Matchmaker is a piece of junk.

Once again, you're playing at a time where player numbers are approaching their lowest, so the chances of something like this happening are higher. 

 

I won't ignore that something similar happens in Assault where one team is locked with 5 or 6 players for the entire battle. It always seems to happen in Assault and not in other modes for me.

With your theory it would just take longer for battle to start.

That's not what happened.  It started 6 vs 8 and stayed that way.  It's broken if it gives one team 8 players and the other 6 - but starts the battle anyway.

Hmm. Usually when a team is locked with 5 or 6 players in my battles, it's when 2 others leave early in the battle. I guess your experience is an outlier. It still stands to expect unusual occurrences when player numbers are low. See if it happens when you play during or right after peak hours.

I've been getting Osa a lot in the past week. 

 

Had an instance where from quick battle, I got an Osa SGE, then got an Osa TJR, then got an Osa CP. And this morning, I got an Osa CP, then an Osa TDM, then Industrial Zone CTF, then another Osa CP.

Why can’t everyone just vote top 7 maps or something and make that mm? It can rotate every week for other mm maps, voted ones just appear more often.  

 

Everyone has made it clear Rio and silence are loved.  Massacre sucks.  We want the old madness back.  What is preventing the devs from making these changes? I don’t think it’s too difficult to implement.

Because everyone has different opinions on what is good.  For instance I'm not a fan of Madness - at all.  If it comes up a lot for me because it s one of the 7 - I will have a lot of trouble getting into battles.

 

They need to randomize the entire group more thoroughly - currently I get a group of maps way more often than others.

MM is being harsh to me.

I join quick-play, suddenly faced with everyone being higher rank

most of the times i get one-shot'd, I can not even survive for 10 straight seconds.

They widen the rank-brackets when there are not a lot of people online.  This might be part of your problem.

 

Odd - the battles  do have quite wide brackets right now.  Can't be that few players online...

Had a match yesterday where the enemy team had buyers of up to 7.3k GS, while my entire team was below 4K GS.  For example, 1.3k, 2.3k, 3.4k.  Stomped.

More battles in middle of day today - 8 vs 5 TO START.   Stayed that way until 3 min left.  Other team had 2 early caps and it ended 2-0.  Could have been a decent battle if MatchMaker actually worked.  But it does NOT.

The devs clearly half assed MM. If they looked things over 10x and took a lot of time into improving it, like they are doing with HTML5, it would've been hundreds of times better, not perfect, but at least better than what it is now.

This was a really funny battle. This was 10 minutes after the server restart so battles like these are expected for me. It was 4 v 4 for about a minute or a minute and a half into the battle. The ranks in that 4 v 4 were close, with klon788 being the lowest and Marcos_Carreon being the highest. And somewhere around that time, 3 more players joined , and then 4 left right after. And then...a whole lot of players entered the match and they were Marshal and Above. Then I see Legend players entering the match. And not just 1 or 2 Legends, multiple Legends.

So yeah, I think that's proof of the rank gap suddenly opening up to accept more players into the battle. That was a genuine surprise for me to see so many of them come into the battle at once, even though the starting ranks were so close together. 

 

Oh yeah, and we lost and our team got called stupid. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We did our best.

Matchmaking needs the following:

  • More maps. Vote for the best map, like we used to have polls on the main page. This could change in monthly rotation as well.
  •  A need for keeping a check on the gear score for fair battles. Not the ranks but the gear score should matter more while making a match.

- with voting, there will always be disappointed players who will leave the battle because they did not like how others (groups?) voted.

- gear score already does matter - some.  But how would you possibly give that a priority?  What if I equip my mk1 equipment?  Will that put me in battles with lower ranks?

I did not get your first point. I can't see the context of disappointment and groups with my suggestion of bringing back polls to the home page for selecting MM maps.

As for the second point, I am aware about it and I submitted a new topic to the mods about the idea of GS and how we can implement it. We need restriction in equipment change during MM battles.

Oh - maybe I mis-understood your first point.  I thought you meant before each battle.  But you meant vote on what maps gop into the pool?

What effect would "voting on best map" have?

If possible we could enjoy our favourite maps while earning stars. Tanki has statistics. Some maps which aren't there in MM are found a lot in pro battles. A poll on the tanki website about choosing our favs from a list can definitely improve our MM experience.Voting not for the best but a group of maps we would like to play in. For example I would love to have Noise and Monte Carlo included. This is gonna help us enjoy more for sure.

It's a terribly unbalanced map - the top (red) has a huge advantage.

Sorry to say - that map will never be added to MM - unless they change it so much it will not be recognizable.

I totally forgot about how it has become now. You are right about it but back 15-16 it was awesome

Is it right to assume that there is a higher % chance of being placed on some maps compared to others? Bobruisk, Parma and Serpuhov seem very frequent whereas I rarely play on highland.
