That happens to reduce friction between the ground and the tank, so I'd expect a speed increase. Or a weaker engine.

It's a heavy hull.

of course, i get that, but i'd expect it to be a tad faster than titan and mammoth, given that it is hovering versus driving through the maple syrup terrain

Tanki is already on life support but this hull would be the final nail in the coffin. Ares users would simply equip magnum, get on top of buildings and lob bombs down all game long.

If it's any faster than 7.0 then they made a huge mistake since Titan only goes 6.50.

How would it do that? It can't fly.  Probably travels ~ 3 feet off the ground.

I believe ghost-guns is basing his conclusion on AV Gamers' video where a fan model of Ares is used.

Should the real Ares be released with the same behavior as in the video, then I reckon it'd be like opening Pandora's Box as the devs will surely be tempted to make Light and Medium flying hulls with more maneuverability than the current hulls.

Yes that's right, it goes on top of buildings. Also the hull could potentially hover above the line of fire of a firebird, freeze or isida.

This video is totally misleading, don't take it as a reference. Stop imagining OP stuff that are not reasonable.
The hull will stay above the ground. Imagine the hunter without the tracks and wheels, it looks like it floats, same for Ares.

I guess something in that line, look at how they did it for Magnum, Stiker and Gaus, there is a pattern. This process is mainly to bring cash to Tanki.
Youtubers is for advertising of the product and Tankoins is for sailing it. Bundles and product kits in Tankoins, together or one after another. After a time available in the garage and later product kits with crystals. RIch buyers would buy crystals to upgrade it as fast as possible. Then there would be a XT skin, then more skins in challenges or special containers or bundle. Then more hull augments. Expect the full package.

Then expect another light hull, ...

Last I heard, it was the ability to shoot through walls. And that was a whole year ago. So plans might've changed since then.

What Diesel says, developers mentioned it will shoot a certain type of projectiles that could travel through walls. Last time they discussed Ares OD, they explained that Ares will make use of new visuals (and props) for the projectiles compared to the current ones, tending to look and be more realistic (cant find the v-log in which they showed this). Because of their reveal of this, I assume they will stick to this idea since implementing new visuals is in an extent game-changing.

Test server version doesn't trigger mines! Needs to make physical contact with mines to take damage

It has good speed (for a heavy hull) but rotation speed is abysmal.

Overdrive is garbage. Deals 99 damage per tick when close to enemies and explodes after sometime. Also heals yourself and allies

It's overdrive was originally supposed to go through walls. I guess they scrapped that idea.

can't see them implementing this in actaul battles - way too big an advanatage - a free spider module with double effect?  Don't see it.

Besides - the fans lifting the tank off the ground would generate enough downward force to set off the mines.

As far as I could conclude from the test-servers, here are my findings:

- It does trigger mines occasionally, but not always. I guess this is a glitch since developers stated that Ares will be affected by mines

- It does not work that different on space maps compared to normal maps, despite decreased gravitational force. Ares is, however, a very stable hull and it is extremely hard to be flipped over under most circumstances, so you are most likely to land on your tracks (unless you are exposed to heavy impact-forces/recoil)

- Ares is heavier than Titan (4000 mass-units), but because Ares hovers its frictional force is absent. So it does experience recoil. 

- Ares is a heavy hull

- Unless you are using the RGC augment, Magnum functions very oddly on Ares. You turn your hull with the ZXC/<>?-keys and Magnum relies on these keys to aim vertically. When using z or x, your tank will turn to the corresponding directon as well as lowering/raise your barrel. So if you click Z, you will turn to the left and your barrel lowers; clicking on X and your tank will go right and raise its barrel. 

 

EDIT: if you use mouse controls, you are able to correct your direction your tank is facing. So if you used z/x to change the height of your barrel, you can use your mouse controls to correct the direction of your tank

 

- WIth its OD, you fire an explosive projectile with heavy damage and a large splash radius. Upon contact with an entity, the projectile explodes. Also, while the projectile is travelling through the air, everyone within a certain range of the projectile will receive a slight amount of damage constantly. 

- In the test-server, it is obtainable in the garage. Although not certain, its very likely to be avaiable in the garage once released

Overdrive explodes on hitting walls. Deals 4000+ damage to nearby tanks including self.
