Upgradable Overdrive

Overdrive one of the most useful things in game , and normal battles . 

My idea is a way to upgrade our overdrive system , how ? 

 

It's just a Example of price and level : 

M1 Overdrive (100k) : Increase in Range (50%) , this can help you with give more people the effect of overdrive . 

M2 Overdrive (200k) : increase in Speed (30%) , this can make your overdrive faster to restart . 

You can only use one (M) of course . 

 

Note : I only Posted Examples of level and price don't take it like this one .

I dislike the idea. Overdrive is one of the things that's meant to make the game more balanced by giving players an ability that they can use for free. By giving that ability paid upgrades you are turning it into yet another P2W feature, which will make it harder for free players to compete against buyers.

OverDrive is one of the worst things to happen to tanki.

 

It makes battles that are slightly unbalanced completely unbalanced and impossible to make a comeback in.

 

You know which team is building OD faster?   The team that's already winning.

You know which team will have fewer people leaving?  The team that's winning and using OverDrive.

 

Until we can force gold-hunters and noobs who refuse to activate OD for their team-mates, OverDrive should be junked.

I know we won't get this update , I just suggested for fun , well of course our players ruined it (half) because they using overdrive for golds . 

sometimes you get a team of hunters , those who don't want to use (OD) . 

 

I call it a bonus on one side *

I also wish Overdrive only built up through time.  So spawn-killing and drugging hard won't have any effect. 

 

That would make OD more palatable.

This may potentially be a work in progress, considering that there has been an open testing where overdrives seemingly had upgrades  :ph34r:

Are Devs trying to ruin battle-balance completely?

 

Good to know post # 3 was ignored entirely...  :blink:

Overdrive needs to be removed. making it upgradeable will make it virtually impossible to remove it from the game.

 

And the other problem is that buyers would have another bigger advantage in battles.

Drones are not necessarily future Overdrives. Drones on the test server have three upgrade steps that don't seem to make a huge difference.

Don't seem to make a difference because drones don't work at all. I think they are testing the overall system in a very simplified fashion, I'm pretty sure if they decide to implement drones these would have a lot of MU steps.

Are you, OD is so annoying because teams will just gather together and OD, like the person up there said. You can easily tell who's winning because it's what team has more OD stars going around.

I agree with Maf here. Since the overdrive is a consumable item, it must remain free. I would really hate to spend and waste crystals on overdrives because this feature has been made to help team mates, including yourself, so overdrives must remain free.

 

However, I am waiting for the 7 hulls overdrives to be added soon. That would add cool abilities and visual effects. The 7 hulls overdrives would be exactly the similar thing that you are suggesting for improving the performance of hulls for 30 seconds. Overdrives must always be free, to keep game balance and economy balanced, otherwise it will ruin the economic balance of Tanki Online.

 

If you are going to give an upgrade boost to overdrives, I suggest to keep it both free and make overdrives stronger.

That's the point of overdrive... for your team to use and share it instead "saving it" for gold!

Problem with OD is that it is generated by actions as well as time.

 

A team with any kind of advantage (numbers, more avid supply-users, higher ranks) will generate OD faster.

So the team that already has an advantage will gain more advantage - and put the battle out of reach quickly.

 

Some players think that OD is a way for team that is losing to "catch up".  They could not be more wrong.

 

OverDrive needs to be tweaked so that the only way to generate it is time.  After use it takes the exact same amount of time for all players to re-generate, regardless of how they are doing.

When you buy Hornet

System will ask:

1) Do you want to increase overdrive time?

or

2) Do you want overdrive effect after death?

If I select option 1 then I can upgrade overdrive time to X seconds more & If I select option 2 then I will get the buff in which after my death my teammates will stay in overdrive effect for few more seconds and option 2 can be upgraded too. (after upgrade it add X more seconds in the buff)

 

Same with Wasp like you can increase it range by X% more and 2nd option can be something else.

Same with hunter like you can increase overdrive effect time on enemies.

etc with other overdrives. The main thing I mean is Overdrive upgrade-able timer or effect.

 

Or new box or something for overdrive which means you can collect 200% so you can use overdrive 2 times at one time. e.g. With 200% Overdrive  Wasp can place 2 bombs on 2 different locations y press shift in 2 other places.

The 100% more buff for your overdrive can be time count buff like PRO Pass (If I buy it then it will be with me for 1 month then I need to buy again) Cost same crystals or double then PRO Pass and after purchase you can collect 200% energy for your overdrive and use it at 2 different times or both at one time. 

 

And how about something that makes your mine into Supermine (Less damage but more force). With supermine you can upside down your enemies. It will not be useful if you are a serial killer but it is useful if you like to troll players. Imagine flipping enemies with mines just for good X seconds laugh and enemies will be like '' who places them here.''

Wasp or Hornet will be better for supermine effect in their overdrive. Even if you get destroyed the supermine will not vanish because It is Super then the other mines.

0/10 or 0/20 upgrades will be fine for overdrive or 0/50 upgrades but cheap,

Heck no!   We already have enough OverDrives in battles.

 

You want OD for all players to be there the whole 7 minutes?  :wacko:

 

Why does every battle have have to be just about OverDrive?  There would be no skill at all.

Overdrive is a love/hate relationship. If you have it, you love it. If the enemy has it, you hate it. Those who say they hate the ODs use it just as often as everyone else. If you truly hated it, then you wouldn't use it and you wouldn't take advantage of Titan's OD when your health is low and you would get entirely upset when Mammoth activated all supplies when yours is in cooldown. No, you don't hate it, you hate it when the enemy uses it.

 

My only problem with OD is the fact that it activates quicker with kills and damage, that puts the losing team at a greater disadvantage. There are many reasons for leaving a losing battle, this is just another one, thanks to the Devs. Hummm...on second thought, maybe it's a roundabout way of getting more revenue. For those times when your team is being spawn killed. Buy a Trooper drone and leave it in the garage. When you are being spawn killed, go into the garage and bolt it on.

I'd prefer the game if ODs were never invented.  But I'd be stupid (and a mult) if I did not use them during a battle when available.   

 

Just like supplies. 

A player can dislike them and still make use of them.  Because the alternative is to become a handicap to your team.

 

OD - when active - affects the battles too much.  And as you say, they've double-downed on that by making them active too often.
