Tweaks to the balance of Overdrives and Gauss, and more

hello, I have a detail, since I entered the gauss turret sometimes you do not hear your own weapon, or listening if you do not know if the fire is firing or not, thank you for the game

Striker n its all alts are balanced? So yeah powerful.

I have a far better time using railgun rather than striker... I'm only hoping uranium changes that. Else my nickname would be a joke.

By balanced, do you mean obtaining around the same number of score as its Stock counterpart on average?

 

 

Hunter: Yes

 

Cyclone: Almost yes

 

Uranium: No (it gets more)

 

Remote Rocket Explosives: Yes

 

 

And why should it be powerful? Why can't it be balanced? I'd say that you'd want a powerful alteration because you're clearly having fun with the turret. I don't want to see more battle-deciding alterations in the game.

I really think they overnerfed Mammoth's Overdrive. Not only is the duration half as long, or the delay in the damage for some Mammoth players, but you also don't receive any charge during the Overdrive. 

 

I had assumed that there was just a brief window at the end of it where you earn charge for doing actions, but that wasn't the case. You get nothing if you waste it and you get nothing if you actually do actions. I'm expecting a buff in the near future. I'm too vulnerable to mistakes and players with medium hulls still outrun me because of the difference in top speed. 

 

And since it's 5 seconds now, I have to get in closer to the enemies, which would prompt them to take me out with ranged turrets, Wasp's Overdrive or Hunter's Overdrive.

 

Another thing that really dulls its usefulness in Assault is that you only need one player to sacrifice themself and the Mammoth can be killed because the tank's carcass would block its path and that's valuable seconds of the already short Overdrive wasting. I had that happen to me twice yesterday.

I've been lucky a few times and caught multiple tanks in close proximity for a dual-kill.  But more often-than-not it's a one-and-done.

 

Unlike... Hornet or Viking or from what I've seen wasp bomb near flags...

 

Not sure what Devs have in mind as the role of the Mammoth OD.  Extremely short range + very short duration. I basically save it for close-in-defense (a la CIWS) against melee turrets that try to ambush my Vulcan.  But that's a pretty limited scope of usefulness.

I like the changes to Highways.

 

I don't like how badly the Mammoth was nerfed.  With only 5 seconds it is essentially a useless OD.  The dome of protection OD lasts such a long time,  I don't think the mammoth OD should have been rendered nearly useless.

I think Hornet overdrive need to be faster.

 

i only think coz i havent tested it in higher ranks so i dont know if its OP or not but in lower ranks its not good at all.

 

i hope they for example make its time to reach 100% faster by ... lets say by 10% for example :)

 

again i have not tested it in higher ranks so other players may think im wrong and other may not. thanks : D

Protection modules in higher ranks are more significant - maxing out at 50%.  The ability to bypass these modules at higher ranks makes the Hornet OD very potent.  The fact it lasts a long time means that multiple kills can be made, especially with long-range turrets or turrets with lots of splash damage.

i know its OP in high ranks already :), but in low ranks m0 m1 and even m2 are quite weak.

 

ok i wont discuss this here anyway.

However, after the update, it does not burn unless press the enemy.
In addition, the effective time of the overdrive was reduced by half, making it extremely difficult to use.

Yup - they've changed the mechanics.  You need a full second of contact with enemy or they will survive.

 

So they cut duration in half AND removed the proximity damage.

True , but before the OD was OP and totally unstoppable , which made it very annoying in some games ( like RGB ) . It still is quite a attack stopper , or a attacker but now the enemy can hold on long enough to get past the OD .

All you needed to stop it was a Wasp but players didn't play with Wasps. Hunter could do the trick as well and they used to do the trick back when it was 10 seconds. 

 

But a lack of Wasps made the Overdrive more threatening. If there were more Wasps, most likely, things may have been in check more or less.
