You can change them without paying on the mobile by watching advertisements.
At some point in the future, you would buy a drone and batteries would be useful. Better stash them now. Missions are here to help everybody and they are not tailored to your need as it is random process.

Batteries get used at the rate of 1 per minute.  So that's 7 in an average battle.

Two days of battles will burn up those batteries.  And then what?

Drones are an end-game item. You're supposed to buy and upgrade them only when you're in a situation when you literally have nothing else to buy, meaning that you have a garage full of all of the hulls, turrets, most alterations and 50% modules.

 

So unless you are at that point or close to it, I would never recommend spending on drones, since it's a massive waste for the most part.

Trooper drone upgraded to 12-14 seconds helps you survive spawning in DMs.  Will help you move up the score-board.

Why not? They still can be useful for player at low ranks, even at low MU. The batteries are available among rewards, so use those.

Balance would be nice. At the very least there should be a limit on how many upgrades a lower rank can have on their drones, and less upgraded drones should use less batteries.

The only one I'd want is one that's like the old Jumping Jack firework from the 70s.  If you were a kid in the 70s UK you'd remember that damn thing chase you round the garden.

God, nowhere on the map would be safe.  Especially for the enemy.

Actually those batteries could come in handy if you use them wisely, like not in every battle you jump into. Also getting an expensive drone isn't a necessity since the cheaper ones aren't that bad, although they do work best in only certain situations.

I don't have a drone, either. I've never had a 3 battery missions at the same time, but I've had 2 battery missions at the same time. You get batteries in missions, batteries in containers, and batteries in challenges. I hate it when I get a container for doing weekly missions and all that's in it is batteries. Players who have drones, on the other hand, are grateful for the freebies. Since no everyone uses batteries, I think there should be a choice between batteries and something else. 

 

Someone said that it's good everyone gets batteries, because you may decide to buy a drone later on, like when you reach Legend. Then you'll have a lot of batteries saved up, or something to that effect. Which is a valid point. Let me be the judge of what I want or need and pay the consequences later, if need be.
