Hunter OD is short range - many enemies can easily kill the Hunter with their own OD before it gets withing range.

22m radius is "short"?

Did you want it to have a 96m radius?

Compared to range of many turrets?  yes, I consider it short.  Hammer Duplet can kill a Hunter before it's in range.

Why not round it off to 100?

Are you using it as an offensive ability or what are you doing that you're failing to successfully activate the EMP?

It can apply to any situation.  Any turrets with a range > than 22m have a chance to prevent it's use. Obviously the turret would need ability to deal a lot of damage quickly.

How do ppl always ignore the best part of hornets overdrive. I can instakill a mammoth with armor and 50% prot with hammer duplettb

I wouldn't say that they ignore them. I'd say that they just don't notice it (somehow).

When they use it, what is being presented to them is the enemies' positions and HP bars. You would have to attack the enemies to notice the Overdrive ignoring enemy protections. Surely they would have used it with double damage and saw that they killed a player who has double armour enabled from full health to 0.

Another factor may be the animation for the Overdrive. It would make it look like some kind of radar or sonar, so they would initially relate that to them now knowing the enemies' positions and HP bars.

I guess the players you're up against figured out the best counter(s) to an EMP preparing Hunter, or found something that works for them.

You said "ignore". If you take out the "e" and add "ant" then there's your answer.

The majority of the people are just so Damn ignorant.

Firebird , Freeze and Isida all receive a 3x damage boost when using Viking's Overdrive.

I've tested Hammer, and from what I'm seeing, it dealt 1,003 damage for a regular shot, 2,007 damage for an Overdrive shot and 3,011 damage for an Overdrive shot with double damage enabled.

So Hammer gets a 2x damage boost when using the Overdrive and that damage increases by an additional 50% when using double damage. '

Twins seems to get a 2.2x damage boost. With double damage, it increases by an additional ~50%.

Ricochet seems to get a 2x damage boost. With double damage, it increases by an additional ~60%. I want to believe it is 50% and that 60% was just the result of getting damage on the edge of the higher end of the damage range.

While testing Hammer's damage boost, I had shot him to make sure I was doing 1,003 damage and I did 993 damage. I knew that one pellet of my Hammer does more than 100 damage so i couldn't have missed a pellet. THe only other explanation was him using a drone.

Doesn-t-know-2.png

After he unequipped it, he questioned the integrity of my actions (why I had wanted him there).

I wonder what he thought those two shields on his drones' characteristics meant.

I can't disagree with you... But when a lot of the turrets use the Viking Overdrive, it seems as if it is an almost instant kill... As if the damage multiplayer was making damage x5 or something... One shot from rail M1 / M2 (without DD) kills my Dictator M2 (6 upgrades) with a shield. Idk if that's a bug or something, but if what you said is correct, it should not be doung that much damage.

P.S. Looking for 7 members to make a Club - if you are interested, you may PM me (but you have to be active-ish).

I have not tried it with Railgun since its damage range is too wide for me to get an accurate approximation. I would have tried it with Shell Stabilisation if I had it but I wouldn't know if that gets a different damage boost to the other Railguns and all that possible stuff.

Alterations affect Viking's Overdrive. Assuming that that Railgun is M3 (M2 10/10), the most damage it can potentially do without double damage is 2403.8 damage. That is if the Railgun is using Shell Destabilisation. Assuming that Viking's Overdrive gives a 2x boost to Railgun, then the most damage it can do while using the Overdrive (without double damage) is 4807.6 damage. Since you have double armour enabled (and you said that the player didn't have double damage enabled), it is not possible for them to have one-shotted (from full health) you without the need for using double damage. You did not mention how much HP you had left so I assumed that you were at full HP.

This was a great battle with Dictator. I got my Overdrive 7 times from capturing flags and killing unprotected enemies and gaining assists. Gave my Overdrive to my teammates each time and it was hell for the blue team.

Finally someone seeing dictator's strengths and not "eh it's plain drugs it must be weak"!

The thrill in playing Dictator for me is to give my teammates as many Overdrives (as well as supplies) as possible so that my team can prevail. It's so nice to motivate my injured teammates with supplies, a repair kit and 50% of their Overdrive charge which usually gives them it on the spot.

Only some players have thanked me and I am very grateful for Dictators that take the time to come over to me before using their Overdrive. If a Dictator uses its Overdrive only on me, I'd be honoured. I still see many Dictators that use it on themselves. It's either they don't know that it gives allies 50% Overdrive charge and (somehow) don't know that it gives other allies those supplies they got as well, or they don't want their allies to take their kills because of the Overdrive charge given as well as the supplies. I scoff every time I see a Dictator ignore their team and go off alone to use their Overdrive but what can I expect? I don't see much teamwork as I used to.

Updated

Alright, this is the data I'm gathering.

% Charge for each hull when obtaining a kill:

Wasp:  10%

Hornet:  8%

Hunter:  8%

Viking:  8%

Dictator:  10%

Titan:  8%

Mammoth:  8%

Decided to try Wasp out on a Master Corporal account to see how deadly it really is. I wasn't focusing on the charge per kill at first because since it charges so quickly, I may mistake an 8% increase for a 10 or 11% increase. My first bomb caught two players. I looked at my charge and I had 21% charge. Alright then, it was then when I started to look at the % charge per kill closely. I deduced that I got 10% every time I killed someone. I jumped on another account where I wouldn't be such a detriment to my team if I used M0 Wasp, I had the same 10% charge per kill there and got a nice score:

M2 Gauss + M0 Wasp:

Wasp-Gauss.png

8 of those kills bomb kills. I remember getting 6 bombs in that battle. There were two other Wasps on the team, one of them in the picture.

So Wasp has the fastest recharge rate and gets the most % charge per kill (tied with Dictator). As for performing other actions, I got 49% charge from capturing a flag.

I'll test to see if Dictator and Wasp get more Overdrive charge for other actions besides kills.

I just realized the tanks I kill when using Viking's overdrive do not contribute to the charging of it, and it already takes more than 4 minutes to fully recharge.

Want evidence of what I've said? Well I killed 3 tanks when using it in a match, but after those 7 seconds ended the OD meter had barely charged to 10%, while it was supposed to be +25% based on the information given above. I am sure this isn't a bug and that Viking's overdrive really is bad, which I don't really mind because I'm not a fan of it, but hey at least it does give its users some sort of adrenaline rush when activated, perhaps that's the only interesting thing about it.

Interesting. I would have assumed that gaining charge from the Overdrive kills was incentive to use it on groups of enemies.

Mammoth has what Viking has a s well. You cannot gain charge from actions during the Overdrive. That is why I wait until my Overdrive is done, and then capture flags and rugby balls. I find that a harsh nerf to be honest.

I guess they see Viking's Overdrive as a guaranteed game-changer. I mean, I'm seeing so many of them in Legend battles that there must be some sort of worth using Viking as a whole.

Nicely done. Try using it with the Driver drone and you'll be able to pull off even more activations in one game. I once got 8 on a Yorkshire TDM with Vulcan by controlling the Nuclear Energy drop.

You're right. You're absolutely right. Not many people enjoy playing Dictator anymore, because, no, they'd much rather go by themselves with Viking or Wasp. What ticks me off even more is when someone takes the Nuclear Energy box for themselves instead of leaving it for friendly Dictators. That's not teamwork at all.

Oh, I didn't know Mammoth's OD had the same issue. I'm guessing the overdrives meant for offense do not get a bonus charge from the kills they achieve, and only the defense and support based ones do. That's fair enough but I'd rather the devs not mess with them anymore.

If Mammoth can't get +charge for capping flag in Assault with OD activated I see no reason why Wasp should get +charge when they kill 3 tanks with 1 bomb.  Hardly seems fair...

To be fair, wasps overdrive doesnt have time active. It just drops the bomb, which may do nothing. Viking pops overdrive and kills 2-4 ppl. Same with mammoth. Wasps bomb doesnt have the raw power that the others have

Then why are wasps everywhere in low ranks, especially in team battles?

Because low rank hulls literally cannot reverse in time to escape, so it's nearly always a guaranteed kill.
