Guide to TLVK

Recommended Posts

General Info:

Tanks Testing Tool LVK, or TLVK for short, is probably the most advanced modification of TTT out there created by the player ruslan_g02. It has a GUI, the best graphics out of all versions of TTT, and a huge amount of customization options, maps, and tools. However, since it is completely in Russian, it's not practical to use for the English player. This guide is intended to help you load in maps in TLVK and covers basic controls. Information about the other tools of TLVK will be added later.

Download TLVK (with English map names) here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ty9lafcko159q4/TVKL.zip?dl=0

Once you've downloaded TVKL.zip, extract the folder (if you can't do this, download 7-zip here). Here is what it should look like:

Launching Maps:

Launch the "TLVK 1.1(Launcher).exe" application. Note that "TLVK 1.0(Launcher).exe" also works, but in my opinion 1.1 is more user-friendly. A window should open. We are interested in the box on the top left, circled in red:

Click on this box. It will open a list of maps. Click on a map to view a preview image. Once you've chosen a map, click on the launch button (circled in red):

The map should load in. TLVK contains many controls which you can find in the "readme.txt" file in the main TLVK folder, but I'll outline the most important ones here.

Camera controls:

Mouse to look around, WASDEQ to move, hold down Shift to move faster.

Tank controls:

Ins - insert a tank

Del - delete a tank

F - select/deselect a tank (snaps your camera to the tank and gives you control over it)

N - if there are multiple tanks, selects the next tank

WASD to move, X and Z to turn turret, E and Q to adjust camera angle.

Numpad 1 and 3 - change the paint

Numpad 4 and 6 - change the hull

Numpad 7 and 9 - change the turret

] - change the firing animation (limited to Smoky, Twins, and Firebird)

K - flip your tank (useful if your tank is upside down)

L - blow up your tank

B - toggle skybox

If you want to go back to the main TLVK window, click the circled button:

Changing the skybox:

Click the circled box:

YRRiUgs.jpg

This window should pop up.

Press the arrow buttons to scroll through the skyboxes, and press "OK" to choose a skybox. After you have done this every map you launch will have that skybox until you change it.

Adding your own maps:

Although TLVK has a very large selection of maps (including some that were probably created by the author of the program), the point of TTT is to be able to test your own maps. To this go to the main TLVK folder and open the folder "Maps."

rFVleYA.jpg

Copy and paste your map into this folder. Make sure to give it a name that is NOT "map.xml." If you want your map to have a preview image, create a .jpg image and name it with the same name that your map file has. For example, if I made a map file called "containers.xml" I have to name the preview image as "containers.jpg."

Note that if you are going to make a map with AlternativaEditor, be attentive to what libraries you use! TLVK has a vast collection of prop libraries, however, many of them are incompatible with other versions of TTT.

Another note: TLVK has an option in the GUI to add your own map; however it's in Russian and in my opinion it's easier just to copy and paste files.

Settings:

Click the circled box:

dYnVi1J.jpg

This window should pop up.

I suggest you keep the "Open with" and "Debug mode" settings as they appear in the image. Feel free to play around with the tank settings though.

To save your changes, click the check mark in the upper right of the screen.

Note that this guide is still a work in progress. I plan to add instructions on how to create maps (great guide for mapmaking here) and use tara tools, but for now this is the end.

Can these controls be used in regular battle? Reason I asked, I noticed in the controls "k" will flip your tank if upside down. I've seen tanks in regular battle be completely upside down and flip back over....even Firebirds and Freeze.

Just asking.

No. That's probably lag on your end.

I hardly think so, I've seen it too many times. Mostly at the low ranks. Tank jumps from a cliff, lands on its nose and onto the back. Then it flips over on its tracks like a Railgun tank on its side, only these tanks are on their backs, not the side.

I don't think it's supported. The closest you can get would probably be with a night skybox.

I got that message when I tried to go to that setting where you change the skybox. You can find the text under 'details' in this spoiler:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Warning

Not shooting the messenger here, BUT, ThirdOnion, NORTON says this down load has a virus in it.  You translated all this for us, so kudos, but careful, looks like the download in not cool.  Maybe the programmer made something that works in hopes of getting it distributed and then you map test while they hack you.  Careful.  I have Norton quarantine the file and it then stopped working altogether, so this isn't a piggy back dropped after good code more than likely, it was written this way from the start.

Norton is notorious for being a terrible anti-virus . . .

The reason it detected something is probably because it doesn't recognize the source of the file (because the creator was just a Tanki player and not a company or anything) so to play it safe it flags it. I've ran Malwarebytes multiple times and it hasn't detected anything.

Fair enough, I'll redownload and run it by malware bytes

Norton says everything is a virus, I learned the hard way. And I'm stuck with crap Norton because my dad bought a subscription to it.  <_<
