Is it best to save weekly containers?

 Share

Recommended Posts

So, weekly containers give you more and more stuff as you rank up. If you already have enough supplies (not critically low,) and enough crystals for whatever you are saving for/what is unlocked at your rank, does it make sense to save your weekly containers until you reach a higher rank? Do the contents depend on the rank you are at when you open the containers, or the rank you are at when you open them?

You can always open them if you are getting low on stuff, and the quantity of supplies locked into the containers is increasing as you rank up, right?

I don't know if the rewards are locked at the rank you receive them or not. I doubt it though since the containers are basically the old weekly chains in container form, which reward you based on your current rank. It would be cool if someone could clarify this.

If the only variable that matters is the rank you currently are when you open them (not the rank you obtained them). Then saving them would be a decent idea to gain extra rewards.

the rewards depend on the rank you open them, and not the rank you get them. so if you want to the most then wait till legend before you open them.

however, i think it's better to open them instantly as the crystals matter more at lower ranks... at low ranks you can rule the world with a couple drugs whereas unlimited drugs might not prevent you from getting crushed at higher ranks

I can clarify that, just let me rank to Legend and open all the Weekly Containers, take notes of the rewards and see if all rewards are based on the Legend rank or not. Sounds like easy math.

I'm 90% sure that the rewards will increase if you save your containers.

This can be tested by someone about to rank. They can open their weekly containers now (before ranking), then earn some more container before ranking, then rank, and then open the containers already owned and see if the rewards are greater.

im quite sure somebody tested this and posted on forum.

they do indeed depend only on rank at which u open them.

but the problem is, if you're short on supplies or crystals, and you have 100 weekly containers stacked, you can't open 10 and leave 90 to open at legend.

you either open all at one go, or none.

plz pass on the idea to devs to allow opening them 1 at a time.

Yeah, that's true. But on the other hand, keeping them for opening later isn't intended at all, so it's almost like an exploit of sorts. Although I agree that the system should be improved. In fact, I don't understand why lower rank players get less supplies at all, since their mechanics are exactly the same, so if you want to play normally, you would end up using the same amount of supplies as a Legend player.

exploit? its an investment strategy.

forego current consumption, reap bigger rewards later on.

and anyways, im sure it is intended.

otherwise they could have just added the crystals and supplies to our accounts instantly on completion of the chain.

like it was in the old system.

and with these large rank brackets, low ranks definitely need more supplies.

It's easier to make kills on lower ranks (lesser/no modules equipped) - so you really don't need as many DDs.

And same with batteries - drones hardly used in lower ranks.

other supplies like DA and SB and mines - true - usage would be similar.

The bigger difference though is crystals awarded.  Equipment costs keep going up with m-level, so it makes sense for upper ranks to get more crystals per container.  Giving lower ranks same crystals every week to buy cheaper items would mess up the economy.

If I started this game from scratch the strategy I would use is save all weekly containers for high ranks. I'd probably open them at legend but it makes some sense to open them once I got an m3 combo, so I can use them to take advantage of all monthly MU sales in the meantime. But if I could get away with not opening them until legend, great! Running out of RK's is likely to be an issue though.

OK, fair enough. I understand the lower crystal rewards due to lower prices, but didn't think of it that way in terms of supplies.

Better not wait until Legend to open them. You may log in one day to find all of them gone because of an update that would "benefit the players."

I did that and yes the reward DOES increase.

Save up your weekly container and open them up later. MORE crystals!

But... then you won't be upgrading as much or buying new m-lvl items.  So your current equipment will be poor compared to peers who cash in now.  Will likely reflect in battle standings = less stars, less rewards, more difficulty doing missions.

Think of it as inflation.   $100 today is worth same as $150 next year...

Only time it's worth saving is when you are close to ranking up, or if you don't need the crystals for an important upgrade.

I've actually been doing this for about two weeks. It only occurred to me then, the benefits of doing it. I figured that I had started too late because I wanted to obtain 35 of them to get 100k crystals on the spot to use for any upcoming sales. So far, I've only collected 13.

Can go both ways. One day you could log in and Tanki's buffed Weekly container rewards, and you have a stash of 200. Nice!!

It's easy enough to manage without opening Weekly conts and still have competitive equipment. We had to do it for our RTL, even without extra incomes new players get now. More x2 funds, better loser funds, containers, daily missions.etc.

"daily" missions... <_<     "100 kills" will not be so daily for many casual players...

If you have no crystal shortages then save away.  Me-thinks there will be plenty of players though that will be opening those stashes within a rank or two of saving them.  "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" as they say.

Damn. With that, you'll get 198k crystals on the spot. With my amount, I'll only get 56k on the spot. I wonder if there's anyone who's been saving them since they came out.
