And what were the rank brackets in "the old days"?

Back in the day after the rebalance WO5's could play with Generalissimo's, those rank brackets were common as well. I mean your K/D was bad, but all those crystal boxes just made up for it...

Was a rhetorical question - I knew the spread was bad.

 

Thing is - it's not just about collecting crystals. 

If the game play is bad (getting obliterated by much higher ranks) then it is no longer fun.

If the game is no longer fun, people will stop playing.

Even now - the game feels more like a chore than fun.  Player pool is shrinking in part because of that.

Even now - the game feels more like a chore than fun. 

Is repetitiveness a cause of that? Because personally thats how I feel. Back in the day almost every battle felt different, I don't know how but it just did. Now they all more the less feel the same. Everything feels as if it's 'structured' or has to be strategical when it never used to feel like that.

Maybe repetitiveness has something to do with it.

 

I feel "forced" to do the missions.  May sound odd but...

- If you don't do missions in MM you will fall behind wrt peers income-wise.  Per rank, you need to "keep up with the Joneses"

 

- Many of the missions are repetitive - "finish 5 battles in DM".  Same day I would need to do 5 missions of a battle-mode that just becomes a mosh-pit.  problem is... I switch that and get another DM mission or a worse one like capture 3 or 4 flags.

- because of the Star challenges, the way many players approach battles is different.  Getting high# stars is more important than winning the battle.  Players concentrate on individual goals at the expense of team-oriented goals.

 

Players "grind" to complete missions and collect stars.  The short nature of the battle makes all battles seem the same, regardless of map.

 

And the OverDrives.. again... lead to repetitiveness.  Strive for OD. Use it.  repeat. Over and over.  was better when you had only 1 or 2 OD per battle.

I liked it back in 2015 - 2016... Even though my profile says "member since Aug 2018", I've actually been playing for longer... But it re-set my acc because I stopped playing for awhile... Anyway, back then battles were more fun (in my point of view), because, like wolverine848 and Nicola_M said, "Every one is concentrating more on the challenges, and the maps are always the same". I liked it when everyone was concentrating on winning the battles... I also liked the longer gold box drop time. Now I rarely get them because someone catches them before I know where they are. Back then you could actually concentrate on capturing that flag you had, instead of dropping it and looking for the gold. Now every update makes tanki more inactive. All my friends are inactive, too.

Actually it starts the day you enter the Forum so for someone who never logged into the forum but have been playing the game for 5 years or even more...still it won't show that. So if you started playing the game 7 years ago and today is the first day you log in on the forum then it will show ''member since today'' for example so the ''member since'' part just shows/tells the first day you entered the Forum and not when you started playing the game.

Depends on how much you lose by.

 

You are correct that final score does not affect division of spoils as much as it used (or currently in Pro-battles)

However, if you are on losing side of a blow-out, chances are you did not score much regardless of how good you are.
