What controls do you use to play Tanki and how do you use them?

I've always wondered what controls tanker would use to play the game. 

 

My way was certainly not what the default controls were and I thought that I may be the only tanker playing the way I play, although that may be unlikely seeing that it's me and more than 30k players playing this game. 

 

This thread is to discuss what controls you use to drive your tank to victory and how it is achieved. 

 

There are my controls:

 

W,A,S,D: Driving 

 

Z,X,C: Turret rotation

 

Spacebar: Shooting

 

Shift: Overdrive

 

R: Checking the stats on players in the battle

 

1, 2, 3, 4 and 5: Supplies. 

 

 

The way I do it:

 

Left Hand:

 

My left Index and Middle finger control W, A, S and D.

 

My left thumb alone controls my turret rotation, Z, X and C, and for pressing Shift when I have my Overdrive. This is the only finger that fatigues at some point in time. 

 

My Ring finger is used to press "Tab" to check the scoreboard in a battle. 

 

Right Hand:

 

Usually, my right Index and Middle finger are for the Spacebar. Sometimes I use four of my fingers excluding my right thumb. 

 

My right Pinky finger is for pressing "Enter" so I can write and send messages.

Will use pinky for tab and shift

 

will use index finger for E and R, ring finger for Q

I use the default setup, because I'm no good with the mouse controls, especially since the camera moves faster than the turret itself which I think sucks.

Thumb for shooting (spacebar)

A...Camera up

S...OD

D...Camera down

W...Pause

R...Protections of other tanks

1-5 for supplies

 

 

Right hand

 

Arrow keys for driving

If keyboard is ghosting I use j k l i for driving

0 for Gold Box

Yes, there was another topic similar to this one, I remember answering it. I started looking through the archives, but stopped after Pg 15. Then I started using the search box but couldn't come up with the right keywords.

Actually, I was trying out Shaft with mouse controls and I have to say...it feels really rewarding. makes me feel more like a professional. Only for Shaft though, any other turret I use with it never works out.

Left:

• Ring finger - Shift, Tab, Q (camera) and 1 (RK)
• Middle finger - Z, E (camera) and 2 (DA)
• Index finger - X, 3, 4, 5, C, F, G and R
• Thumb - Spacebar

Right:

• O, K, L and ";" are my equivalent of WASD keys, because I have pretty bad ghosting on all other combinations
• "+" for gold box
• Enter for chat

I also usually use actual WASD with my left hand when sniping with Shaft.

I'm no pro, but I was under the impression that you would have to rewire your motherboard or something similar to actually fix keyboard ghosting

I do most things with left hand, I use right hand only to shoot and self-destruct.

I'm one of the few people that's using mouse-controls (i have a laptop with anti-ghosting). It really isnt that bad, just need to adapt to new controls. Works really well with shaft.

Supplies (1Pinky, 2Ring, 3Ring, 4index, 5index)

Left Hand:

Arrow keys (Index,Middle and Ring)

Overdrive: Numpad0 (pinky)

 

P.S: There are only 2 strange things, 1st I use Numpad0 (pinky) for OD which provides the flexibility to drive, shoot and turn at the same time when I activate OD. And for similar reason I used C and V for camera controls because I love to shoot, control turret and hull while changing the camera angles at the same time without lifting any finger.

I use up left right down and X,C and sometiems Z like any normal human being would and should.... (or sometimes I use K O ; L     because I cant shoot, drive and turret alll at once with some turrets because my key board sucks)
