Voting to choose maps in MMS

if you choose the maps s how will you improve

devs put in so much work if people starting to choose no one will play on unpopular maps

Some maps are "unpopular" for a reason.

 

How much work Devs put into a a map is irrelevant if players don't want to play it and it is "unpopular".

My idea is this: when players are about to join a random matchmaking battle, a list of between 4 and 6 maps (devs can decide real values) appears. Players click on their favourite map from the list to vote for it. Most voted map wins, if there is a draw, the result is random between the tied maps.

What a great idea!!

as so far developers have clearly been showing us that they do not intend to make map choice a feature of Matchmaking.

They don't want variety to be a feature of MM.

 

Or else, tell me why so many maps are not eligible for MM?

I doubt they intentionally don't want variety. What's the benefit of that to anyone (players OR devs)? The most likely reason is probably that adding more maps not only requires the initial effort of testing and editing the map to make it suitable for MM (which is a pain in the donkey because the editing tool is terrible), but it means that any future updates concerning MM maps, such as addition of the Nuclear Box supply drop zones, requires more work because there will be more maps to edit.

So when matchmaking's done creating the battle, not all players would be sent into the battle right away. Instead, everyone would have a window pop up on-screen with a battle chat where everyone can and make preparations together, if quick battle then the mode will be shown at the top. and, most importantly, there would be a box to the side with a dropdown underneath that lets everyone vote for the map, and it would show the map that currently has the most votes with the name the name of the map too. This window would last around 20 seconds, and by the end of the 20 seconds the map with the most votes wins, and if all maps voted for have the same number of votes, a random one would be selected out of the bunch. I think this update or an update similar to this is very necessary and will satisfy so many more players. It would solve a bunch of stupid problems like how you can't choose the map. How are MM maps chosen, anyways? I mean, I always get put in a certain selection of maps, and never, ever, (Like I mean 0-1 times in the past half a year) get put in my 2 favorite maps, Rio and Future? In fact I'm putting that very concern in the complaint book. I never get to play my favorite maps because of this hated (Rightly so) system. Wow. How ridiculous. Anyways, to me, there is no doubt this has to happen.

As far as I know, maps are chosen randomly. It's possible that you just get extremely unlucky and end up on the same few maps multiple times in a row.

Sorry, but that is impossible. There is a certain selection of maps (That I've basically memorized by now) that I only ever get put in.

Well, Matchmaking does have a list of around 30 maps which you can end up in, so not all 70+ maps are possible to be put into. But these 30 maps should all be selected randomly.

Sorry, but that is impossible. There is a certain selection of maps (That I've basically memorized by now) that I only ever get put in.

After 73 battles, I was put in 31 of the 32 maps available.

Never mind about my last message quoted on the same message above, I just checked. And well, I haven't been put in like half the maps on that list for half a year. So I don't know what is going on.

Really? That's...unfortunate. Although since those maps appear every day and i get them every day, it really feels like 10 maps in the MMS. Perhaps I'm just yearning for new maps. The list is 32 maps long yet feels like a lot less.

Actually I got a future TDM or something a month ago or so. But Rio, not in a very, very long time.

The matcmaking system selects players from a queue by GS and rank. Than randomly selects a map whith a theme.

Thats good, but many players exit from the battles because they dont't like the map or theme or both. And because of that, the other theme gain advantage because they have more players for some seconds, they capture flags, points, and than, from the other team, players who joined the battle, will exit because 'oh, a loser team'.

That can be solved with a new and good system, called the wote system. 

This system allow players, who selected to join in one battle, to vote out of four maps, and the map which get the most votes, will be selected. Players also can vote for the battle theme.

NOTE: I know that not 14 players selected when the battle starts, but when most of the players are selected, the voting screen appears, with four maps and all themes, and players can vote. There can be also a 'skip' . 

The vote system

Advanteges: The chance is bigger that you will play on a map what you like, and a theme what you like, and less players will exit when the battle starts. 

Disadvanteges: Some maps will be more popular than others.

NOTE: I know that it won't be easy to do for developers, but i hope that they will do this system, because MM will be more fun with this.

NOTE FOR NIGHT MODE: If 90% of the players agree to play in night mode AND this mode gets the most votes, than the battle will be in night mode. Players don't like night mode because they think that it's really dark, but it's not. You can clearly see an enemy from the other side of the map.

If devs don't agree to put this theme to MM, than this note isn't important.

yes, but good maps have combinations of both. I've recently played in skylark and thelosttemple and both have places for long range and short range turrets to dominate...they are very well designed maps and would be excellent additions to MM. The maps that have been added within the last year have been great! I really enjoy all the "old style" maps that I now get to play on regularly....doing this to more maps would improve MM experience

However, a voting option on the specific map for that battle won't always be fair, since the player's votes will be biased and players will get on average more extreme maps from the map pool. I don't mean that players shouldn't be able to vote on the maps in the map pool.

16 tanks voting odds are high AT LEAST a few tankers will not like the choice. Players will still leave the battle due to the map selected.

Players should have at least one long/medium range and one short range turret.  If not, alterations like RFM, MFS, and plasma core accelerators can do the job.
