Remove containers from the shop

Recommended Posts

There are being laws issued in various countries now to ban games that contain any sort of gambling mechanic tied to money. In TO, the only thing that is associated with it, and why I've heard it's banned in Belgium has to be because the containers are purchasable.

Seriously, just remove the containers from the shop. A lot of the essential stuff you get from the normal containers can be obtained via other means without too much hassle and most of the rare stuff in them is just cosmetic anyway. AG has plenty of purchases much more useful in the shop like kits, premium, or straight up crystals.

Seems like quite the push, but I'd suggest considering it so that this game isn't blocked because of gambling laws due to this one feature. Pretty sure if you cannot purchase the containers themselves, it would be fine, though best to check that with the Belgium law and whatever not else.

Declined

AlternativaPlatform have their own qualified people who deal with legal matters concerning the game and its features. If containers become a threat to the game's availability, developers will be sure to take action.

Are 125 speed boosts really worth $1.49?

125 x 50 cry = 6250 cry

12,000 cry in the Shop is 3.99 USD.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

yes there is a bundle which gives you 15k crystals for 1.49 USD but that's technically a special offer

I see. Well, in that case, you are right. You do get something with the same worth or more than the price of one.

How much flag paints are worth?

How much shot colors for a turret you don't even use are worth?

How much are virtual items really worth?

If giving something to a player makes it not gambling, then anyone can open a gambling place and give something instead of nothing to the losers, a hat, a thank you sticker or whatever.

Touche

In this scenario I think the ball is in Tanki's court. The value of virtual items is determined by how much they are sold for. I know that such and such a garage paint is worth such and such crystals, and I don't think it's hard to show that that paint is worth more or less than a given sum of real money based on crystal purchase rates in the Shop. But the thing with flag paints and shot color is that they are exclusively available in containers, which, I would imagine, allows Tanki to define their value to be the cost of one container or more, since that is the only way to "buy" them. Giving something which is equal to or exceeds the value of the "entry cost" is not really gambling per se.

It doesn't really matter since you can get some things that have a well-defined value and are worth less than the cost of one container, so what I said is moot.

You do, actually. In this case, 3,500 crystals would equivalate to $1.50.

Therefore, you do get the crystals for 1 cent less making ThirdOnion's point still valid.

no, calculate again ;) 1,50 is worth 4500 crystals, not 3500
