Changes in battles & Massacre map

Battles are now too short. It's hard to earn a big score.

 

You need at least 90 points to be eligible for a star, so if you finish a battle with less than 90 points you don't get any stars. That makes it more difficult for players to earn stars to complete the second challenge.

 

Please change matchmaking battles to 10 minutes like it was at the beginning. You can set a matchmaking checkpoint, so when the timer does down by 5 minutes, players earn their current stars, and earn the next set of stars when they finish the battle.

Threshold is 70 now.

 

But you still raise some good points.

They shorten battle time only to feed their challenges propaganda.

At least blowouts don't last as long now. That's a plus.

 

But then again, that can be a double-edged sword where the team being blown out has less time to reach the threshold for stars.

Another utterly ASININE update.
Shorter battles means more wasted time WAITING! 
 
Why?  
 
Because of the excrement that is MatchMaker!
MatchMaker takes so goddamn long to get into a battle that it now consumes a VERY significant part of every battle.
 
Compare the numbers:

But wait!  It's actually WORSE that that!
 
Before MatchMaker, you could play the next battle on the same map!  So there was no reinitialization time.
With MatchMaker, the reinitialization happens with EVERY GAME.  So while repeated games BEFORE MatchMaker wasted just 1% AFTER the first game on a map, with MatchMaker, an extra 10 seconds is added to every MatchMaker game.
 

 

That means with a 7 minute game,

MatchMaker is now WASTING 19.3% of your time just WAITING.

 
Of course, it's even worse than that. Anyone who has tried to get into an assault or rugby game knows that you can enter the game - but still be left with the loading screen.  It happens to me about 1/5 the time.  That means you actually wait MINUTES for a game that never even lets you enter.  And there's the "An error occurred" message - which is the same thing.  So if one game in 10 fails to start properly and times out, with a three minute timeout, that's an average of an additional 18 seconds per game - which means you're just sitting there - WAITING - for more than a FOURTH of the total time.
 
Or, to put it another way, if you're playing Tanki for 1 hour, you're actually playing for just 45 minutes - and staring at a screen waiting for Tanki to start for 15 minutes!  Compare that to 36 SECONDS of waiting time before MatchMaker!
 
And the changes to Massacre?  Just more Tanki stupidity.  Massacre was a different map.  Back before MatchMaker took away your choice of map, you might choose to play it - or choose to avoid it.  You had a choice.  But it wasn't like all the other maps - and that was good.  This is the second time Tanki has RAPED this map.  It's not improved.  It's "homogenized" - made to look like every other Tanki map.
 
And that's a bad thing.
 
TANKI - Why don't you pull your collective head out and go fix the BUGS!??

1. Battle time has been reduced to 7 min. So far, since the beginning of the matchmaking crap, I have NEVER entered a battle with more than 7 min left on the game! The average battle time left was 5 min. I take it now we will enter with about 1 min left and we will not even have time to get out of the spawn killing zone. And if you have the wrong combo for the map, because with matchmaking we do not know on what crappy map we will get dumped and 90% of the time we have the wrong combo, good luck getting in to the garage in time. For some reason, it takes over 2 min to get in and change equipment. And don't tell me to get better internet connection!

 

2. I never understood the need to wait 5 min or even 3 min to change equipment. I think 1 min is more reasonable.

Actually, something more like 10 seconds is about right. Forget the stupid garage graphics. Give me a pull down menu at the top of the screen for turret, hull, protection and drone that I can make changes on in less than 2 seconds each and then a "change" button. Easy-peasy. No graphics loading wait time. And why should anyone have to wait to change equipment?

and yet, matchmaking is still one of the worst things in this game

totally agree with this. been in two battles on legend accounts and both were near or under 4 minutes. you can't even get kills in that amount of time with the new updates. I can barely now get 10 kills in a single battle. the other day when the changes happen it took me 7 battles just to make 200 exp . there is really nothing good about playing now.

Please Cedric and Tanki Devs reconsider this change to 7 minute battles and the greatly reduced parameters - this is one of the worst changes to the fun of the game yet, and I think most players would agree. There are several core elements of Tanki which if you change it will greatly reduce the fun of the game, and battles times of a certain length is one of them, the recent changes have reduced this beyond the appropriate level. A certain amount of battle time is needed for strategy within a game, to allow comebacks and adapt to the opposition - battles this short are not fun and if this is not changed back or improved somehow Tanki will be a lesser game.

8 minute battles were already too short, you had it correct at 10 minutes, but it is not just the time but you have reduced the parameters too much.

 

Let's do some maths:

 

Battle times were reduced by 1 - (7/8) ~ 12.5%

 

However the score to win in DM and CP was reduced by 1 - (30/50) ~ 40%

 

Score to win in TDM and ASL was reduced by 1 - (100/70) ~ 30%

 

Score to win in CTF and RGB was reduced by 1 - (5/7) ~ 29%

 

So the parameter reduction is far greater than the reduction in battle time - this is making battles much, much shorter even than 7 minutes.

 


We are seeing games regularly which are only 4 minutes or less in length, and if you join at half way through (1 minute left?) you barely have a chance to reach the enemy base, certainly won't even get your first overdrive or maybe even reach the score threshold for a star. This is far, far too short.

 

I advise the Tanki Devs to bring the battles back to 8 minutes, or better yet to 10, and at the very least change the parameters to: 80 kills/score to win in TDM/ASL, 40 kills/points in DM/CP, 6 flags/goals in CTF/RGB. This would be more in line with the change in battle time - the reductions have been too excessive. But really, you need to get battles back to 8/10 mins and score back to what it was before, this is not a good change for the game.

 

Tanki Online and the customers who have been playing and paying for the game for years are PC users, and Tanki is not fundamentally a mobile game - and most of the players who use mobile will be PC players. If you try to center the game around mobile (which is perhaps what time Battle time thing is based upon?), you will ruin the PC game and destroy Tanki. Also, if it is to reduce the matchmaking queue time - it is not worth it. We are would rather have a longer queue wait and decent battles, we might be queuing for less time with shorter battles but we are queuing more often - players are not stupid and we realise the same amount of time is spent queuing. It is not worth a reduced queue time, or any reason to ruin battle duration like this.

 

If you wanted to make stars / missions more easy to complete there are others way to achieve this. Simply reduce the difficulty of missions or reduce the number of stars required to tier - for instance reduce star requirements by 20% to 8 for tier 1 and 1600 for tier 50 - and bring battles back to 8/10 minutes.

 

The best and most successful game companies listen to their customers, to some extent, Tanki has shown reluctance to actually listen to feedback in the past. The feedback is this - battle times are too short, so please change it back. Even as someone who didn't at all mind the matchmaking system, this is the first change that makes me seriously consider if I find this game fun enough to continue playing or spend money on in the future.

due to most players are so use to playing on PC's . I'm now finding more noob battles cause of them not knowing  how to use there cell phones for battles.. is someone out there who can make a video and show what and how to use them . I understand not all phones work the same but most set ups are basic functions buttons.

i can not believe they reduce the time for 7 minutes 

by the time i find a match the remaining time is 6 -+

plz increase the time for at least 10 minutes if not 15 minute

 

(sometimes i wish they will bring back the old tanki)

By the way Make Juggernaut stronger in M1-M2(uranium salvo deals almost 10000 damage (with DD) ) And the M2 juggernaut has 11-12K health.

Perhaps someone has already defined this, but 70 score is the minimum for Stars now, with the changes. 70+ get stars, 69 or less, no soup for you.

Yeah, But can anyone explain why someone with 130 points gets 2 Bonus points and the one below with 95 gets 4?

I can barely now get 10 kills in a single battle. the other day when the changes happen it took me 7 battles just to make 200 exp . there is really nothing good about playing now.

Maybe because you are using hornet in an MM battle?

7 Minutes battle...really?

The comebacks are not possible now....the game gets over as soon as the enemy caps the first flag or scores the first goal...only one overdrive can be used effectively (apart from the nuclear box and the second overdrive is ready for use just seconds away of the battle ends). For more competitiveness the duration should be 10 minute or more because 2 minutes usually gets wasted in the process of joining the battle because of matchmaking or changing equipments so currently the effective time for playing is barely 5 minutes. Atleast for me it has ruined all the fun as this system will not even allow the battle mods to even take any action against mults/sabotage as it s not possible to report, keep check, moderate and punish on the bases 1-2 minutes of spectating.

Right you are about the overdrive and good luck if you have a mission like use 50 overdrives in battles! Heck, I had tough time completing a mission to use 5 overdrives because I got in to battles that were just about ending because not only the reduced the time but they also reduced the flags/points etc. SO by the time you enter an unbalanced battle, the game is over!

Heck, I had tough time completing a mission to use 5 overdrives because I got in to battles that were just about ending because not only the reduced the time but they also reduced the flags/points etc. SO by the time you enter an unbalanced battle, the game is over!

I finished the 'Use 50 overdrives' mission in a day.
