What am I missing?

I thought only Isida and Thunder were unlocked at Brigadier? 

Then perhaps hornet was the rank after, which I don't remember the name of lol

 

However, I'm not too fond of hornet... It's far too squishy and it's not satisfying at all to play.

I love Hornet's drifting. If an enemy makes me turn a full 100 degrees due to impact force, I'll just start to accelerate forward (because I usually drive backwards with my hulls) and turn to be 180 again. It's a great tactic when I want to make a getaway while keeping as much traction as possible. And the Overdrive makes it a great asset to a team. I do wish it was M4 though. Me having 200 HP less than other Hornets really shows itself when going up against those strong turret -alteration combos.

By that do you mean that you'll turn your in the direction that the enemy made you turn? Or that you'll just go behind cover and correct your direction?

Started playing again after a 9 month hiatus. I hardly recognize the game now. After reading up on drones and Overdrives I feel like I have a clue on what is going on, but wow the game play is totally different now. It seems like it is almost impossible to go 30 seconds without being destroyed. Even lower ranks are taking me out in short order. Is that they way the game just is now? I would expect having M3-M4 equipment with ample supplies should allow me to at least have a 1:1 kill ratio, but that isn't the case. So it begs the question - What am I missing???

Even I have returned after a long time. The last time I played was during the First War. TO sure has changed a lot since then and the new Gauss is also a pain to deal with. Just play MM battles for some time. Try to start with a combo you are positive to get a good score with. Try all the overdrives and take your time with drones. Everything will work out just fine.

As I continue to play there are a few things I am noticing. First, drugs have become cheap due to crystal inflation. A tanker can earn a ton of supplies through completing missions and obtaining containers. Second, there is a lot more tank destruction going on. Lighter hulls are easily done in with one shot. This has increased the variety of hulls being used, but is still frustrating if you have invested in a lighter hull. Lastly, drones are way OP. I am saving to get one and see how it impacts my game, but so far those with drones are able to dominate a match immensely.

One other observation. Matchmaker sucks giant monkey balls. I keep being placed in matches where people are equipped in such a way that I have no way to compete. It is ridiculous. I have no idea what the programmers are thinking, but they are freaking wrong. There is ZERO balance with MM.

My friend, the advice I can give to you, run while you can this game is no longer our game this game has become for buyers only  Sometimes I play Parkour to Improve my skills on it when I enter I find a legend that puts lots of mines to kill the players of the other team to raise his K/D kills hundreds of low-ranking players who run away Of the game after no one cares about it no one called this cheat. It's all important that they have to buy so much drugs even if they will spoil the fun of the game they cheap even dont drop gold for them All this tells you that the game has lost the point run while you can

I am about at that point. It is unfortunate that I have a Hornet that is pretty worthless now. Every turret can kill it in either 1 shot or in seconds (fire, freeze, isida). The protections that come with drones and drugs make the game too unbalanced and not very fun. All of the strategy that I remember is gone. It has been replaced with people just mashing buttons to engage whatever supplies they have and just destroying. I spend more time respawning than actually playing, and that is with ranks below me. Most of the time MM places me with legends and I end up with at best a 1:10 K/D. I think I will play through this weekend and be done. When the game is more frustrating than fun it is time to move on.

Good job screwing up a good thing Tanki.

Ye... Ik how you feel. Everyone is just buying now and it's like "play to die, not to win". It really sucks... And the gold box 10 second drop sucks now... 2/3rds of the time someone gets it before I know where it even is. I liked the old times when the golds took like a minute to drop... I know that my profile says "member since Aug 2018", but I've been playing for much longer... It just re-set my account

Don't even bother using hornet if you aren't going to camp, the overdrive benefits camp guns the most and it doesn't survive anything. Use medium/heavy hulls to fit your rico and hammer.

I found that it benefitted mid-range turrets and Railgun the most.

Why do ppl always say hornet is trash? You are never supposed to take on heavier hulls head on with hornet/wasp. With hammer for example, you can cover a lot of ground quickly and get a ton of firepower on the enemy. When I play freeze with hornet, I try to never engage a bunch of enemies from the front, but will rather try to get around behind them. Now with the overdrive, an ambushing hornet player can clear out a bunch of heavier hulls very quickly.

Maybe because all the hornets that get good scores or do well in battles are camping ones? Ambushing is not always possible, are you suggesting they sit behind cover until an enemy comes in case the map isn't fit for them?

 

There are railguns that can oneshot viking m3.5 with 33% protection, an hornet has no chance at all.

A good Wasp/Hornet player is very sneaky...Stealth-like. They seem to come out of nowhere. I rarely see any of them hiding behind anything. Because of their stealth and speed, they can pick and choose their enemy. I use Vulcan/Titan and get attacked by them with Firebird and Freeze quite often. I've attacked Wasp and Hornet head on and I lost because of their protection. Both Vulcan and Titan are M2 10/10.

They don't even need a turret - not shooting makes them more stealthy.  Just drop the bomb and run.

That doesn't matter if you can't do it in every map MM throws you in. And any railgun will OHKO you from nowhere anyway. Heck I've had 80% of my HP go away in 1 shot on a titan m2 with 41% rail defense! Just now.

The biggest advantage with the faster hulls is that you get to pick your battles. Ive tried titan but always stop after a while bc I cant pick who I want to fight. I fight whoever is in my way. With hornet/wasp, you get to roam until you want to strike. As a freeze/hammer hornet player lately, if I see a freeze/hammer with viking, I always run and stay away...at least until their drug run out and then I strike

M4 Destabilisation Railgun has the potential to one-shot an M3 0/20 Titan with 35% Railgun protection. It's a miniscule chance but its a chance nonetheless.

I am finding that Thunder is damn near useless. I just got done pounding a M3 Wasp with 39% protection and didnt get a kill after 3 shots damn near point blank. It appears TO has nerfed the old guns to push buyers into the new garbage they are putting out that overlaps the old guns everyone has invested in. No wonder so many people have quit playing. Stupid developers...

I own an M1 Thunder that's like 5/20 or some such, it can 4 shot other M1 medium hulls just fine without protections. W/ protections it only takes 2 shots extra, tops. But that's 25% not 40%.

If your Thunder is M3 (650-900 damage), point-blank-range shots does not equal getting damage close to 900. You deal a random number of damage within that damage range. Don't expect to deal damage on the higher end of the damage spread by getting up in their face. And the guy has 39% protection. Most likely that person had M4 Wasp. You have M3 Thunder which is less than M4 Thunder. You can't expect to take that down in 2 shots, then players without protection against Thunder wouldn't survive. 

 

Try Thunder with Hornet and see if you notice a difference. Its Overdrive, along with Sledgehammer Rounds (if you have it), is a beast and can demolish defences and grouped enemies quickly. And you can take a look at the past Patch Notes to see the changes in each of the turrets you think were nerfed to push buyers into buying the new stuff.

It becomes unstoppable once you buy sledgehammer. I score well (top 3 score well) with that and dictator m1 1/10 on my 4 star account :lol:

So I have noticed that Match Maker is totally broken. Typically dumps me into battles with Legends and even when it doesnt it is maybe 1 out of 10 matches that is competitive between the teams. Not sure why the devs keep on working on other turrets/hulls when there are basic issues with game play that make too many of the matches a waste of time.

Another is Magnum. I stopped playing shortly after it was released. It was an interesting turret that had a unique dynamic about it, but it would not sway a battle. It seems now that Magnum is out of place in the game. Perhaps players have realized how to use it better, but I have found that matches tend to be dominated by Magnums because of how powerful they are. Too many maps allow a player with Magnum to hide and shoot with no chance of danger themselves. The term OP is thrown around a lot, but Magnum truly is OP. Isida with self heal was no where near as powerful and game altering as Magnum is to many maps in the game.
