another thing is why are the battles only like 4 to 5 minutes long what happened to 15 to 30 to 60 minute battle now i'm even more surprised

Well, i think in one of the v-blog said it was reduced to help players earn stars faster for challenges

You must have taken a long break :D

 

In the good old days we used to have 15 minute battles with the option to stay in the same battle once it had finished (a lot of people stayed and we re-ran the same battles a few times).

 

Now I guess players have short attention spans or like Heles said it is to gain stars. Either way the gameplay has suffered.

They keep making changes to attract Mobile users - since... they are "the wave of the future"?  Or some crap like that...

While I agree with the devs that MM would be a good feature to have. The way they made it is just total utter crap.

 

If I were to make MM, I would have done the following:

 

1. Remove challenges or make a separate MM button where challenges can only be done.

 

2. Increase battle time to 10 minutes at least.

 

3. Bring back the option to stay in the battle that just ended.

 

4. Bring back the early battle termination system if teams are unbalanced 5 to 3 at least.

 

5. Narrow rank brackets.

 

6. Remove groups.

 

 

This would have been a start.

The order of battles on list should go by map name - not how much time is left.

And the name of map should be displayed in the english-version of the system name.

 

It is very difficult to find a map we want to play on - which is a big part of why we go to Pro-Battles in first place.

I would bring back the timer for unbalanced teams

bring back option to enable searching all modes at once instead of one 

and arrange battles by map name alphabetically

The order of battles on list should go by map name - not how much time is left.

And the name of map should be displayed in the english-version of the system name.

 

It is very difficult to find a map we want to play on - which is a big part of why we go to Pro-Battles in first place.

Also introduce format tags to let us know what format the battle is.

Matchmaking is a complete waste of time. the majority does not like it and wish it was gone. The only reason it is here is to make money, it is so one sided. Why put a player in a battle that he cannot win? No chance of winning, Don't even bother with an excuse because there is none. Just left a battle 40 to 2 before I said this is a joke and left. Ranks 5 and 6 higher. They can say what they want. You would have to be a complete rock not to see what they are doing here, And it is no better when their answer to this is to put you in a one sided battle that you are completely wiping out the other side. That is not matchmaking. Vote on it see what the players want. That won't happen because matchmaking would lose by a landslide.

My favorite topic MM  bashing ... since it ruined Tanki .

Not 1 reason why we should have it , there was a Battle button before , which acted the same like MM does .

It totally ruined gameplay , rematch , getting some choice of maps , ... .... ....

plenty of reasons not to like it , but hey , they do not listen , they want to close this game down . So up to them ,

 

 

Shortening of the battles , 2 reasons less people around and mobile users . Both are understandable especially for mobile users . Less people , well thats what you get when you put systems like MM in .

What they have failure to deliver, except manure. 

 

Match Making has failed to deliver...

 

    Quick Battle selection waiting times are as long or longer than they've ever been

    Entry to fair battle.  7 out of 10 battles are outrageously stacked or over when you get there

    Churn as you get in and out of the complete crappola battles it feeds you into.

    It still feeds you into the same battle time after time... there's another half an hour each wait

   

If it was a horse you'd take it out the back and shoot it now!

Probably putting the actual map (right hand side) name in alphabet. 

Thats probably a start

 

Dunno if this is useful. Add another filter or search option for xp/ bp or parkour.

This is one of the things I hate to see when I see mismatches. Look at the number of players on my team who didn't have access to M3 equipment compared to the other team. Alterations are the way to play these days. You can't just let some high-rank player slip in and decimate everyone with their OP alterations.

I just completed two rounds with Riconot in 1st or second place, just like this one, but only one player could manage to get stars-reward. Second place was not enough. Drowning_Puppies was obviously sniping with the Magnum and being a total bore, and probably the least active player on our team. Yet, you deprive the rest of us star-rewards! Why!?!? You defraud us. You despise us.

 

Note that this match happened so fast I couldn't build up even one Overdrive.

Maybe, but I didn't see them being inactive. Well, the Wasp-Isida did hide behind a building for the last minute, but we were behind by fifty already, but I saw everyone else trying. The other team seemed to be coordinated. They all climbed to the high ground and concentrated fire (and it seems they were all Thunder or Rico). It was absurdly hopeless. It was an inverse spawn-kill from the beginning.

 

There can never be teams in MM, right? Yeah, sure. Everyone of the other team purposefully climbed to the bridge and concentrated fire. The kills I got were just the one of them that would venture away from the pack, and the one or two of them I managed to catch before they could get back on the bridge.

 

My point is the match was absurdly unbalanced. The rank spread was small. Perhaps the three pointless-majors were deliberate mults. Perhaps the players of the other team have figured out how to coordinate both sides. Perhaps Tanki's much vaunted fix for the Battle Groups has already been thwarted. Perhaps the three scoreless-majors were playing only effectively enough to convince me they were trying. 

 

Regardless, I don't think it mattered. The other team was simply overwhelming. Matchmaker doesn't work, and it is hopeless. It cannot be fixed. There are too many parameters to try to control for, most of which are subjective and impossible to write algorithms for. Tanki must provide full rewards for all nonprivate battles, MM or Pro. All missions, all challenges, all war-type events. Let everyone choose, and at least we can pick our poison rather than be stuffed into a hopeless battle seconds before it ends. (And then wait two minutes for the next match to start.)

 

My primary frustration is spending my full effort in a hopeless battle and being deprived of my earned reward because Tanki is too petty.

 

Of course, I could have left, but then I am intentionally contributing to the problem. That just isn't something I can stand.

Of course the match was unbalanced - the 3 highest-ranked players on your team contributed more to the winning team than to your team.  They combined for an 0-30 result.

 

What were they doing to provide such putrid results?

 

For the record I agree with you - MM has so many problems and it does not seem like Devs are doing anything to fix it.

They are spending their time rushing important new features into the game.

 

I mean, OverDrive couldn't possibly make things even more unbalanced... could it? 

Look at how current OD has improved the game.  Oh... wait...  :wacko:

It really, really needs work.

 

I still can't understand how 3 tanks go 0-30 in a TDM battle - unless they are direct mults. 

There's no way they are "inactive" through server lag for that long.

If you had active participants in that TDM - result could have been vastly different.  Take 10-15 kills off their side, add 10-15 kills to your side (for these 3 alone) then buff rest of your teams results cuz having 8 vs 8 makes all your team better.

 

I played in a battle last night where the other side had a Clan (could see their tags) and we got stomped.  I really do not believe we had a Group.  They need to make it more transparent and tag groups.  If Clans are tagged - why not groups?
