Talk about Tanki friends who haven’t been online in years here.

Recommended Posts

Well I miss one person mostly atm which is @Vikk, he was going through some tough times and he would always contact me if he wanted to talk just so he would smile and think positive. Haven't heard from him for a couple of months and I'm really worried about him. I have his contact but he hasn't picked up his phone calls or messages. Hopefully soon he will reply.

has he contacted you yet?

I will forever praise Adriel's work on the forum, he has been valuable since day 1. Without the others though, it's a dead place even with Adri. Though he is the best, we need darkness back. We need the old personia back. We need Galaxy. We need Marc. We need me. We need maryam. We need the olden days.

Marc, Maryam and galaxy yes

Darkness, never hear of him

The rest, no

I was wondering when a topic about old friends turned into a battle between the two of you (then again, didn’t they all?) until I came across this... I’m touched :P

I started playing this game only with the help of my friend, he was really a good XP / BP player, he showed me a lot of tactics. I miss the good times with that guy, when we were playing the whole night and talking about everything.

First people that come to mind are mosey8 and braddew. They were my irl friends from church, and both of them showed me Tanki Online back in 2011, when I was 9. This was before the Friends system, so I never saw them in a battle. One day, years later, I was in a battle on a new account I had made (not the original one I made, that's a long story that I don't want to get into). I was playing, and then I saw braddew. I wanted to tell him that it was me even though I was on another account. What makes me sad is that there was no way to do so. I was going through a day-long chat ban for Flooding, so I couldn't speak in the chat. Goes without saying that I never saw them again in Tanki. Both are WO4s, and mosey8 is r_mosey80 now. braddew has played for 0.1 hours since the ratings page was introduced though.

Fast forward to 2012, I was sitting in the chat. I saw this person named silverstream, and I started talking with them because we were both fans of the Warriors book series (I knew this because of their username, because that's a character's name). We talked for a little while, and we were friends. Still, this was before the invention of the friends system, so to see some random person in the chat again is about as likely as doing that on Omegle. r_silverstream0 is a Sergeant-Major.

--------

I think changes to the game have made it harder to find people. The chat is now Master Sergeant and up, and it's basically just Legends talking about random stuff. When you had to be a Private, there were a lot of rulebreakers for sure, but you had just about anyone chatting.

Matchmaking has also slowed down Battle Chats. There are only 7 minutes per battle, so it's rushed to finish the goal first and no conversations can really be had. I think that the devs have kind of forgotten that online games like Tanki have a surprisingly large social aspect, and MM, having to click onto the chat, and having to be a Master Sergeant before you can even go onto the chat prevents that.

I use to regular play with people, and have a good chat with them from all over the world.. Sad fact is you never see them, and I think the update to groups was part of that.. I was always in wave with my chums, and got to know a lot of people. Monah1984 from Lebanon, and we use to chat about her daughter.. SAULELGANDUL, a player from Spain, who drives the trains. Momma Bear, with her Hammer, when she was 2 gold star.( i wont tell any more than that). The list goes on.. That is the part I really miss about Tanki.. You could really break down barriers and misconceptions of other cultures, and build meaningful relationships. We would discuss problems and help each other out with advice.. Even being their for a friend from India, who was getting Divorced, and the trauma of not seeing his kids any more.. Or the heart ache, of seeing your tanki chum with terminal cancer( Dogtank) , and only months to live.

sivart use to teach me rail gun use, along with DEADEND69, but I think Sarah changed her name.

Most of all, I miss playing along side my wave chum- alienman2115, when we lost touch with each other through the clan system introduction, and his ill health, with a 3rd heart attack.

Tanki now has become insular, and very inward looking. You don't get that chance to meet people any more, and get to know them( within limits)You may guess that I'm an adult, and related to a lot of the adult players.. Don't get me wrong, I still see a lot of old players too, and are still in friends list..

Devs have lost site of how important this friendship, in the community was, and in some case, was the reason for playing Tanki… Well good post, and thanks for letting me go down memory lane, If you see me out there. say hello... Ta ta for now :)

Spot on! Bye for now!

My deleted and best Tanki friend was alexiael. When I was 13 and came back from school we would be online and we played together along with other common friends.

One day he was offline but it was something common for him sometimes but that was different.

He never logged in again and I knew he would never return but I never deleted him from my friends list just in case.

But before about 3 years when Tanki deleted the innactive accounts it was time to say goodbye.

When I logged in that day the first thing I went to see was my friends list.

He wasn't there

Interesting story right there. I probably have some happier memories from this game but I suppose those who have played this game long enough also have their own fair share of sad memories. I know I do.

For a seasonal player like me who played sporadically from way back in 2014 till early 2017, every now and then I return to the game and forums. I run into some pretty old and new people alike. There were times when I felt a little heartbroken upon realising that I had some good friends with whom I won't be able to contact again since they quit and I didn't have any other way to contact them.

However, at the same time I established contacts with some pretty amazing people outside TO. I relish the good fortune of being able to take my friendships with them well beyond this game long after we have stopped playing this game. I've met with a few people out in the real world whom I originally met in this game or the forum.

I remember a player from 2015 named arcade_kings_foever, we were good friends, he taught me basics of XP/BP. His name now is S.R.E.E, probs quit the game.
Will never forget him.

My first best friend in this game, joey2w, always invited me to play with this friend group. Sad, he lost interest by Colonel.

My former clanmates of Shield Assassin.

Some more well-known ones:

Scorpenstein, Damn_Slow, GodMode_OFF, etc etc
