Garage description:

Heavy hull. Remains stable even when driving under fire. Its overdrive shoots a projectile that attacks enemy tanks with lightning and heals allies.

The hovertank «Ares» became the first hull with an anti-gravity feature. The impressive weight and proportions of the first-generation antigravs predetermined the «Ares» entry into the heavy hulls category. The anti-gravity effect of the engine keeps the hull in a stable position, compensating for uneven surfaces and recoil when firing. To turn the hovertank in a battle, you need to try really hard. The uncompromising stability of «Ares» made it possible to build in a super-powerful weapon, which could not be used on other hulls: for prototypes, the first shot simply tore off the turret. Tankers say that this is the very same BFG-cannon. We do not know what they are talking about, but just in case, we ask you not to share this information.

It certainly seems interesting but I am in general against the idea of new hulls because I just feel that unless they pull something crazy (hovering in this case), it would be too similar to the other hulls, and I want the game to stay simpler instead of adding these new mechanics.

Well, it's pretty obvious what's gonna happen with both. They're gonna make them OP (Gauss right now) - even if they don't though, everyone will still buy it - then they're gonna nerf it to the ground. Wasted crystals on it and it's protection module.

I wouldn't consider Gauss OP right now.

In the high ranks, it's more powerful, but so is the protections against it.

Maybe... I haven't tried it yet. But still, everyone is buying it :P

Is there going to be any new news on Ares for June 14?

I sure hope so.

We only know the basics of it, we don't know how fast it'll be, how much it weighs, how far off the ground it'll hover, how fast it'll turn or accelerate.

They said that it's a heavy hull so that already (somewhat) answers the first two questions. They also said that it slides to the side instead of turning. That's gonna be rather hard to maneuver. Maybe they'll give it the option to rotate the hull when it's stationary.

We don't know if it'll be as heavy as the other heavy hulls or lighter than say dictator, same can be said for the speed.

That's what I meant.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "somewhat". We have something to work with.

From how it looks, it doesn't look like it'll weight a lot. And it looks like it may be the fastest heavy hull. That makes sense given its new mechanic.

Well The only thing I'm concerned about is the price of the new hull.

That'll depend on its rank unlock.

I didn't expect M2 Gauss to be so cheap, yet there it is, and its statistics match that.

I'm predicting that Ares' M1 rank unlock would be , M2 would be either or

In my opinion, we do not need a new hull.

Also, why name it Ares? It doesn't fit into the current name system for hulls:

  • Light hulls are named after insects (Wasp, Hornet).
  • Medium hulls are named after human occupations (Hunter, Viking, Dictator).
  • Heavy hulls are named after words that describe something of massive size or quantity (Mammoth, Titan).

If it were up to me, I would name the new hull Goliath, or Colossus.

I agree that a new hull isnt needed. Currently the hulls fills any strategy type you might want. How is a hovering hull something that does something different? The appeal to TO is not weird combos, but rather the ability to perfect any strategy in battle that you want.

Well , here's my take . You basically got 3 hulls , since the strength of each type ( light /medium heavy ) is the same . There are small changes in other features but they are not enough to take something else , within same category .

For example : a medium hull user would have never ever switched to hunter or dictator , since he had mediium hull allready . Same with the light and heavy hulls .

So , then they invented the individual OD , which made it interesting again to change your hull , even in the same category . The dictators stats are the worst of the mediums , so nobody used them anymore . Now with the OD , in some battleformats , it is a must have in team ( pro / only drop drugs ) .This makes people buy the other hulls

So whats now happening next ... even new hulls , same stats , but in order to attract more people  to buy it , they gonna make its OD very usefull in some battles .

This way i expect a lightweight hull also to enter the game within a y .

It might make the mobile port playable for those of us with massive thumbs.

This just made my whole day!

That being said...idk if we want more heavy hulls lumbering around. Of course I don't want another medium hull, but perhaps another fast tactical hull might offer some diverse gameplay. I suppose we will see

I just want them to upgrade the game, rather than adding useless little updates. There's so many things that could be improved, rather than just adding to the problem.

I understand you have to make money - but sometimes as a company the going has to get tougher before it gets better.

Ares is a flying hull, but what would be the difference between it and a normal ground hull? Do some shots miss it because it's in the air? (I don't know, just a random guess) Will it never tip over? :o Just a few thoughts...

I think maybe the developers could make it able to change the height of it floating  :) . (Unless that's already done)
