Devs are already too into it for them to look the other direction.

i am aware but i hope they stop after it, its losing the basic tankwafare idea more taking on some fantasy form.... i dont have alot of exp with fantasy so dont judge me if im a fantasy hater

I like fantasy games - nothing wrong with them.

 

But combining them with tank-battle games... Blecchhh.   :o

That's true, but it can be deactivated by hunter's OD and also, it takes 5 seconds to go off and any medium/light hull can get out if it's radius in that time without speed boost.

They're idiots if they use it for anything but close ranged weapons.

 

The extra 0.5 units of speed is not worth the loss of an immense 300 units of weight.

I happened to have Viking m3 when they made that ridiculous switch with Hunter.

So I was not going to invest in another medium hull that was quite similar to what I already have.

Would rather suffer with it than give in to Devs and pay for another medium hull.

I meant anyone that bought it after the October 2016 rebalance, yes me included, but I did smarten up when I realized that Viking wasn't gonna get its weight back, so I bought hunter.

Can't afford to double-down on medium hulls.

 

My alt account though kept Hunter from the beginning - just keeps MU-ing it when sales occur.

Good choice. I bought M1 Dictator when I was in WO ranks, that was a huge mistake. Now I am basically forced to use Titan or Hornet, they are my only M2 hulls.

That really pales in comparison to the size of the mistake that I made when I decided to make rail and hornet as my main combo back in late 2015.

I don't see the need of Overdrives, hulls are already different enough at different modification levels, some are stronger and some are weaker; some unlock earlier and some unlock later; and kits being available 2 ranks earlier in the Shop complicates things even more.

 

If you attach each Overdrive to a specific Hull you'll frustrate players even more, you may end up with fewer and fewer players, buyers fighting other buyers.

Hunter WILL be the best, because it can counter everything: Juggernaut, Viking, and especially Mammoth and Wasp. This is why you have to upgrade your Hunter if you want to compete.

I disagree on Juggernaut. It's supposed to have unlimited use of DA,DP&SB. So, they can't cool down. It may reset jug's OD though.

After seeing viking's overdrive would anyone really think they're all balanced?

What's a bomb or x-ray vision or disabling electric field gonna do? Nothing is gonna stop the rapid firing rate, you're gonna die in no time.

 

For example, the damage of isida with viking's overdrive and a double damage is 8000 per second (found that from the v-log figures)... sheesh!

The damage increases by 4 times. So its 882 damage per pick instead of the usual 220 per tick.

I just watched the new vlog yesterday and it seems to me that Pony Tail Boy and the Dev's are still making the same mistakes. Even when they have a good idea they still do things to ruin it.

 

Take for example the new proposed overdrives. I have come to like the idea of the overdrives. I see huge potential in them, but I think it is a huge mistake to have them tied to specific hulls. I think it would be more popular and better received if the new overdrives were introduced as new modules that could be interchangeable between hulls. This would be in harmony with the stated purpose of the Dev's to make our tanks fully configurable to our preferences. We saw the disaster that the original protection scheme was and how much better it is since they fixed it by giving us free choice of what protections we want to run. Why is it so much better now? Quite simply because we now have choice and can more easily configure our protections to handle the most pressing threats we face in battle. It should be the same with the overdrives. It would fall in line with every other aspect of tank building in the game... Choice of turrets, Choice of hulls, Choice of protections, Choice of paints, and Choice of drones. Why would you lock overdrives in? Especially tying what will be probably the most desired overdrive to the least popular hull.

 

This is something that should seriously be considered, especially since the game is still hemorrhaging players. I'm not saying that the current proposal will kill the game, but the current proposal for overdrives is not ideal for helping retain or attract new players. If the overdrives were interchangeable between hulls it would make more current players happy with it, thus retaining them. Also it would add something to the game that, I think with all the other changes, would attract new players due to the added versatility and freedom of choice on tank builds. One of the things that causes players to quit playing certain games is frustration at not being able have the builds they want. I think forcing players to use certain hulls to be able to use a certain overdrive will add to that frustration. There are those who hate heavy hulls, but if they want shield or invulnerability they are forced to use them. There are those who love the current overdrive but most hate the Dictator. Speaking of which.... the current overdrive has become such an integral part of most team battles that it would be a serious frustration to many to lose that ability for one that they would have little use for.

 

Lastly how is the overdrive going to work now. When triggered in close proximity to others on the same team will it trigger that person's overdrive even if different from the person who initiated the overdrive? Will neighboring team members have the same overdrive activated as the person who just activated theirs? These are questions that need to still be clarified and answered.

 

I sincerely hope that Pony Tail Boy and the Dev's fully explore these possibilities before the release these new overdrives instead of stubbornly and in a narrow-minded way push ahead with this unfinished idea. It may even mean delaying it to get it right, but it would be worth it in the long run. It's a good idea and it's an opportunity that could improve the game, help retain players and attract new players, so it shouldn't be wasted by bad implementation. Like I said the number of players continues to go down. To stop it, every addition to the game needs to count. There is no more room for mistakes.

 

Hopefully Pony Tail Boy and the Dev's will listen. I hope that they will trust the Community. We know overdrives are coming. Some are looking forward to it, some aren't. I would hope that the Dev's would run a survey to see what we want for a change. Why not implement it in a way that will make the most players happy? It probably won't hurt and more than likely will improve your standing in the Community. Years of forcing changes down our throats has lead to people leaving the game in droves. If we feel like we're being listened too, even a little bit, then more people will probably stay. Save the game, allow player input.

It would be too unbalanced if wasp could get mammoths overdrive. It could activate overdrive, steal the flag without any trouble.

How fast will that wasp be moving?

That's a fair point . Giving wasp mammoth's OD would make it a camping hull which is precisely what Wasp isn't supposed to be.

Wasp with Mammoth OD would not camp. It would simply kill enemies by ramming them. It would just rush, activate OD and chase the enemies to death.

 

By the way, Wasp Rail (BP) is a brilliant camping combo. It can simply wait for enemy campers to turn turrets away to get some easy kills and then do that perfectly timed peek-a-boo which results in showing only about ½ of hull side for about ½ second. Enemy campers have no time to react unless they were hidden and waited for that Wasp to peek.

 

Rail is ideal for this because of high damage per shot. Thunder and Smoky have smaller damage per shot (but higher DPS) so they can not wait 10 or 15 seconds to get only 1 shot without taking damage. Rail can do that.

I'll ask again ... ... How fast will Wasp (with Mammoth OD activated) be traveling?

 

Does Mammoth OD not affect the speed of the tank?  By a LOT?

It does, the tank moves more slowly.

Don't. Hornet is better than Wasp by its stability. For me... I go for Hornet-Shaft than Wasp-Shaft

BP is better for camping, XP for attacking. Rail is also good with medium hulls - Dictator for camping, Viking for attacking and Hunter as the most versatile hull is good in both camping and attacking.

Distance is fubar for OD.

 

Often, I pull up close to a teammate and activate overdrive, and he doesn't get it. Likewise in reverse. That is, I can be close to a teammate who activiates overdrive and I do not receive the boosts.

 

What is the distance supposed to be?

 

I cannot find it in the wiki.
