I'm confused about Booster/Defender/Trickster.

Recharge time is 10s for all three, but they won't activate on pickups. Why is this a thing?

Also for Booster and Defender, what is the point of the 10s recharge? I can fully MU the drones then press 2 or 3 to get +300% damage/resistance for 5 seconds, only to wait for supply duration AND smart cooldown before getting the drone effects again exclusively through 2/3?

You can't even activate Booster/Defender/Trickster with current overdrives!!

I really imagined Boost/Def would cycle between normal and boosted supplies every 10s, but as it stands, I can either wait 1 whole minute or respawn an absurd amount of times to get the boost. Might as well use Trooper. Or y'know, be a kamikaze Wasp/Magnum just to milk both drones.

If these drones can't cycle between boosted and normal supplies because too OP, at least make them activate on pickups!

Trickster clearly states that it triggers when you activate it, not when it is picked up.

Trickster clearly states that it triggers when you activate it, not when it is picked up.

Supplier states in the wiki that it triggers when supplies are "activated". In the garage it states that Supplier triggers when supplies are "used." Either way, Supplier triggers when pressing 2/3/4 or picking up boxes.

Booster uses similar wording ("using" vs "activating") to Supplier but somehow does not trigger on pickups.

The descriptions are too vague, is what I'm getting at. How am I supposed to know if Trickster/Booster/Defender is working as intended? The recharge time of 10s seems to imply that the drone *should* activate on pickups as well.

@Longcat970  I wholeheartedly agree that TO is doing a poor job being 100% clear on how each drone works.

But anyways, after seeing your response, I darted to the Test Server (which was open) to test out Defender.  Not that I had a choice since the test accounts start out w/ 100k crystals (and Defender is 90k crystals).

Moving on, after some testing, I will say that whether you pick up a Double Armor supply OR activate one of your own Double Armors, the Defender Drone will apply the DA buff either way, provided the drone isn't recharging of course.  This leads me to conclude that the in-game descriptions are more accurate than the EN Wiki at the moment.  Which makes some sense given how the EN Wiki tends to lag behind on in-game information at times.

Huh, I tested booster as well on the real server to confirm this and sure enough it triggered on pickups. Woops. I swear I remember a time when I tried it not too long after its release in Test Servers and it didn't budge on pickups.

I took a look at the garage drones' descriptions again. All drones that have "After using" will activate from either supplies or pickups. This includes Mechanic, Supplier, Booster.

Where it gets confusing is between Defender and Trickster. Both drones have "After activating", but Defender still triggers after a pickup. Shouldn't Trickster follow and do the same for speed boxes? Or is Defender misworded?

I also don't understand the use of Trickster/Booster/Defender's 10s cooldowns. For the latter two, I think I get its use if you are supposed to roam around the map looking for DD/DA boxes to maximize usage; for Trickster, it's useless if you can't trigger it by pickup. What gives?

***Side note: You should also be allowed to "activate" DD/DA/SB while they are already active to trigger the drone effects, much like how you can use RK on full health with Mechanic to do a group heal

I'm guessing that the devs misworded the description for the Defender drone, which further supports my earlier point on TO's lacking clarity on drones.

As for why the 10 second cooldowns exist, I think they are there to ensure that players must wait at least a full 10 seconds before getting another drone buff. Why 10 seconds instead of 30 I dunno. Then again, smart cooldowns and standard supply duration times already check the potential of Trickster/Booster/Defender from being abused. In addition, you are more likely to get the most out of Booster/Defender by activating one of your own Double Damage/Armor supplies at the right time as opposed to just picking up DA/DD from somewhere in the battlefield.

Personally, I would have made Trickster/Booster/Defender cooldowns last 30 seconds just to make things simpler to comprehend (as well as adding one more anti-OP check for extra measure).

Which one would you recommend for an attacking hornet+railgun on CTF- Blaster or Saboteur?

You should camp with Railgun. It is a long range weapon. If you want to attack, use Fire or Freeze.

I use rail-hornet and I'm perfectly fine attacking. That's literally the only role I play.

So I finally bought a drone since they were on sale - Trooper.

Get a 100-kill "daily mission" (lol) so what the heck I'll equip Titan Ricco and make use of Trooper spawn boosts.

1st 3 DM maps I get are the largest ones in MM - nullifying my turret/Hull and drone.   BLECHHH.

When you die, your drugs are available right away, so 10s cooldown does make sense. Otherwise the benefit of this drone would be too minimal and no one would actually buy it.

Even now, I do have 20/20 booster and after messing around with it for some time, I feel that there are much better options. The actual ''boost'' is too short to make any difference. I do think all of these drones need buff to be useful. 5 seconds is surely not enough. 8s would be already much better.

Dayumn, Sprinter is pretty damn strong in the right situation.

My supplies were on cooldown and I was in the enemy base when their flag got returned - I was pretty low HP with no supplies active. As soon as I picked up the flag - bang!

Insta-full supplies and repair. Probably will M4 this thing, seems very very nice for attackers like me.

We need a Drone ON/OFF switch.

I entered a battle where two enemies were doing some spawn killing, they even killed me twice in my first minute in this battle, so I went to my garage to change some equipment and activate my Drone. Well, my Trooper Drone was only useful for that spawn because I didn't got killed for the rest of the battle, so that was like 5 batteries wasted.

Again, MM is broken in multiple ways. Alterations are broken. Drones are broken. Oddly, both seem to be mostly ignored, even though playing gives one the impression everyone has them, especially drones.

MM is broken. It needs to be fixed, but it cannot be fixed. Therefore, Devs, abandon MM, even if you want to keep pretending it is crucially important.

It not alternations that pisses me off, even with Duplet with blasts me in no time. It's the drones that pisses off me the most.

They really should present a "no drug" quick battle mode in MM.

Legend10's and above should be put against other legend10's and above.

No drug MM will be so good. Supply box, drug will be gone. Especially drones that gives free drugs when re/spawn.

Dad got a drone with the sale and hasn't really used it yet. Ricosck has had one for a while (and a new one with the sale), but I use it sparingly so as to not run out of batteries. I try to use it when I figure it is worth it for me or for the team.

You seem to always use a drone, but I'm guessing.

Short range has its place, but I hate sniping. Camping is not something I can stand.

I play to fight, and it is much more fun when my team wins. I find little satisfaction in DM.

It's a good thing that I don't use drones.

Recently I stayed away from Team Fight and now hang out @ MM Deathmatch recently. Same story with my low account.

Even my Shaft rarely camps.

The order of these buttons, at least for me, is counter intuitive...

Let's see if others agree. Personally I'd prefer: Hulls, Turrets, Protections, Drones and the rest. But it's the Drones button on the third spot that pushed me to post this, it really should go fourth. My opinion.

Drones have a close relation with supplies, they should be 5th. Modules 3rd and paints 4th.

I think so. The kills do count to you

Presently , I have 18 500 crystals and I'm planning on buying trooper. Is that a good choice?

If you have a stock-pile of batteries it is a cheap upgrade for DMs.  You'll need to put some MUs on it though as 10-second default duration does not seem like a long time at all.

Blaster Drone does affect your K/D right?

Yup, both kills and deaths/self-destructs caused by your Blaster drone count toward your personal K/D.

Now, I don't want anyone telling me to camp with railgun, I'm doing quite well attacking. Can any one tell me which would you recommend for attacking on CTF with Railgun on Hornet/Wasp? Blaster, Sprinter or Saboteur? If you think there's an other drone apart from these three , do let me know as well.
