OD "protections"

This was posted in another topic, but I thought I'd just make it it'sown topic so people can know what they're replying to. One quick question first: what would happen if I suggested that a Gold Box be dropped every time a Dictator uses their OD?  :rolleyes:

 

So here's the idea: of course devs want to increase the game's income, and they do so by adding new things to the game so people want to buy more stuff, and therefore need more crystals. How about they add OD protections, which are placed in a different area of the garage than regular protections, and which give the following (more or less) benefits to the user:

 

Against a Hunter: Stun doesn't last as long (depending on strength of protection)

 

Against a Titan: Can deal more damage through the dome

 

Against a Hornet: Max protection inhibits the user from seeing your health bar, min protection makes the range to see it shorter

 

Against a Wasp: It's protection. Essentially the range goes down, so you can be closer to the bomb and not get killed

 

Against a Dictator: Removes freezing at max protection, makes less freezing at min

 

Against a Viking: gives additional protection against whatever turret the Viking is using, but only for the duration of the OD

 

Against a Mammoth: Not sure yet, but could possibly have the ability to deal increasing amounts of dmg against the Mammoth as the protection gets better

 

 

This was kinda on the spot. It would only be a minor annoyance for F2P or light buyers, since it only comes into play during ODs. Of course they wouldn't be called protection and tankers would have three additional slots just for "protection" against ODs.

 

 

@TheCongoSpider can give us some prices, rank unlocks, and any details that he thinks fit.

lol, I would like to see a protection against noob, that would be a winner idea.

 

Serioulsy, using the dev's lust for income in order to suggest this? Come on.

OD are F2P don't make it P2W.  ty

Since the only time you won't be seeing ODs is during first 30-60 seconds of the game, I fail to see how this is a minor annoyance.

Once the ODs first get activated they are non-stop during a battle.

 

And if costs are even a fraction of what protection modules cost - no-way-hose.

I would rather have vs hornet protection to reduce the amount of da/modules ignored, seeing a life bar isn't a big deal, getting oneshot regardless of anything you can do is.

Against a Dictator: Removes freezing at max protection, makes less freezing at min

 

Against a Viking: gives additional protection against whatever turret the Viking is using, but only for the duration of the OD (Titan OD does this)

 

Against a Mammoth: Not sure yet, but could possibly have the ability to deal increasing amounts of dmg against the Mammoth as the protection gets better (Wasp Bomb nullifies this)

 

 

 

There are already a few countermeasures in the game.

Noob idea.

 

It would only increase garage gap between buyers, cheaters and regular players. Plus, it will increase the complexity of the game and the game code.

 

The idea is so bad that devs would like to implement something like this.

 

It's funny that this came from the poster that criticizes Riddler's ideas and calls them stupid.

Ehm, proper term would be "Jose," or "ho-zay," not "hose," which is primarily either a garden implement or a tool used for fighting fires. Other uses extend to water-fights, etc. 

 

There are already a few countermeasures in the game. 

But, the majority of those are ODs combating ODs. These would be constant protections to the ODs. Looking back - it's a bad idea. As I mentioned, it was really on the spur of the moment and tbh I should have waited to post it. This was more-or-less copy-pasted from another idea in the topic, and I was thinking how to develop it into something the devs would like.

In what way, my good fellow, does adding a "Fart pump" that makes "farting noises" to "make people laugh" not increase the complexity of the game and the game code?

 

I agree - it's bad. However, you say that about this and not about the aforementioned "Fart pump"? Of course, you can't be expected to understand logic, but it should be quite obvious to everyone else that it is due to the idea creator and not to the idea itself.

 

It's so funny that this comes from a guy who informed me that people insulting others were generally doing so just to make themselves feel superior. My original reply was simply "Mirror."

Against hunter: seems kinda useless, maybe make it shorten the cool down of your supplies?

 

Against titan: maybe reduce the damage reduction against you down to about 40 to 45%.

 

Against hornet: maybe make it so that every step you MU, that's how much you have against an Overdriven hornet? (Max: 25%)

 

Against dictator: maybe make it reduce the effect of OD given double damage and double armor and mine against you? (Max: 25%)

 

Against Viking: only 25% protections max against it though.

 

Against mammoth: maybe make it deal 50% less damage to you max if it touches you?

But seriously tho, even if they somehow relase this and make purchase+upograde price low, nothing makes me play matchmaking.

I'm just criticising the idea.

 

We all play like noobs when we start and we all could come up with noob ideas that sound good and logical but if we think carefully are really bad.

 

Protection against OD.. U gotta kiddin ne... Hell no. Whats Next? Protection from campers? Bad weather?

I know right.

 

Summer protection, winter protection, night protection, alteration protections, drone protection... ( < ' That's a good idea' some will say about drone protections )

 

And then we'll need to hopefully MU 1 hull, 1 turret along with 100 other items to stay competitive.

Summer protection, winter protection, night protection,

Patch Update #559;

 

 

All maps with the "Summer Day" theme will ignite each tank for a maximum of 20% of maximum temperature. 

 

All maps with the "Winter Day" theme will freeze each tank for 30% of minimum temperature. 

 

All maps with the "Summer Night" theme will become darker.

This is why my dear friend,you don't play matchmaking.

Unless you're at a very high rank, you need to play MM.

 

I play PRO battles too and my garages are far superior than many PRO-only players because of MM. Many times I can make a losing team win all by myself, while watching this cat join and quit battles, or rage. Sometimes I drug a little or use no drones just to not be too OP to them.

 

The problem with MM is Groups and the inherent imbalance of Overdrives and Drones, but the solution is not OD protections. Instead all ODs should be nerfed. Removal would be better.

 

Luckily lately I'm seeing less Groups and it's more playable, but I play very little, except during 2X, ironically for me you see more Groups during 2X.

Your idea is not bad, but it will ruin some overdrives such as Titan's protective dome. As of now, it is possible to be killed by a Viking firing multiple Hammer shots when Viking has its own overdrive activated.

Tbh I don't really like it, however it is mainly @lssimo doing the hating, and while it looks like he's doing so because he dislikes the idea, it is very obvious that he is really "hating on" me and not the idea itself. If Riddler had posted it, @lssimo would be up-in-arms against me in defense of the idea. If someone else had posted this exact topic, I probably would say that I didn't really like it. No doubt you'll be getting a sarcastic reply from @lssimo pretty soon lol. Brace yourself.

No. It's just a bad idea. And I was just trying to make Spytank understand that something like this would be really bad for a player like her/him, as opposed to a buyer that would be even more OP.

 

Then there would be the usual Tanki business of making some ODs OP and some UP and us trying to figure out which protection to buy or MU.
