Does anybody miss when you could press "v" and see people's stuff, just curious but how many of you liked it when you could see people's protection modules AND upgrades.

What was the reason for Gear Score's implementation? Was it so people could have the motivation to get to the highest number possible? Was it to hide the fact that everyone in the mid ranks has M1 and M2 10/10 so the players wouldn't feel overwhelmed?

I don't think they properly answered this question when we asked them.

Yeah, GS is only good for estimating how much overall power a player has, but not how how much of a threat they are to you at that particular moment. Say that the enemy has a legendary paint, shot effect, turret and hull skins, three 50% modules and a full MU tank with a drone. That's 9999 gear score. But if none of their modules protect from your turret and their drone is passive and you have a single 50% module from their turret and a full MU tank, then you will easily beat them in a 1v1 even if your gear score might be only around 5000.

But I do think that the one thing GS is good for is calculating the overall strength of a team, which could be used to compare it to the enemy team. Although if this was to be used when balancing teams in MM battles, the whole garage needs to be taken into account when calculating GS.

Think about, if the GS replacing the old system was necessary, then why does everyone want the old system back?

I think it's because by "everyone" you mean people who actually care enough about the game to discuss updates and criticise them. In reality the majority of players probably never even check the "R" info panel in battles and if they do, they only want to see the most basic information and don't care about the specifics, such as turret and hull modifications and MUs.

Can't speak for others but MU info is exactly the info I was looking for when pressing R in the past.

If someone killed me, I wanted to know what gear they had so I had some idea of what gear I needed to get in order to stand a fighting chance.

Going by what the hull/turret visually looks like in battle is worthless because it could be totally MU'd and thus not be the M-value it appears, which is where the R or V key info was useful.

Like this time last year where I was M2 and being slaughtered by this player in OSA. Without R I would have just thought he was M3 not the M3+ he was.  That made me buy an M3 kit.

And use every crystal to MU to M3+.

GS is a 4 digit number that serves less of a function than a rock. It gives no valuable information about your opponent, you can't interpret what it means.

I don't recall people complaining about the previous system, so why did they have to change it if it was far from being broken?! If you really want something broken to fix, look at matchmaking's loading times, or the lag you get at the start of each match, or duplet being an overpowered controversy.

They answered it about as well as the question about... "Why were Hunter and Viking stats switched?"...

It only takes 5 minutes to learn what that info reads. Heck, they could even put it in the tutorial!
