  1. 1. How do you use Gear Score?

    • GS is a useless statistic for the most part.

    • I rarely refer to GS in battles.

We all have them...I guess we all have them, I haven't really looked in a long time.  Anyway, what do you think of GS?  Does it help you in battles?  If it does, please post how since I can find no use for it at all....maybe I'm missing something.

Tanki says that MM doesn't take GS into account and I think that is true (even though it is coming from Tanki and is therefore very suspect)  When GS was introduced at the cost of an actually valuable statistic (MU level) I did some experimenting and tried changing paints and equipment to generate a very low GS.  Then I donned my Legendary-Super-Duper-Exotic-Rare-Whatever-Animated paint along with my hull and turret of the highest MUs and got tossed into about the same level of battles...so I think Tanki is actually not lying and GS has nothing to do with determining placement in MM.

After messing with GS initially, I've never used it for anything.  For me, Gear Score is a bit less pertinent than our Achievements rating...uhhh, I don't know that either :)

Even with my M4 Viking, M4 Isida, Synaesthesia paint and (almost) max protections, I can never seem to get 9000 Gear Score. How the hell are you supposed to get to 9999, which I assumed was the max possible GS?

Maybe now you have to have some unique skins for your hull and turret, also, probably, the most expensive drone fully MUed and maybe all the alterations...maybe all the drones?  Oh, and certainly shot effects.  Maybe even a one-off special bundle paint.  This is just conjecture of course, I have no real insight.

Dude!  Great minds and all.  :)   I just took a screen shot of this and was going to post it...you beat me to it :)

Here's the Wiki url:  They are doing a very good job recently with the Wiki...especially when you consider the constant changes in the game.

Conditions for obtaining maximum GS:

  • Turret/Hull: M3; Max micro-upgrades
  • Paint: Maximum rarity "Legendary"
  • Skin: Equipped, on a turret and hull
  • Module: Equipped; Max micro-upgrades
  • Drone: Equipped; Max micro-upgrades
  • Shot Effect: Equipped
  • Supplies: Each consumable is no lesser than 300 (excluding Gold Boxes).

So far, no one has explained to me why paint and skin has anything to do with anything. MUs are more important in determining strength and power of a tank and a better calculator of the tank I'm up against. I could care less about how many hours the enemy played to get the XT skin and Legendary paint or how much money they have to waste on a game just to get a perfect GS on a main combo.

If I were a Warrior on a battlefield, would all the bells (that don't ring), whistles (that don't work), bangle, beads and tassels hanging from my armor and the rarity of the of the color make me a better fighter? Will all that put fear into the eyes of the enemy? I think not. Although, they may die from laughing.

Of course, skins and drones (nearly forgot about those). But alterations? Idk if those would make any difference...

Alterations shouldn't make a difference. I can't have any objective data on that because every 9999 GS tanker I've seen was using an alteration for their turret.

Thank you :D , I didn't really know you were going to post it, so I felt the need to make things more clear by showing that table from the wiki.

Considering alterations, they're definitely not included in the GS score. Alterations merely change the style of gameplay for a turret, and do not influence the overall strength of it. (duplet, uranium, and compact tanks beg to differ though).

I feel that people who vote useless, are just ptw's no need to look, aka noobs, and casual players.

I actually use GS to tell how much of a buyer they really are LOL

Just because YOU like it does not make it a useful stat.  Tells you someone has a high number - so what...

It's a combination of many factors - not knowing any of those individually is of very little help.

GS should be for how much power your shot is (without the use of drugs), and how much damage you can take (also without the use of drugs). Give a punch, take a punch. That's all you need. You think flowers on Mike Tyson's trunks is going to give him more punching power? Adding skins and paints to the gear score is just turning this game into a fashion show.

I don't think it's useless...at least, for the lower ranks. I have an idea as to how powerful their tank is based on their GS. If they have 4,000 GS at WO2, that means they have an M2 Combo with 300 of every supply protection modules. If they're around 3,000 at that rank, I suspect that their equipment is maybe halfway or almost M2 with two of their supply counts under 300.

All those darn M2 Freezes I see in the Warrant Officer ranks run around have 4k-5k GS. They most likely upgraded their Hunter and Viking M1's to M2's and their Freezes to M3's.

In the mid-ranks, it is kind of a wide gap but someone with 6k GS is usually an M2 10/10 player with M2 protection modules.

In the high ranks, I assume that if your GS is above 8,500, you have M4 equipment with M3 modules. I see some M3 players with 6k GS and I wonder if they even have any supplies to use.

Anyone above 9,000 GS, you must be an M4 combination with a drone of some sort.

This is actually very helpful.  I've never really bothered with GS since it just seemed trivial, but I may try using it in conjunction with your analysis.

It's what you have on. Skins, legendary paint, fully MUed drone, protections, and M4 tank.

Plus no less than 300 supplies each.

it is hard to get 9999 score if you are not lucky enough/ or dead hard enough in challenger to have XT skin, shot effect, and animated paint,

that is pure luck or super hard work if you are not a buyer,

lucky on my legend acc, I got XTs for my main combo when you can get XT from old super mission, and when you can buy XT at 500k with premium activated.

then I got first and only animated paint, when they introduce simple mission chain in mobile version launch, and a shot effect from a container opening.

-------------------------

even with all those luck, my drone still 5 steps from M4 drone after 800k crystal spent during each sale event, 25%.30% and rarely 50% sale. and waiting 200 days of MU progress without speedup.

lol, at least tanki now doing MU sale at every 2week interval, make free player like me still can get 9999 score.

m4 combo is relative easy compared to m4 drones, as every year, I can 2 combo to M4.

The only purpose of GS is to hide people with max MUed equipment.

Doesn't really do that much. Definitely not as easy to spot back when it showed the direct number of upgrades, but maxed equipment is on the extreme end of the spectrum and can be noticed easily with GS.

After 4 month since above post, I reached 9999 as non-buyer

started since 2012, and got M3 again in 2013, Micro-upgrade through M4 till 2015,

then got XT mission in 2015 for hornet, rail and bought XT viking in garage for 500k in 2016.

bought new alternative in 2016 and build M4 protection all to 50%,

bought new drone in 2018, and got lucky shot effect in container, and got only animated paint from mobile challenge, which it is the only easy challenge I can finish and get a animated paint.

then finished M4 drone in 2019.

and make it Finally 9999 as a non-buyer now
