Tanki: Dying... dying... dead?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Earlier this year, the battles seemed endless; well, never-ending. Log on most any time of day, you would find no shortage of people to battle and joust with. Servers in two, maybe three different nations or nationalities.

Then a bunch of "EU" servers were unleashed, and to what? They're mostly empty, most of the time.

Did people, players, users, finally move on?

Is Tanki dying?

They are not mostly empty. They are full of battles not suited to your rank. Just to to the server that's highlighted white in the server list - that one will have the most battles for you.

The EU servers were introduced to combine all players into one big community. Yes, it's very inconvenient in terms of communication in team battles, but there is a massive benefit in the fact that players are not divided into separate battles based on language, so now you have more people to play with (more battles, games fill up faster, etc.)

Did people, players, users, finally move on?

Yes, players move on, as they always have. A normal person won't play the same game for 3-4 years in a row. They usually get bored and move on to newer and more interesting games. And since Devs stopped advertising their game, new players no longer replace the ones that leave.

Is Tanki dying?

Tanki is going through a period of change where the older style of the game is being changed into a new style to adapt to new audiences. You could call it a "midlife crisis" of sorts :)

After some time is will settle down and things should get much better.

Did Americans, in particular, pull back from a nation that most likely hacked into their democracy?

Please don't bring politics into this. Political discussion is prohibited by game rules.

I've been playing tanki since it came out of beta. Tanki won't die anytime soon. Updates will continue, players will leave maybe because of the updates or for personal reasons. But potentially new players will see links on other websites, like miniclip.com. The links will be clicked out of curiosity. If they like what the read and/or see, they will join the Tanki Community and take the place of those who left.

I've played other multiplayer games that went through complete workovers. Old players left, including me, because we weren't able to adapt and the numbers took a nosedive. Some were abandoned by the Dev's but others survived because of curious new players, as mentioned above. They didn't go through all the changes so they were able to learn the game from scratch.

Some of the games died and then abandoned by the Dev's because too many changes were done all at once, even to the point of shutting down the game for a period of time, leaving a message in big red letters Under Construction. Will reopen on (date).

I think the Dev's of Tanki are trying to prevent that from happening by introducing the updates a little at a time to give the older players a chance to adapt.

Yes, Tanki is marching on, new players will join and learn the game from scratch. Old players will learn to adapt or quit.

I spent all morning playing Tanki today and could not find a single battle that did not turn into a gross mismatch.  And they are all always jammed with noobs.  You can never get an interesting hide-and-seek kind of challenge going because every game is set up for 10 per side.

Tanki is struggling because the devs have made it BORING.

Soon everyone will get a free pro pass once matchmaking is out, don't worry if you don't like huge 10v10 battles (personally I don't either, but the devs gave us options for ppl like us too ;) )

In what way boring however? 3 posts above you someone is saying there are too many changes, meaning you've always got to find ways to adapt to the situation of the game... and creating different aspects to make the game more interesting and diverse. Also don't forget the huge update of overdrives :D

Well Tanki X is available, consoles are more fun and relevant. This game is boring. Call the ambulance cause Tanki just died!!  3 2 1 CLEAR!! Nope Tanki is gone...  It's on it's death bed with only 29k players. Rest In Peace Tanki Online. Rest In Peace....  I was at the funeral of Tanki. It was sad. The funeral was the Matchmaking system. R.I.P...  Goodbye Tanki...  I hope you are in a better place now.

A lot of player have created map on other server than the one assigned first to their rank in order to complete some daily mission in a faster way, especially for the finish first. So lots of battle suited for your rank have been spread out on other servers, zo you will have to look on more serveurs to find one battle that you like (probably a winning team with less player). A direct consequence of the mission update. Hopefully this would be fixed with MM and/ or better missions.

Ok I agree this game is DYING
I started in around 3 years ago, in 2014. Back then there were so many people on. 2015 was the boom of Tanki, where there were like 60000 people on at a time.
Now I come back, and I see 6000 people on. SIX THOUSAND. That is 90% less than what was before. You used to look at tanki, every server was completely white and full (sometimes I couldn't even get on my desired server). Now? Every server is blank, to the point where you just see like 10 pro pass battles and half of them are parkour.
Seriously, the downfall of this game was when they made it so you can't create your own battles. WHO IN THE UNIVERSE THOUGHT OF THAT. It is literally stupid, since I now can't 1v1 my friends. it's also stupid now that you can't even create battles. The game is stupid and dead now, and that's all because of the devlopment of this game (money first)
also tanki x is garbage and i bet most of this stuff was to milk out last minute money so tanki could move onto tanki x
buisness wise, that is smart, but they should have known tanki x was gonna be dead in the first month so like this was a terrible buisness move on tanki's part

and all these optimistic staff,
they are just trying to be optimistic because they dont want the game to die. I for a fact know most staff know this game is pretty much dead, but they continue to be optimistic. Not sure what optimism does when the downfall of this game is almost certain unless the devs use a brain for once
'updates' they are garbage
my school used to play this game completely---but when one of my friends said that you cant create battles no one has played ever since

so lets not be optimistic and state the facts. it might get some people to know whats good for them (quit while your ahead like me)

and now ill probably be warned for pessimism and negativity
realize, im speaking the facts

If you didn't talk your opinion with insults, you wouldn't get a warning or maybe a ban. :)

And now I'll probably be insulted by you due to saying the true

Realize, I'm speaking the facts ;)

Also, it would be better if you stopped talking without knowing the plans of TO.

TO is planning to release the Matcmaking system, it would be a hit for the game and it will get better. And if you don't know how the MM system could benefit you... well, it will remove the PRO pass and you will be able to create as many battles as you can with the ability of enable/disable all the charateristics.

After this update, and some adjustments more, TO is planning to advertise the game, so, more players will join.

PS: I hope them not to cry for everything like people like you lol

Deal with the changes and get used to them!

Overdrives aren't what they were when introduced and were never needed just a way for devs to get players to spend crystals earned and mostly bought. Drugs were never needed and mostly only used by the less experienced or those with deep pockets. Drugs were predominately used by people in CTF games that had teammates who don't know how to work together to achieve a successful capture.

29k well just 45 mins from server reset and only 5 k in players and yesterday Aug 18 after server reset there were only 4 k in players only 3 servers where I could find a battle at my highest rank. Everytime I joined a battle to make the teams 2 vs 2 the player on my team left for the other side or someone joined my side and the other two players from the opposing side left. Real fun these dying days.

Just two weeks ago there were 47k players on after server reset on a Friday night. Yesterday was Friday night.

Just a year ago there were 300k players on a Friday night. Death has come to the game we all loved and knew well.

they are just trying to be optimistic because they dont want the game to die. I for a fact know most staff know this game is pretty much dead, but they continue to be optimistic. Not sure what optimism does when the downfall of this game is almost certain unless the devs use a brain for once

Devs should revert back to a year ago game play and no MM no Overdrive and no re-balance of tanks. Even when hammer and Vulcan were more powerful than rail and shaft I still could have fun in this game. Even the fact that a rail that is mid firing in the real world could not be stopped by being destroyed, the projectile moves faster than any gunpowder shell that it would go on in the direction it was fired taking out that what it was trained on. Isida was powerful too and if was on your side or your personal health box you were near indestructible. Today Isida is able to keep a shaft alive unless three tanks fire at it at once, it is only not able to replenish its own health the way it used to.

It is my belief that when Seymon said he had to make the game more difficult for us he instead was saying to his tanki enemies he was making what he and the other developers have achieved impossible for anyone else to achieve. So they can go into the history books as some awesome players and the ones that came after cannot achieve better results then them. I say we should all take one day and not play not one of us in protest of all the changes of this past year.

There are so few players spread over so many servers you have to visit many to find which has a battle to go to. even using battle button and buttons at bottom to screen which battle type you are looking for doesn't help should you try it in an empty server it makes the battle type you requested with a map not of your choosing and there you can wait for quite some time before someone might come.

Why the devs don't close a few servers and save some cash is beyond me, there by making the servers left on more full and show more load. At least then you could find a server with games without having to search each one in vain.

There's a thing called "timezones". Plus, out of the 30 million+ "Registered Users", 3/4 of them are probably people who've quitted and/or alternate accounts. I alone have 4 accounts, imagine how many a buyer would have.

Yes, players move on, as they always have. A normal person won't play the same game for 3-4 years in a row. They usually get bored and move on to newer and more interesting games.

I playing this game 5 years in a row. I think it's time that I go visit doctor or a shrink, to see if I'm still normal.

The problem is that devs have been making changes and hear me out, they are useless. I saw this coming ever since the first equipment balance, the game suddenly became boring. They changed a lot features and began to add some that NO ONE ASKED FOR...  All these moderators out here talking about how Tanki is experiencing change and all that ignorant jazz, you're deluded (quit sucking Tanki's d- ). Quit taking it up the rear and being overly positive, it's cringey as hell. Another thing that has managed to murder this game is the behaviour and management of the moderators. Since I started playing 2 years ago, I think, I have never seen new moderators or moderators striped of their titles for inappropriate conduct, none of that. Tanki became lazy and focused more on getting as much money as possible. That's just wrong. Not only that, most of these moderators are up stuck 40-year-olds who live in their parents' basement and the only way they feel they can have just a little bit of control over their lives is to be absolute nonces on an MMO, accept it if you're reading this.

Anyways, I logged into for the first time in about 3 months just to check if normie players have begun to realise that the game is absolute trash at this point. Cedric leaving the team just made me crease and highlights how the project has no future.

*cba with grammar if anyhing is wrong, I can spell and construct sentences effectively but this crap is too irrelevant to go back and check for inconsistencies, loool.

PEACE OUT NONCES

There are very few battles for Legends, and a total of (around) 5 balanced battles at a time on all servers combined for Legends (excluding XP and BP format). The number of battles available for each rank has drastically decreased the last 1-2 year(s) and the number of balanced battles has even more drastically decreased. Developers have told us they stopped advertising TO as they used to in the past until the game looks like what they've got in mind. So, yeah, currently the game is kinda dying unfortunately.

This game is boring. Saving up for ages, it's just boring. I hardly even play anymore. Too boring. I just come online to the forum, cause that's literally the only good thing left of this game.

How are overdrives getting players to spend crystals..?

Ye, drugs were never needed besides to keep a constant cash flow, and in the beginning devs made the mistake of making them too powerful, but they have clearly noticed this mistake and they are trying to revert it as can be seen due to the repair update. Don't worry man, soon pro battle pass will be free, and you can create battles in whatever way you want, ie, without drugs ;)

i've known Tanki since 2012, but i'm not a regular player as this game gets sooo boring for me after a while.

i play once in a while, but its always such an unpleasant experience because this game is full of little kids that cry a lot if you teased them or just because you have M4 combo.

Tanki have the most Toxic community i have ever seen, and the last educated one as well, i can honestly say that i'm NOT honored to meet any of you guys.  :)

Tanki is already a dead game. Don't try to deny it, massive amounts of players already quit, yes you still get new players signing up but how long do they stick around for? Probably 1-2 weeks before they get bored of this game and quit as well.

I think one of the reasons battles for any rank are spread out in many servers is because of the long rank brackets.

I rarely use the Battle button and why play a battle where you are the 5th or 6th rank when the other team is full of high ranks. So some of us look for other servers, because in the original servers we were sent to, some of similar ranks than I used the Battle button, now the whole server is full of higher than i ranks. Other people just play those battles and they get spawn killed, and eventually they'll get tired and leave.

If the brackets were narrower, like 3 or 4 ranks wide, yes you read that right, then people wouldn't be jumping from server to server and battles would be more balanced and fun.
