Honor system from players giving positive karma

 Share

Recommended Posts

My most meaningful, memorable moments in battles come from positive interactions I have had with other players.

For instance helping teammates in the chat, a courageous action, staying cool under pressure or a great duel.

Wouldn't it be nice to have an encouragement in this kind of behavior? To have an honor system to give something lasting back to those players who went out of their way to make your game experience better?

I am not talking about tanker of the year (this is such a kind of system), but more of a system that will work on a smaller scale and is reachable for a lot of us.

Lets say you have four categories to  honor only one  tanker  after a match has ended:

-friendly tanker

-helpful tanker

-honorable opponent

-great teamwork

I believe positive incentives are more powerful then bans or other kinds of punishments.

 Especially if you can get exclusive honorary containers for reaching a high level of honor..

How does anyone else think of this?

Tanki should add an Honor System. Yeah, you could classify this as "rewards" but I think this is more complex than just adding rewards. It also promotes a better environment because it gives people motivation to play better, play cleaner, and play friendlier. Rewards for having high honor points could be a cosmetic (for example a recognizable paint) or crystals upon hitting certain honor levels. Tangible rewards (not cosmetics) would be more effective because they mean more in terms of game value; everyone values crystals, not everyone values paints. Honor medals or pins would definitely be cool, as people love recognition.

If "bad reports" were added to the standard honor system, the honor system could also provide a way for battle moderators to keep tabs on people who are consistently given bad reports (note: bad reports CANNOT actually do anything, but those with a lower karma score would be reviewed/monitored by battle moderators).

For more info on how the Honor System would work, check out the League of Legends wiki: https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Honor.

LoL matches are approximately 40 minutes long, we get to know how good a player is during the entire game.

Tanki MM battles are 6 minutes long and sometimes players get sent into the battle much later on, so honoring a player on the basis of 6 minutes wouldn't be much accurate, and honoring after every battle would be so boring.

Also, in LoL it is very rare to get the same players in a match. While in TO, there are great chances of same players showing up in battles which you play back to back

Yeah, the same honor valuing like in World of tanks blitz, every 40% win rate having ****** has "impeccable player", because fags playing in platoons and prise each other with honor points such as (effective player, lucky player, team player etc), but most important thing is, that usually these players goes back to garage with 0 damage dealt.

Positive incentives can be good sure.

But those playing with "friends" will probably benefit from this far more from those who do not.

If there's no tangible reward that benefits some-one in-battle then I suppose it won't matter so much.

Can they also have a faster queue when in MM battles and the people with less upvote (or negative) wait longer?  Also have better teams.

I hope not.   Friends would help each other becuase... friends.

Are these rewards that would be given out after each battle? After a week's time? A month?

Who would be responsible for the deciding factor? Tanki? Other players? Battle Mods?

WoT has something similar. After reaching a milestone a badge or war metal is added to your profile. After each battle, on the leaderboard, it shows who got the most kill points, the most flags capped, the most take over points (like CP). etc. and is awarded some in-game currency. Not much, but it's there for all to see.

I know I always felt good when a star was by my name on the leaderboard.

Rewards are given when you reach a certain amount of honor points. Imagine experience/ranks but with honor points

I disagree. There have been plenty of times in MM when I see my teammate (or even an enemy) make a really great play, or just generally do something nice and, well, honourable. I would gladly reward them somehow, and sending them a gift isn't really an option, especially considering that I'd have to add them as a friend for that. An honour system would be perfect for that kind of situation.

Yeah, this is a nice idea. Only thing is have it so you can only upvote the person once, so friends won't spam it on each other and get rewards for doing nothing.

Idea: the ability to give players "medals" with different meanings after matches.

The medals are given during the score list. They may or may not have any actual value besides being collected by players, but it could be fun if collecting enough of them could eventually be rewarded with something of value (like crystals), or maybe making the medal into a special paint you can use - a way of showcasing you've earned the respect of other players.

Giving medals could also be a fun way to spread positivity, but perhaps givers of medals are also rewarded so they do so.

Different medals have different meanings, so you can thank a teammate for something specific about how they played, like a medal for being an "amazing healer" to an Isida or Paladin, "awesome team supporter" to a sniper, "flag-tank of the team" for a player who did the heaviest lifting in the match, "best looker of us all" to the tank that looks the best, or "don't give up!" to someone who was less skilled...

Maybe enemies could also be given medals, like "my scariest enemy" or "a most enjoyable opponent".

This would complement nicely the gift system that is planned to be reintroduced. Let's see if developers will keep this suggestion in mind.
