Let's discuss my experience during this star event.

First: A significant percentage of battles are not even close. I've gotten full stars several times simply because my teammates were doing nothing and I got wrecked but wrecked least of all.

Second: In a large number of battles, the game goes on 6v8 or worse for a while. Yesterday I fought 4v8 defending in assault until we died. Then  came this game below. It was 4v8 for a good long while. People left and MM did NOT replace them so they just died. At the end it was 8v3...I kinda think that the system should at least somewhat try to keep battles like this from taking place.

Battles like this make me want to exit out and stop playing, and I've seen several. We had these before MM, but that was what MM was supposed to fix. Obviously you can fix "Runners" but replacing them as soon as they leave would be a good start

I don't even try to leave the battle, because I feel like if I do and join the same game mode again, it'll put me in the exact same battle that I left. So I just try to toughen up and deal with it, whether I want to or not.

Again, I have always liked the MM system, but at least half of games I play are like this....like what is one to do? A significant number or people are digging which makes going for stars a lot harder

If "half the games" are like that - why do you like the MM system?

Having half your battles like that is NOT a good thing.

That's because of the latest updates>>overdrives, new turrets, drones alterations<< no wants to play anymore. They have taken all the skill and fun out of the game.

I'm calling it magic at this point. On my account, for 5 days straight, the first map that I'm put in for a DM battle is Sandbox. 5...days...straight. Wasn't surprised the 2nd time, found it interesting the 3rd time, found it eerie the 4th time, and now it has happened for the 5th time. That's incredible. What's to note is that all 5 happened within the time range of 4:00 to 5:00 UTC.

Damn, MM must really like putting you in sandbox.

I got really lucky tonight, MM was nice to me. I was sent to 3 battles where I got at least a 2.33 KD, and 250 to 300 points each, just by playing defense as m3.9 thunder, m2 10/10 hunter and 4/20 driver drone.

That just sounds like the average scoring when you use m3 thunder+sledgehammer... :)

Well it's really lucky to me because it happened 3 times back to back to back.

Also I don't have sledgehammer rounds (yet), and it's like in the middle of the month.

I think this is the most dirty-but-enjoyable battle I've played for a while.

Carnage.png

It started a bit unbalanced. A Short-band Emitter Shaft was on our left corner killing the players that were coming out. An RFM Shaft on Viking was in the base, as well as 3 other enemies, while 4 of our teammates didn't spawn yet. I_GoT_TheRe took the flag and captured it early. I was able to escape and kill some players in their base as well as the player with the falg. My other teamamtes start to spawn and we were able to chase them out of our base for about 15 seconds. Yalla then went and captured a flag for us. They then initiated a massive push.

They captured another flag making us fall behind 2-1. At this point, I have my Overdrive ready and I just let loose on the enemy. A Titan plopped down a dome but I got kill after kill and my teammates ended up getting the flag and capturing it, making it 2-2. My Overdrive finishes and I got 58% from using it alone. My team then was able to start pushes and we infiltrated their base. What happened was that we had a Saboteur Drone user (the enemy team had one as well) which placed enough mines for us to defend properly. Both teams had each other's flags and it was a race to see who would get to it first. We ended up getting it and making it 3-2. Some more carnage after that and the battle ended 5-2.

Somewhere coming down to the end, that guy in the chat said that MM placement sucked and left. I was surprised to see myself have so many more kills than the others. So we came back from something that looked like we inevitably lost.

Can we stop calling it "Matchmaking"? If it were matchmaking, which is a very defined thing in all the games Tanki is trying to emulate, all the players in a battle would've been selected from a queue and placed into a new battle on a random map and game mode. This is just the existing quick play button. If it were matchmaking you wouldn't be able to join an ongoing battle where the enemy team has already won or leave an ongoing battle in some cases. Other games have matchmaking, Tanki has programmed diarrhea.

You can call it "MessMatchMaking" or MMM for short. :)

Yup.  Might as well go back to battle list, and for players too lazy to look at the list - they can hit Quick-Play.

My Brigadier was fighting Gismos and Legends.  MM is pathetic.

The best part is when their duct-taped together Texas Instruments T-24 calculator spends five minutes to send you back into the same battle you just left. You know, because out of potentially thousands of players I wanted to go back to that exact team trying to defend on ASL with Wasp-Magnum. I don't see how they would reintroduce the quick play button, it never left. Matchmaking is just the same quick play button with restrictions and the option of what gamemode you want to try and join. I'm still waiting for them to actually add the battle list to mobile so I can finally play it like you should be able to. I'm still seething over how we had to basically band together with picket signs that said "Do your job you vodka-smelling vagrants".

I laughed pretty hard it this one.

Not sure which was the best part... the reference to Texas Instruments (I had one LOL) or the "vagrants" part.

I just realised:

The-penalty.png

When you put these two together, it makes it so that you'd have to play more DM battles which means you're playing more MM battles.

The penalty is taking away a kill and putting 1 death. When you self-destruct, a kill is taken away, meaning you could have gotten 40 kills in the battle in total but you'd reach the cap of 30 kills at the end because each self-destruct took away 1 kill from the scoreboard. With this update, there is no going around that. The number of kills you get is the number of kills you get, regardless of self-destructing. So at most, you'd only be able to get 30 kills. So those "Score 300 points in Deathmatch battles" missions require you to get 30 kills total in the battles instead of 20. And you know that there can only be one winner, so it's likely that you'd need to enter another battle to complete it.

Pretty sneaky way of making us play longer.

Luckily I already roll away DM missions in 90% of cases.

Don't know about you guys but I'd estimate that 90% of my battles these past few days had the Winter theme.

I noticed this because I usually play during the night and the bright white of the ground has the most  negative effect on my concentration as it's extra brightness being taken into my eyes.
