Overdrive explodes on hitting walls. Deals 4000+ damage to nearby tanks including self.

Guess we'll have to see what it's actually like.

Also, it is very weak against freeze(especially shock freeze) since it can't turn it's turret. It will become nearly 100% immobile.

Wut do you mean?   Only magnum should have that problem....

At least freeze players can enjoy torturing them...

Against freeze, not with freeze. I guess getting your Ares frozen would terribly restrict movement.

Would have been great if Laptops had cooling fans similar to Ares, that make it chill and levitate at the same time.

playing it with freeze would be just as hard... or irritating. You can’t circle strafe.

Conclusion: Ares will only work well with medium-long range turrets. Maybe Firebird. Freeze, Magnum [stock] are a nope.
It's good overall. The controls are a bit weird at first. Might get used to it if I use it long enough.

I was responding to this part   "very weak against freeze(especially shock freeze) since it can't turn it's turret. It will become nearly 100% immobile. "

Why can't you turn your turret on Ares?

Why can't you turn your turret on Ares?

The turret turn buttons are the same as the "Turn ares" ones, so they get overridden. You can turn with mouse controls, but after you die and respawn the turret's stuck and doesn't anymore. And with that insanely sluggish turn speed? No chance to use anything mid ranged.

You technically can circle strafe with mouse controls...But it's too slow.

Why?  Why would they re-map those keys?  What are the standard movement keys being used for?

Let me guess... < = left strafe?,  > = right strafe?

And veterans used to make fun of players that couldn't turn their turrets.  LOL.

Now ares doesnt feel like its hovering and the turning system isnt the best either.
So, maybe make the hover hull more hovery?
This is quite old video when i was adding ares to my project.
I dont mean make it excatly like i did, but somewhat like it

Nope. It can circle strafe. Quite well actually, considering it is a heavy hull. It just doesn't do it the normal way. You have to face the target and move sideways.

Yeah. Arrow keys control the hull like it is a helicopter. Right Arrow moves the hull right without turning the direction.

And the turret rotation keys turn the hull and turret as one piece.

It’s hopeless

I gave up with it and tried equipping a Mk8 Hunter (also tried Wasp) so that I could literally drive in circles around these slow hulls that can’t turn their turrets, but the test server only allowed me to do damage with Ares

I think ares should have following features:

- should be a smaller and square shaped

- no turning for hull ever, only movement in 4 directions

- independent turrets movement, since this is the biggest problem with current ares

- OD fires in direction of turret. there is no need for a giant hole for OD its not firing a projectile

so u can turn th turrert with ares?

Nope, not really. In testing stage, the turret can not turn, instead here are the controls:

Forward key: Forward

Backward key: Backward

Right key: Tank hovers to right, but does not turn

Left key: Tank hovers to left, but does not turn left

Z key: Tank turns left (rotates)

X key: Tank turns right (rotates)

This is in testing stage and changes may or may NOT be made.

Ares appears to be a fairly balanced hull as is (it is both unique, but also offers a good amount of protection in proportion to its speed). I think it would be heavily unbalanced to have Ares hover any higher than it already does, as changing the height it hovers at would have several negative effects:

  • The hull could legitimately drive over the top of some props, which would lower the amount of cover other Players have
  • Players would have to constantly "swing" their turret to hit people using this hull, which is nearly impossible with turrets such as Vulcan (by swinging your turret, a couple of shots will hit, but not enough to make an impact)

We already have no clue how mines will impact this tank, but I will assume it will go one of these two ways:

  • The user will be able to completely ignore mines, driving right over the top of them
  • The mines will do damage when being driven over, but not have an impact on the hull's drive/flight path

If either of the two above circumstances occur, this would already be severely powerful in itself, and tweaking this system to make the hull less powerful in this regards would be much higher of a priority than increasing one of its features to solely be overpowered.
