Distance is fubar for OD.

 

Often, I pull up close to a teammate and activate overdrive, and he doesn't get it. Likewise in reverse. That is, I can be close to a teammate who activiates overdrive and I do not receive the boosts.

 

What is the distance supposed to be?

 

I cannot find it in the wiki.

In a typical battle, I face at least one Vulcan with incendiary band, a Firebird, a Railgun, a Thunder, a Magnum or a Striker, and a Hammer, and more than one Saboteur drone. Thus, I need at least seven protections to be able to expect to survive a run with a flag. Sure, I can equip mine protection, but with a dozen mines to cross, that does no good. And then, I'm one more short against the heavy guns, which, of course, include Shaft, but they aren't in at least 40% of the battles. I forgot to mention Freeze, which are in most battles, but protection against them is usually ineffective, so why worry about that one?

 

The Saboteur drone was a mistake. Alterations that make a turret require two protections were a mistake.

 

Edit: I saw I had a comment on "Overdrive." I didn't remember. I see I thought I was typing in Alterations, rather than Overdrives.

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes you are actually using one of those new overdrives that theoretically haven't been yet introduced in the game? It happens on extremely rare occasions so I'm not sure if it's just the visual effect that's different or the effect of the OD is modified as well.

It is just a visual effect. I've been noticing it happening more frequently though. I would see only one Wasp time bomb explosion every 6 or so battles games but now I've been seeing it every 2-3 battles.

It is just a visual effect. I've been noticing it happening more frequently though. I would see only one Wasp time bomb explosion every 6 or so battles games but now I've been seeing it every 2-3 battles.

I know that it has been going on for a while. I was just saying that I've been seeing it more frequently recently when others and myself included activate the Overdrives. Maybe we're just lucky to be getting it frequently or maybe they changed it to be more frequent.

In v-log 194 at precisely 2:25, we saw the damage of a reasonably upgraded isida was four times higher after activating the overdrive, but that was without supplies. With double damage an m4 isida will deal 2000dmg. per tick, which translates into a DPS of 8000.

 

But we're not quite done yet. If you use the booster drone with that, it can boost the damage even further, which means the 8000 DPS will become 12,000 DPS if the drone is not upgraded at all, and 24,000 DPS if the drone is fully upgraded. Even though upgrading the drone is expensive and the boost effect lasts only for 3-5 seconds, the damage is devastating. And even without the drone nothing can stand a chance against you in the duration of the overdrive, except hunter with a ready overdrive.

 

And then on the other hand, you got Dictator whose OD just humbly activates all the supplies, nothing else.. talk about imbalance here lol.

I agree that having a shared OD is no guarantee of success. 

 

There are a lot of selfish players out there.  Had some on my team in CTF last night.  Two of us trying to take down flag-stealer and my team-mate had the white star.  But refused to activate it and... flag stealer got away.  Just dumb.

 

But the potential is there.  4 or 5 tanks all powered up can do a lot.

I agree that having a shared OD is no guarantee of success. 

 

There are a lot of selfish players out there.  Had some on my team in CTF last night.  Two of us trying to take down flag-stealer and my team-mate had the white star.  But refused to activate it and... flag stealer got away.  Just dumb.

Yup, sadly it is this kind of selfish gameplay, where teamwork is doomed and personal gains dominate, that these new updates seem to be encouraging.

 

Undeniably though, when used strategically Dictator's overdrive can be much more beneficial. Due to the current conditions in battles however, I believe a good solution to the upcoming imbalance is for Viking's overdrive to be nerfed considerably.

Didn't know the new Overdrives were already out, but today I've seen the white igloo effect on one tank and just now I've been in one battle and there was an ENORMOUS explosion on the red base.

Think Meteor Week, but without the container.

 

The big explosion killed everything within radius of about 5-6 tank lengths. 

That's gonna sting.

They are being tested in the test servers. Also there's an exploit with Titan's overdrive where you can place more shields really fast while inside.

Its just the graphics being tested on the main server as far as I know. You say the OD actually did damage? Out of curiosity, what symbol was shown in the battle log?

I didn't notice any symbol,  I was too gobsmacked at the sudden massive cloud of flame and wondering where all the tanks went.

Plus, I was too busy typing "what the xxxx was that?" in team chat to look at the battle log.

 

Next time I'll try to get a screenshot.

ODs have been tested for a few weeks or so. Someone used a dome on me and when I went to share my OD on someone else, it wasn't what I expected. But that only lasted a day.
