I think that green flames would look really weird and confusing. How can flames be green?

Burning Lithium has a beautiful green flame. But please don't go setting Lithium batteries on fire, they tend to explode.

I have;

 

Firebird - pink flame

 

Twins - coral reef, sky

 

Ricochet - aqua

 

Railgun - blood

 

Shaft - magma

 

... and I don't use any of them :).

Wish I had a Firebird effect, I like all of them except Magma. (In fact, the only Magma one I like is Shaft. Firebird's and Ricochet's don't look good to me.)

 

I have Violet Railgun, Blue Shaft, and Eclipse Hammer.

The drop rates for shot effects are utterly pathetic. Anyone disagree?

How about we set some expectations and then decide whether they are pathetic or not. Consider this statement for a moment. 

 

"Players should be able to obtain one shot effect for all applicable turrets from containers in the average time to go from recruit to legend."

 

Note: There are currently nine applicable turrets. This statement implies that the player should receive, with average luck, nine shot effects, not shot effects until they have one from every turret. (Of course it is possible that the player would receive one shot effect from each turret just unlikely)

 

If this statement were true, would it be fair? Or would it be too generous or too uncharitable?

Note: There are currently nine applicable turrets. This statement implies that the player should receive, with average luck, nine shot effects, not shot effects until they have one from every turret. (Of course it is possible that the player would receive one shot effect from each turret just unlikely)

 

If this statement were true, would it be fair? Or would it be too generous or too uncharitable?

Yeah, I considered that. I did some testing on Black Friday by opening 200 containers. How many do you think I got?

People from the RU community have told me that the drop formula specifically gave them shot effects for turrets they didn't use and that none of them - that is, nada - were for their primary, secondary, or tertiary turrets.

 

If your statement was true, I'd lose the replayability of TO very quickly. You can see that I main Shaft, and having just a Violet shot effect for the rest of your life doesn't make me a happy man.

I wish there was a "Void" color for Railgun...I have it for my Hammer, and it looks FABULOUS, and I would 100% run it on Railgun if I was given the opportunity!

Excellent! But also not excellent. 

 

Because if this statement is true, then the chances of getting shot effects are pathetic. 

 

I did some calculations, which I can post if you want, but I have come to the conclusion that for the type of player that I think the game is balanced around, there would need to be a slightly greater than 4% chance of getting a shot effect for this imaginary player to get an average of one shot effect per month. I don't think the chance of getting a shot effect is 4%. (This imaginary player I used was a non buyer btw)

 

Personally 4% sounds good to me, I'm not sure about you. I don't think that 1 shot effect per month is the benchmark used by developers unfortunately, I think the real chance for shot effects is around 2%. Anyways, good luck to you on collecting shaft colours, whatever % stands in your way.

See, the thing these aren't factoring in is that Shot Effects are 1 of 3 possible items you can obtain when your container contains an item from the Epic Rarity.

 

And I am certain (without proof in this case, of course) that the chances to get different items in the same rarity are not equal. But let's assume they are equal. How likely do you think it is for that person to receive a shot effect for every one of those epic containers? So it's likely that you burned through many epic containers and failed to obtain shot effects on some of them. That is a lot of epic containers to get. A lot of luck. I don't know how achievable epic containers are and is supposed to be by the devs, so i can't tell if that's too generous or not, especially when 2 of the 3 have minimal impact, if any, on gameplay performance.

I'm tunnel-visioning on shot effects right now. But yes, it is silly to expect to get a shot colour from every epic container. More likely that just over half of epic containers are shot effects. And with that in mind, statement #2 is awfully generous, and I could kind of see that when I came up with it, but carried on anyways.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. The only effect I've gotten from opening a container is the blue one for Shaft. When I opened it, my Shaft was M0 and I didn't use it.

one kind of effect i would like to see is a Uranium shot effect for Freeze, Railgun, Isida, or Shaft. I bet it would look amazing on them.

Please add shot effect colors for Smoky and Thunder. Firebird needs a green flame shot effect. Please add one. we need more green shot effects.

I am the Riddler after all, so I expect the green color shot effects to be the number one priority. Please add more green shot effects of various green shades. I have noticed that there are turrets like Isida that have only one shot effect color. Each turret needs much more than one color effect. At least 20 shot effect colors for each turret would be more convenient to players. Players want more choices, so please add all the colors.

Hulls recently had alterations added, so why not add shot color effects for hulls. Shot color effects on hulls could be tied to the dust particles and their overdrives. Hulls could also have a glow shot effect when aiming and shooting at them from a distance. That would be an awesome idea for new shot effects on hulls. These would not be called (shot effects) for hulls, but actually called (hull glow effects).
