Noise (AKA Magnum) After Magnum Nerf

Magnum users find themselves in a dilemma; either shoot with an increasing luck factor on far away targets that are out of sight, releying on the reworked (bad) splash damage, or face a bigger reload at the lob-shell-over-wall shots. Nerfing the turret was obviously neccesary and came 3 years too late lol but the new Magnum reminds me of the new Shaft: static, impractical, clumsy and stupid... Smoky, Egobarrel, Thunder and Striker are much more flexible thus the better longe range turrets in this arcade game full of short range fights anyway.

I can still pull of good scores with Magnum but the whole concept of artillery in this game didn't work and will never work no matter what tweak you throw at Magnum. It's now a true artillery weapon but just like being a sniper, it became a misfit between the close brawling mosh pit experience full of Freeze, Twins, Firebird, Isida and now probably Ricochet aswell.

Magnum is finally balanced... Just buff Rail and Shaft, nerf modules and drones and this game would be perfect.

I agree except for the Shaft part. A camping weapon should be weak at best.

Thunder and Smoky are now as good in camping as Shaft and Rail but they are MUCH better at close and medium range. That means that Rail and Shaft need buff so they could snipe Thunders and Smokies without getting killed by them repeatedly.

Believe me or not, I was in battle with my M2 1/10 Titan and M1 3/10 Smoky. I ended up with about 20 kills and only 6 or 7 deaths. Now say that Thunder and Smoky are not OP...

What map was it?

Smoky and Thunder are considerbly powerful, thunder is way above OP. But that doesn't need Shaft needs a buff, it's more like it's competition needs a nerf.

Tbh, I started using Shaft, and I think the only reason why it may seem underpowered is that there are only 2 or 3 MMS maps that you can actually camp in.

Getting back on topic.

Yesterday, I was playing 2 Noise maps on my alt. Both maps I played on Blue. First map Red had one Mag. We managed to survive with one Asida.

On the second one, Red started out with 2 Mags and later another one came. We had 3 Isidas (I was one of them) and were kept quite busy with the constant bombardment. Two had our base covered, the third covered the covered ramp. Many times we tried getting up the ramps enmasse, but never made it to the upper level.

On the second Noise, the Mode was CTF 7 flags. We made one flag at the beginning and grabbed it several times after that, but weren't able to make the leap. That's when the third Mag showed up. That was the last flag we made, but we made them work for their win.

So I just came out of a Noise battle. I was an M3 Isida Titan in blue. My team...they were...I don't want to say utter garbage but we were outnumbered and massively under-equipped (lower tier turrets/hulls and low % protections compared to red) and get this; Red had 5 magnums. FIVE!. All of them at least M2. It was torture having to constantly drain my bar to heal my allied titan. My team had 3 wasps and were basically getting 1-shotted. I wanted to leave early but I was getting a good bit of XP there.

I had 893 score when I left. This is how it looked immediately as I left.

I would have stayed longer but I left because I wanted to rank elsewhere. Came out with 5 XP remaining. Ranking there would have felt like I disrespected myself.

Overall, with the changes to magnum, It is not positively affecting the blue team any bit in Noise. All you have is probably a 2 second increase in reload time but that is still enough to keep the Blue team from entering the middle, ultimately trapping them in their own base to collect XP after XP.

I had a Dimmer on when I took the screenshots and this is my first time trying to upload a photo so I hope it works.
