Give Shaft a damage direction indicator in sniper mode

Recommended Posts

Idea by @TheEdmundFitzgerald who isn't a high enough rank to post a topic

The idea, I think it a brilliant idea, this is how it works.

When in sniper mode, say some enemy hits you to the left (or right) across the map, you will experience the impact force, and a red flash around the left (or right) of your targeting scope will appear

.Of course, telling you that an enemy hit you to your left, now, it won't tell you exactly where the enemy is, or where there are going, just an idea of there direction upon hitting you, with the recent (unneeded) nerf to shafts, this should be a nice new feature to help out shafts.

Basically:

getting hit to the left=flash to the left, a hit to the right, a flash to the right, if they are right in front of you (or behind), it's a full circle flash, it will also register if they hit you from behind.

This suggestion came out several months ago and was compared to WoT. Many Shaft players liked the idea. It was put "under review" but nothing happened with it.

I really don't see how this is gonna help a shaft.

If I get turned in a certain direction, I'll know the general direction of where that enemy is.

Most of the hulls have the turrets positioned closer to the back.

Only Wasp and Dictator have turret in the back. Mammoth has it in front. The turret on Hornet, Viking, Hunter or Titan is perfectly centered (or not?)

How do you get 360 degree viewing when in scope mode? Not all enemy tanks are across the map. A Wasp and Hornet, sometimes Viking, can sneak under your beam and attack from any side. When in scope mode and you're trying to get a sniper hiding behind a wall to show himself, are you really concentrating on your health bar when the enemy Isida is attacking from behind?

Oh, wait. I forgot about the Shaft alteration that allows you to see 360 degrees around your tank when in scope mode. How much did that alteration cost you?

What are you talking about? There is no such thing as that kind of alteration.

Why don't you use shaft in its scope mode for a while and see for yourself?

True shaft users will know what I'm talking about.

I was being facetious. I know there's no such alteration. I have an account that uses Shaft, so I know what I'm talking about. And I have been attacked from behind, but didn't realize it until it was nearly too late. I have also successfully sneaked up on Shaft users with Firebird, Isida and even with my Vulcan/Titan. Because I am a Shaft user, I can estimate how much can be seen through the scope. I set my Vulcan off to one side at a distance and have made Swiss Cheese out of many Shafts.

No, I think the scope should continue to be full tunnel vision. That's a nerf on top of all the other good things about Shaft.

Basically I think that it's fair that Shaft can get caught blind and confused when it's in sniping mode.

Thunder and Smoky are now much better than Shaft. Try using one of these. You can snipe with them effectively while you can also see the sneaking enemies.

Shaft is now MUCH weaker than Thunder and Smoky. It needs a buff for sure.

Wow I didn't know Thunder and Smoky were that OP

I mean it really says something when they're that much more OP than an OP weapon doesn't it

Shaft, Rail and Striker are UP. Why?

Shaft: laser, arcade shots were nerfed to death, loses all energy after every sniper shot (no more quick-sniping), slow turret rotation, bad auto-aim, low DPS

Striker: laser, slow rockets, useless salvos, shot effect revealing your position

Rail: shot delay, slow turret rotation, bad auto-aim, low DPS, shot effect revealing your position, totally random damage output - needs Shell Stabilisation alt (great impact force and penetration are not enough to make it balanced)

Thunder and Smoky: no shot delay, no laser, no visible shot trajectory - you see only the explosion on the target, good auto-aim, good turret rotation, good DPS, good impact force

(50% weak damage is not a problem due to good DPS)

Thunder and Smoky have basically no weakness. Thunder splash can be removed via M1 alt (probably not worth it).

Sunk like Titanic xD

Wow, two whole people who read this that actually got it.  I'm saddened and worried about the future.  I need to find an island and and start an Atlas Shrugged type campaign and start taking people with me.
