The Fundamental Issues with Matchmaking:

 

Socialism. Cash.

 

I bet you all think I'm joking to troll the Russians, but this is literally what matchmaking is.

 

In a nutshell, the players that don't work on their tank or play well are rewarded by playing tanks that are lower than them in rank and typically skill. Players that are entirely free-to-play (meeee!) and have to work really hard to get their tank to the equivalent of a buyer are forced to play, well, buyers with purchased kits, overpowered alterations, and a practically infinite number of each supply.

 

And Tanki is slowly moving away from it's free-to-play roots, milking the buyers for money. Seriously, shot colors? The missing four rewards on the April challenge? Tiers 46-49 have no reward for the non-Battle-pass players. Even drones are a stretch, with their absolutely minimal effect on the game it just goes to show that buyers want to have every advantage possible and are willing to cash in for expensive batteries. Alternava needs to realize that the f2p community is the most dedicated of it's players. Yeah, sure, you can make the case that pumping money directly into the company's pocket is loyalty, but looking hours played by the timea non-buyer tanker gets to M2 tier? That's dedication.

 

I just feel as if Tanki is dying. Which sucks, because Tanki X isn't growing in popularity (at least compared to TO) When I started playing in 2013, I would consistently see high numbers in the players online zone on the homepage. I guess AP is being smart, knowing that the game is going to die and pulling out all the stops to get as much cash as possible. 

 

A list of non-freetoplay things now in the game: Premium, Shot colors, Battle pass, easy stars, skins, drones, kit availability before casual players, etc.

As a side note, I kinda lost my train of thought when writing this. I was simply fed up with playing with Generalissimos at my rank, and felt the need to say something. At the time of writing this, I am the three red stars with a line under it. That rank.

I don't follow your logic.

How do you figure this to be the case?  Are you suggesting players are purposely not playing well?

 

Even if so... they will eventually do "better" because of lesser competition, and then move up in MM grading - even if involuntarily.

 

But I highly doubt players are purposely not upgrading tanks or "throwing" battles in order to play lesser competition.

Bring back the ability to choose maps. That system was superior and resulted in fewer lop-sided battles, and the wait times were not awful.  The current system exacerbated whatever problems the old system supposedly had.

There should be a few options for the players before being put into the queue in MM.

 

(1) Small/Large Maps

Some of the players are not good at playing in certain maps.  They would normally quit straightaway if they were being loaded into those maps. 

 

With an option (No Preference/ Small/ Large), players can have higher chance to avoid map(s) they dislike and participate in map(s) they are good at.  It should not be difficult to define and put the maps into the lists (Small/ Large) because the numbers are on wiki.

 

(2) Length of Battle

Many experienced players have reflected that the current 7-minute battle is too hurry and short for team communication and strategic moves. 

 

It would be nice if there is an option (7 minutes/ 15 minutes) for the battle length.  Mobile version players and those who want to finish missions quickly can opt for 7 minutes while others who enjoy to complete the missions/battles in a slower pace can opt for the good old 15-minute game.

The match-making waiting window ought to contain the longest waiting time presently in the queue, instead of or as well as the avg time.  The average wait time is a useless metric.  Quite often end up in a queue for 2-3 times as long.  At least the oldest queue person would give a real idea of possible wait time.

Im not sure what this screen is showing. You played fine. Assault battles are lopsided many times, much like real sieges I assume. Some battles the defenders get the base locked down the attackers have trouble getting in. Or perhaps the attackers get a magnum spotted in the base or a freeze clears the base and the attackers will win quickly.

I love longer battles too, butt...longer battles lead to longer blowouts. Tanki is a game filled with runners and despite removing strategy, 7 minute battles do keep runners to a minimum. They would have to do something big to make up for increased number of rummers if they lengthened the battles. And lastly they dont undo updates unfortunately, so if they were to length battles it wouldnt be to 15 mins

Hi, I'm late to posting this complaint, but can we add more maps to Matchmaking? specifically the kolhoz map.

Or change them all once in a while - maybe every 3-6 months.  I'm pretty sick of doing the same maps over and over.

I'm frustrated with MM on TheCongoSpider. It keeps putting me in Legend battles on teams with other non-legends while the other team is full of Legends or has 1 non-Legend with M4 equipment.

I get battles like those too frequently. The Legends on their team had more powerful equipment than our team. Why is that? Isn't MM supposed to put us on equal teams? Is that not what they said?

We lost 5-0 This is happening too often and it's not enjoyable to play battles on that account anymore. It's such a grind that ultimately results in almost nothing.

I'm heartily sick of being dumped into battles with Gizmos... and waiting what feels like an eternity to be thrown into battles that have 2 mins or less left on the clock, or are chock o' block with pretty flag rank dudes with m3's when I'm still sporting m2's at Brig ranks... you girls behind the wheel in the dev dept really ought to get your collective fingers out.... and fix something that has needed fixing ever since MM was implemented.

 

And the most recent addition to these pestering woes is the "error erection reset by server"  this seems to be getting more and mroe prevalent.

Not asking them to undo it.  Just hope there are limited options provided to casual players like me and my real life friends who only log in to complete the daily missions.

 

Before the introduction of MM, battles used to end earlier when the teams were too uneven.

Forest - my most disliked map. I always leave within seconds if I'm dropped into this map.

 

Highland - almost never dropped into this map no matter how much I shop around.

 

Yorkshire - one of the worst maps for blowouts.

 

Red alert - boring.

 

Serpuhov - boring and terrible in assult mode.

 

Barda - decent especially for rail and shaft.

 

Breast - decent.

 

Magistral - kind of boring.

 

Aleksandrovsk - decent.

 

Esplanade - why is this not in MM?

Red alert - boring.  Is ok - but - for battles like ASL red has advanatge due to short run to cap.

 

Serpuhov - boring and terrible in assult mode.  My favourite Map

 

Barda - decent especially for rail and shaft.  Similar to Red alert, but better

 

Breast - decent.  Breast is too camp-happy.  Shafts galore.

 

Magistral - kind of boring.  Is decent - mix of terrain

 

Aleksandrovsk - decent.  agree

 

Esplanade - why is this not in MM?  Not sure - seems right size.

You forgot Death track - why is it not in MM?

 

As bad as MM in TO is right now, still not as bad as MM in TX. It doesn't even let you choose what game mode you want to play.

TX certainly has issues but - at least it has a lobby where you can customize equipment to the map you will play on.

I'm a bit concerned. 

 

I had these missions on TheCongoSpider on two different days:

 

  • Earn 1,500 Score in Assault battles
  • Earn 800 crystals in Assault battles

 

What did I notice? Well, my combo for going into Assault is Isida + Hunter/Titan. What I noticed is that in the 11 battles it took me to complete those missions, I was placed on the Blue team in all of them. 

 

I decided to play assault casually one day (I didn't have any missions that required me to play in Assault) and I changed my turret to Striker. I played 6 battles and in 5 of them, I was placed on the red team. I did not notice many Isidas on the Red team when I played the 11 battles as I wasn't paying too much attention to that. 

 

This has been happening for a long time. I can safely say that at least 80% of the Assault battles I've played on TheCongoSpider was on the Blue team. Not that I don't want it to stop. I find playing on the Blue team is more fun than playing on the Red team since I'm a Support Nanobots Isida and my team is being attacked from almost all angles. 

 

Does MM for Assault battles sort you primarily based on equipment or is this a coincidence?

I can tell you that MM is totally random.  I am using Isida in this account and my alt.  I have completed the same Assault missions, and was mostly assigned to Red one day while played for the Blue in another.

That's another reason why I don't play in ASL, because right now it's just pure garbage.

Time to discuss a trend in the MM system for me. 

 

Cologne: I don't like this map on any of my accounts. While I don't like it, it is sometimes tolerable (Unlike Massacre). 

 

What I noticed is that I'm getting this map every other game (1 in 2-3 battles) and it's irritating. Whether on the same node or different mode, I'm getting this map too frequently for my liking. 

 

There was a time where I got it 3 times in a row and I wanted to leave when it dropped me in that map on the third time but I had a Score 2,000 points mission and points anywhere I could get it would matter and be desirable. 
 

I feel very frustrated when I see I get that map as the perceived atmosphere of the map is "cramped and dull". If this were to happen with a map like Desert, I would feel much better as it is a map I love to play in but I would get fed up of playing the same map over and over eventually. Sadly, it's happening with a map that I don't like.
