X2 hackers.

They never did anything about the Striker lock-on hack.

And nothing against the speed hack.

This is by far the most Absurd Turret you guys thought of. Not only is it far more superior to both thunder and Shaft. It's also surprisingly cheap. Paired with DD. it can become unstoppable. A fast reload time paired with extreme damage makes it way too overpowered. compared to (M0) thunder, it can deal 2420 Damage in 10 seconds (using both sniper and normal mode), whereas Thunder can only cause 1670 in the same amount of time. As well as infinite range in sniper mode, an M0 Gauss can instantly one shot an M3 light tank with Double Damage. You can't even see the shot coming. Sneaking with this turret is just ridiculous, you can one shot anyone in your path without them even noticing (those ear things are barely visible to me). Could you guys at least nerf the damage to make it suitable with it's reload time. This turret is basically Shaft with a 2 second reload time. Combine it with Viking's OD and it gets even worse.

You are ignoring the mechanics of it.  It's not just comparing damage numbers and reload.

Have you ever fired an arcade shot from Gauss?  It's slow, and somewhat parabolic.  You can actually see the shell as it travels.  Thunder is instant.

FYI... m0 shaft on DD can do 3300 in one shot.  How long does that take?  And that 3300 kills an m4 medium tank.

How do you figure it is shaft with 2 second reload time?

I did exaggerate a bit. Although it is really annoying to play against drugger sweeping through your team using this gun. The Damage is just a bit too much IMHO. The M3 Arcade shot deals 730 Damage in about 1.7 seconds. Non-Instant Travelling bullets aren't even much of a problem since the bullets don't really travel slowly. Perhaps a better nerf would be removing the Auto Aim and Lock-on. I wouldn't even mind the damage and reload if the skill-roof was raised somehow.

Thunder is a lot more simple to use than Gauss btw.

During testing, the Garage preview for the Gauss turret looks like this:

gauss_Friedrich-Gauss.png

Can you guess who that is?

The ultimate chance for a bunch of nine year olds to use reverse image search and sound super duper smart.

Gauss is supposed to be a sniper turret. You're not supposed to be able to see a sniper, are you? If you use Shaft really well, and you hide the laser behind a wall or something, then as your target comes into view, boom, you snipe them. Gauss does the same, just without the laser, and of course, the shots are different.

If it is supposed to be a sniper turret, then it probably shouldn't have that much damage per second. It's an automatic loss if you're playing against a guy with Titan + Gauss. Even if he isn't a drugger. even if you could evade the arcade shots, the instant lock-on shot would probably end you, I'd like to see someone try knocking off the aim of a Titan. The lock on bullets travel instantly. So you can't really dodge. And the Lock on Time is just too short for even a wasp to react and get to cover. Even if they manage that. the Splash Damage will take care of them.

Clearly you haven't met camping shafts. They do nothing but sit comfortably in their base with a double damage supply always ready and they can oneshot ANYTHING from anywhere, with no warning but the laser, which only appears when they sit there for too long (Fully charged or nearly). There have been times where I needed to stay behind cover for over 20 seconds or until an unfortunate team mate falls victim to it because there's no way out from the instant death unless you're an heavy hull with double armor. And overupgraded ones can still kill that anyway.

Or I also guess you haven't met the alterations of railgun, where they can be as mobile as they want and all of a sudden poof! Your medium/light hull is blown up. Don't even need to lock on.

Compared to these monsters gauss is a mere nuisance.

I don't often do this, but I'm in the mood.

So, first off, Shaft sucks. Nowadays you've got Magnum to get rid of them in an instant. But you really can't complain when you get one-shotted by one though, because in the end of the day, it's a flippin' sniper turret man, it's meant to one-shot you. If you hate Shafts, use one. I don't know about everyone else out there, but whenever I feel like a turret is overpowered and can just kill anything with ease, I try switching to that turret myself, because why wouldn't I, only to figure out two minutes into using it that some skill is actually required to make a kill with said turret.

Shaft isn't soooo easy to use if you try it out. You get hit and knocked around by enemies, not matter how much health you got on your fatty Mammoth, or how good your camping spot it. You need skill.

As a side note, this could just me a result of my inactivity in the game, but for as long as I can remember, the laser thing is on at all times while the Shaft is in sniping mode, clear and direct. The only thing a Shaft can do to hide his scope from your eyes is to hide it behind a barrier of some sort, which might be what you're talking about. But yeah, it's always there, and it's quite the warning, so don't give me any of that "Oooh it's so surprising and unfair!" The only thing I hate about lasers is when you see a laser pointed at you and as a result flip out, thinking you're gonna die only to figure out that it's a Striker who's trying to tag your panicking tank. You should've been here back in the old days, when Shafts had no lasers at all; now that's over-powered!

And then you brought up Railgun. Why? Just why? Railgun needs skill man, especially in these crazy free-for-all battles when you just get pounded by Thunder, Smoky and Twins shots before you can even make a single shot, not to mention the Freeze's of the game who's favourite thing to do is watch you with you'll Almighty Powerful Railgun try to turn around to get a single hit, while they twirl around you like a figure skater and freeze you to death before you know it... So much for "mobile Railgun".

The game, in my opinion (I love how I say that when I literarily haven't played in months), is actually pretty balanced as of right now. Things seem pretty diverse with every combo having its set of pros and cons, yet while still needing skill to be good with. There's no ultimate combo where you just sit and kill without ever being killed. If you seem to be falling victim to such experiences, thereby making you believe that such is the case, it my just be because you aren't that good at the game. I know, because I suck too.

And just so we're clear here — don't be confused by my avatar — I'm no helper admin developer, I'm just a schmuck, and what I'm doing isn't harassment or provocation, it's just schmuck-ing. Have a good one!

This is one of the sillier comments I see every now and then.

You make it sound like everyone has the most updated m-level of every turret in their garage and can just pull it out at a moments notice.

And since many don't have it in their garage, why would they spend hard-earned crystals on a turret if they don't like it?

Use it on an alt.

I agree with the point, I thought Shaft would be extremely easy to use, but when I tried it on an alt, I barely managed to get 70 points.

I've tried it at m2 vs m3-4s and it still gets good scores, but I dislike giving my opponents no chance to retaliate.

Plus 90% of the camping shafts I see top the scoreboards because kills are so easy to get when nobody can get to you alive (Which means you must snipe them yourself).

And I was there, I started playing before 2011.

I'm basically maining railgun man because striker is pretty horrible without uranium. I'm oneshotting people left and right! I've killed mid range turrets while being in their face with this supposed sniper! I top nearly all scoreboards unless I'm having a bad aim day like yesterday evening

And I roam where I want with it because my dictator is m3. Sure thunder is annoying, but that's because I don't have grizzly at a decent mod.

Yes it has splash damage. Check the Wiki about the turret parameters (including splash damage details): https://en.tankiwiki.com/Gauss

Good for camping with Hornet, not so much if you're trying to accomplish something in team battles, like caping flags or scoring goals.

They need to give less points for killing in team battles, except in TDM, to discourage camping and TDMing in team battles.

Camping is badly rewarded as it is.

Because it seems to be good, at least according to the description given... They only dislike it because they're getting killed by it; I wouldn't dislike a turret which got me easy kills. My point was that no turret is like that, you need skill for any combo. Also, I was speaking hypothetically; of course not everyone has M4 everything, but I was only trying to convey the message that if you are under the impression that a particular turret is overpowered, see how untrue that is by testing out the turret yourself. I'm not specifically telling you to use it, I'm merely guaranteeing you that if you do, you'll see that it's not so easy to use.

OK - my bad.  I interpreted it as "if you can't beat'em, join'em".  Where everyone uses the same turret as it's OP.

My apologies.
