 147 has been released and discussed about new overdrives. I hope the this new year's V-Log will discuss about the new overdrives again and mention when they shall be released.

TANKI PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THIS POST

Point 1 TANKI used to be simple. now even more so spend more win more!

Point 2 TANKI only care about Russian players not the rest of the world

Point 3 Railgun has and always will be TANKI favourite turret proven by its popularity in ESP games.

Point 4 Overdrive is the worst update in history it favours rapid fire weapons over magnum, shaft where you may get 1 shot off in the time.

Point 5 Get rid of the laser for Shaft. The whole point of being a sniper is to remain unseen... do you understand that?

Point 6 Nothing against Russians but please bring back Euro servers. I understand basic French German Spanish so i can fight in Team games. but Russian i have no idea.

Point 7 Get rid of overdrive it has not enhaned the game just Dumbed it down.

If you do not leave this post up it shows you do not care!!
