Paint Market

Recommended Posts

With the addition of containers, you probably have like 20 paints that are left unused and you only use this one special paint that you really really like. Maybe we could sell it for the same amount of crystals, but, this is probably very very bad for the economy.

My idea: A Paint Market between all the players.

The developers clearly spent little time thinking about how much paints should cost in the garage. You have cherry and electra which both cost less than 100 000 crystals while a paint like blacksmith (no offense to anyone who likes this paint, I think it looks like a napkin) costs 150 000 crystals... also with the separation of paints/modules, paints hold very little value and you don't even need one.

Everyone has their own preferences to how aesthetically pleasing a paint looks on the tank and I think it would be fair for players to have the ability to sell paints to other players.

How it works:

1. Players already own dozens of paints and can continue pulling more paints from containers.

2. Players who do not want to use certain paints can choose to keep or sell their paints for a certain amount of crystals that they can set.

3. Where the paints section would normally be in the garage, they can register their paint for sale and they would have to sell it for a certain price.

4. Other players who want to collect that certain paint would be able to buy it for the amount the owner wants to sell it for.

Obviously, there must be limitations in the system, so that higher ranked players can't transfer stuff to lower ranked players or players shouldn't be able to sell stuff for a really cheap price:

The Rules:

1. You are only able to purchase something from another player if and only if your rank is within 6 ranks from the other player.

2. You can only sell common paints (anything you can buy in the garage that doesn't require premium). No special container, award, or shop paints are able to be sold. If it is a certain event paint (such as "Deadpool" or "Eternity") that is only available for purchase for a certain amount of time, you can't sell it once the event period is over. Event paints will be able to be purchased outside of the market for the duration of the event (so no one will have to sell it to you for it to be able to be purchased). You are not allowed to sell your Green paint or Holiday paint.

3. Developers will be able to  set a minimal crystal sell value for each paint, which basically is the smallest amount of crystals you are allowed to sell the paint for. There is no maximum limit for the sell value. Examples for this are:

Forrester minimal value could be 10k crystals, Tundra minimal value could be 50k crystals, Zeus minimal value could be 125k crystals.

4. The paint prices in the market will not be affected if there are discount sales event in the shop.

5. If you successfully sell something, as the seller, you can only receive 30% of the amount of crystals you sold it for, and the remaining 70% of the crystals sort of just disappears. Think of it as a tax or something. So for example, if someone bought my paint for 100k crystals, I would only get 30k crystals, so the economy is not going to be drastically changed. This amount could be changed by the developers.

Declined

We do not accept ideas for selling items. Devs already said many times - ability to sell items would either be bad for the economy, or it would be so heavily taxed that there wouldn't even be any point in selling items.

I mean... what is the point of keeping these useless paints in our garage? It would be more beneficial to sell for at least some money and have someone else buy for the full price in which he/she thinks is reasonable. I believe I made enough restrictions so that it would not hurt the economy and instead be beneficial for both the consumer and the seller.

Black paint for sale, worn the the original blackWasp777 for almost the quarter of a decade. Hosts the most deadly railgun holes by original railgunners from all over the world!

East-European quality build, 100% UV resistant, made to last, and never wears out in sunlight !

Only 1 Mio crystals, only today!

Oh well, just kidding :)

back on topic:

To get rid of useless stuff in your garage is a good idea, but it comes with two critical downsides:

- if you can sell it you gain crystals. But crystals (seem to) be only accessible by playing the game - or by money. I know that a Legend10 has not much need for 50k.. but if such a system is introduced also the lower ranked players would like to participate.

This would undermine one of the core motivations that keeps players playing (gain crystals in order to get better gear).

- simply delete it and get nothing for it would be an option.. but they usually say "If someone hacks your account and deletes your stuff you are lost". Maybe you can imagine how many players secretly share their passwords.. and how many of those come later on towards the helpdesk asking for their crystals back (a hacker has purchased drugs on my account!!). It will get only worse.

kind of a stuck situation.. unfortunately.

Maybe just impose a higher tax. I believe that a system where the consumer pays full price for the paint while the seller gets a miniscule fraction of how much he/she has sold it for would really help the game.

As for lower ranked players, yes, I am aware that many of them own better paints than I do. However, those lower ranked players carrying spark or inferno is only able to sell to other lower rankers (my rule that you can only sell to people within 5 ranks of your rank), and the minimal value for selling a valuable paint like inferno is probably going to be around 150k crystals. How is any sergeant or warrant officer going to find someone their rank who can pay for that? Only an extreme buyer would (which in the devs' eyes, is helpful, because it promotes players buying their way to Legend). And, if they do end up successfully selling, they could be taxed so heavily that they would get only 20k at most... which is not a lot considering how any sergeant can pull 25k crystals from a single container from a chain.

Plus, a low ranked player would have to be extremely extremely lucky to get one of these cool paints. It's unlikely that a low ranked player would sell a paint like inferno to get a return of a measly 10k crystals. They would, in fact, need many cool paints in order to want to sell, so I think lower ranked players wouldn't even want to sell their cool paints for a low return value.

Our Sensei_Tanker bro took like 10 days for thinking about the idea, remodeling it to its perfect form, Coming out with rules and regulations, and writing such a long Topic.

And here is our Maf, "We do not accept ideas about selling items"

Obviously it would be beneficial for players to get more free crystals. Developers know that you don't want most of those paints and won't ever use them, but it's something they can give away for free without worrying about players gaining too much from it.

there is nothing strange about that.

You can also spend months about thinking how to do something that is against the law, and when you go to the police and tell them about your great plans, they simply tell you "it's against the rules".

I am actually pretty glad, that they don't say something like "ohh, it was such an effort... you know what? We let you rob the bank once :) "

I'm sure sensei is clever enough that he knows that I don't compare his idea with something evil, but simply with something that is against (useful) rules :)

So... in conclusion... your argument is that the developers are a group of cheapskates *i think we have all confirmed this way back*... I think we are emphasizing this argument too much on the seller's side of the spectrum, because in reality, a seller could only get around 15k crystals max for selling all of his/her paints from his/her entire life. Not that big of an effect to be honest. I think the greatest impact is on the buyer's side to be fairly honest. Assuming this market is capitalist (who knows? TO is based in mother russia), paint prices will be determined by what the consumers want. Clearly, paints like Zeus are too expensive (500k crystals) and is pretty useless when you could buy a similar looking paint (Electra for example) for 10% of the cost.

No offense, but the developers did a pretty stinky job at setting the garage paint prices. With this update, the paint prices will always be how much it should be because it will be exactly where a player is willing to sell for it and the consumer is actually able to buy and afford.

Well maybe this Ideas & Suggestions section would actually go somewhere if we didn't have all these restrictions on ideas because straight-up saying that you can't make an idea that belongs within an entire topic/category of ideas, I don't think is fair. I believe all non-duplicate ideas should be treated with same consideration because arguing that an idea like this is not allowed is, I think, not sufficient evidence to say that I have a bad idea.

And, I'm not sure if I'm clever enough to know that you don't compare my idea with something like robbing a bank.... I lost all my brain cells playing this game. :P

I'm sorry if this topic might offend some moderators, i kind of feel like it sounds like I'm biting back at the moderators, but I'm really not. I just want to be heard. Please read my paragraphs above with a positive tone, not with an annoyed or complaining type of tone.

Talking for me I am not offended at all.

When I started to play this game it took me some time to find the forum and the ideas section, but one of my first ideas was to sell items. It seemed soo logical.. so natural. I don't mind anyone who comes up with such an idea.. especially not if it includes player-to-player transfer and already incorporates a fee (which reflects understanding of the game economy.. which I clearly lacked when I posted my idea in 2014)

It makes sense.. but in the end, it's only for the players.

Which should be good enough? True!

Unfortunately it harms the income of the game.. which is.. bad for everyone (less income > more need for pay-to-win items).

The rule about "not selling stuff" is not to here to limit the ideas in the section.. it's here to simplify the moderators work. Ideas about selling stuff come online soo often.. most ones not as elaborated as yours.. but still they need an answer. And they want to discuss. And that's all fine.. but as our time is limited too, it's an easy shortcut to point at a rule.
It's not perfect from the motivational point of view.. maybe we should gather explainations for the most common declined ideas / rules and collect them somewhere.

But in the end it boils down to a simply fact: developers have decided to make the selling of items not possible for the while being. As selling stuff is common in other (types of) games, players will continue to ask for it.. but it won't happen.

If it will, then because the developers can - from some reason - afford it; >>and>> that the owners (business man, by my assumption no gamers by themselves) will approve to loose income.

Sorry.

I know it may not look like it, but I actually hate declining ideas where OP put a lot of effort into describing every detail and genuinely wants the idea to be implemented. But as Wasp said above, rules are rules, so why approve an idea that has no chance of being implemented?

You can also spend months about thinking how to do something that is against the law, and when you go to the police and tell them about your great plans, they simply tell you "it's against the rules".

A much better real life example is graffiti. Someone could create the most beautiful work of art on a wall in the street, better than most things in art galleries, but if it was done without a permit, then the act is considered vandalism, so the painting will be removed and the artist may face a fine if discovered. It's good art, but it's against the law. And this actually happens quite regularly.

Well maybe this Ideas & Suggestions section would actually go somewhere if we didn't have all these restrictions on ideas because straight-up saying that you can't make an idea that belongs within an entire topic/category of ideas, I don't think is fair. Like the example above, a similar approach applies to ideas - you could come up with the most amazing and interesting feature and spend hours developing is, but we can't accept it if it's against the rules. All I&S rules have reasons behind them, so if a certain type of idea (e.g. selling items) is not allowed, it usually means that the idea is bad in some way (usually it's due to negative impact on the economy)

what do you mean no point, i just want to get rid of some stuff so i don't have to scroll through them when I'm in a hurry to change equipment. there, this is the point.

the tax can be 100% for all i care just remove the crap from my garage.

Allowing you to get rid of stuff to remove the need for scrolling is a bad way to solve the issue. Instead the garage organisation needs to be improved, which developers are actually planning to do.

Just poor game design. People will be frustrated when they get rid of a paint and get it again in the next container, or they get rid of a paint and end up needing it later for whatever reason (like an event). Much better to develop a way to sort paints in order so that the scrolling issue won't be there in the first place.

Well, if you get it again, you can sell it again... I don't see what's the problem with that. The odds for getting a regular paint will always be the same and so does the odds for an epic or legendary paint. The only odd that changes are the odds for getting specific regular paints, which goes down, but has little to no effect on the player since he/she will almost always use that cool animated paint they have.

For your second point, what is the whole point for needing a paint you already got rid of? Why would you even need a regular paint for a future event? Please clarify this point, because I can't seem to think of a scenario in which this may happen.

And, yeah, I agree with sorting paints based on usage in the garage, but I'm not sure if the devs will add this.

E.g. you sell the "Lava" paint and next month developers add a contest where you have to do something while wearing the lava paint.
