New overdrive visual effects, once in a while.

So once in a while when I activate overdrives, the visual effects becomes one of the future effects.

 

For example, when I was playing hunter, I got the visual effect that was fog with lightning in it.

 

On dictator, I got one that looked like the rank up visual.

 

And it's not just me that I'm seeing this. I've seen a few hornets with offsetting circles after overdrive activation, and even a forcefield effect on an overdriven titan.

 

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I noticed too with Viking hull. Obviously a coding issue. Dev usually add part of features secretly, and they are triggered when the code did not expect a situation and then display it instead of the standard one. It's only a visual effect thought and it happens fewer than it did 3 weeks ago where it was like every 5-10 OD activation. I doesn't looks like the game effect are yet in the system.

I would bet Tanki did this on purpose as a teaser for the coming overdrive mechanics.

No, it's just Tanki being Tanki.

 

When have they ever added anything to the game that wasn't bugged in some way or another? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Obviously a coding issue.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Could be a teaser, or an intentional implementation of the effects to test them on the main servers. Who knows...

Heh, yeah I've noticed it on my Titan and my Viking. Recently though, I was chasing a wasp M3 who was going towards my flag in an Industrial Zone CTF and the explosion animation for the bomb for Wasp's overdrive happened. Instead of being excited, I was a bit blinded because it happened so suddenly and my tank was in the face of the blast, then 2 allies and a player on the enemy team kept asking what the heck blew up until I told them what happened.  :lol:

I’ve noticed, and it seems to be happening more frequently as time goes by. One of the shared Overdrives happened to me and a couple nearby tanks earlier today. Very cool effect - combo of fire and lightning zapping from tank to tank.

Honestly, I hope they never implement the hull-specific Overdrives. IMO it feels like combining paints and protection modules all over again. A move in the wrong direction for the game.

Reverting paint separation is actually a good idea, no more kids running with all 50% from specific turret. Earlier we had to think about choice, now u just put 100€ paint and protection against 3 most op turrets

I do not want to wear a specific (maybe ugly) paint just to get some protection. I also do not want any animated paint because most of them are ugly or they have too much contrast.

 

I got Sakura and Lime from container. Lime is much rarer but it is totally ugly. On the other hand, Sakura is beautiful so I use it most of the time. It has also similar camouflage effect as White, Holiday (it is much better now because devs changed it to have minimal contrast, it is now like better White), Sandstone, Desert or Prodigi.

 

Of course, Prodigi is better than Sakura because its color is simply perfect. It camouflages you on basically every terrain. However, I do not want to spend 55000 crystals on Prodigi or 4739296327€ on Prodigi 2,0 (animated).

While, I also hated being locked into an ugly paint for the protections, the game has since the disintegration introduced way too many new paints, in some cases by the dozens (cough World Cup). This has made opening containers in search of anything specific an excercise in frustration and disappointment. There is just too much junk out there.

 

 

UPDATE - saw a Wasp Bomb in MM Sandbox yesterday. Impressive, yet really distracting if that becomes commonplace.
