Teamwork in MM

Have you ever had an experience where you and a random player were instantly in sync, and pulled off tactics to make your team win, or make your loss less burdensome? Share it! Here's mine.

Cologne CTF. I was one of the first to spawn. I moved the camera vertically and saw the Overdrive box was one of the first boxes to fall at the start of the game. While heading for it, a Freeze shot from behind me. Now, knowing that Vulcan will not benefit as much from a very early Wasp Overdrive, than say, if it were on Dictator or Titan, I decided that the Overdrive box would go to the player if they weren't using Wasp. I turn around near the box and it was on a Hunter. I then let him take the box and went after the flag.

I stole it and the Hunter zapped the 3 enemies going after me. I then capture the flag, and went back to the middle to defend said Hunter when he took the flag next. An immediate 2-0 lead in the first minute.

Everyone then spawned in from both teams but we had better players. At the last flag to end the battle, this happened:

The enemy team came in right after the 2nd picture and almost killed us. The 2nd onslaught kill M_E_D_O and returned the flag. We then just as easily waltzed into their base, took it and captured it immediately.

GG 5-0.

I had an interesting one where I spawned early, took the flag, came back and gave it to an Isida/Wasp. Instant pet

I think I've mentioned this before, so, sorry to be redundant. Anyways, this Isida followed me around (I had Rico Hunter at the time) and sacrificed himself several times just to keep me alive (i.e., he got in the way of a Smoky firing at me when i wasn't even holding the flag). The two of us managed to cap 4 flags between us, and fortunately he spoke English (very limited, but still enough to understand Tanki terms), so we were able to cooperate who capped what. Ended up splitting it 2-2, even though he did much worse than me because I got lots of kills, so I planned to give one more to him but I was under fire so I just capped.

We're friends now, and we often join many-flag no-supply pro-battles and go together - beautiful what happens when you do a favour to someone else. Many people don't appreciate Isida's in MM, but my philosophy is to essentially always give the flag to any nearby Isida unless they're doing something like multing or talking badly on the chat.

I don't know if this is considered teamwork, but in Chernobyl rugby, there was a ball in our base so I grabbed it and threw it off the ledge where a teammate was only 5 metres away from it and driving toward it.

I think this is just a classic case of me being lazy.

Massacre CTF -  I spawned along with the a Wasp+Thunder guy, he drove towards the nuclear supply quickly but saw me (Dictator+Ricochet) following him and waited for me to take it. I in return shared the OD with him just when we reached the enemy base and protected him as much as possible, he capped that flag and we continue to attack together throughout the match.

Second time it was me.

Red Alert CTF - Our team was very very weak compared to enemy team and I knew it from the beginning. Except "that one guy" who was way above everyone's rank (Thunder+Hunter both XT) and all the other team were like sitting ducks in the base. I (Rico+Dictator) grabbed the first nuclear and quickly moved towards that guy who was in the enemy base, he was left half health I quickly shared the OD and defended him by fighting and also blocking enemy fires at him. I grabbed 2 nuclear supplies in that battle and had total of 4 or 5 overdrives and I shared all of them with him and defended him all the way.  We ended up winning 3-4. He wrote something in Russian at the end of the battle which includes my name, still have no idea what he wrote.

Oh yeah, had a RGB battle on Parma recently where one of our guys kept bashing our team for not playing as a team and not passing. I thought he was overreacting, since the pass mechanic is pretty lame and rarely useful, but at the same time I do feel his pain, since a lot of the time people prefer to keep the flag/ball until the last moment to get the EXP, instead of passing it to ensure a successful attack.

Anyway, I was carrying the ball and almost made it to the enemy base, but on the final stretch two enemies pushed me into a wall corner, leaving me no chance of capture. At the same time I see that guy driving past the enemies on his Wasp and looking at me. So I pass the ball to him, he catches it perfectly and scores a goal before he gets killed by a Magnum. That was definitely one of the smoothest teamwork moves I've ever done in a normal game.

A couple years ago there was a similar moment in another Rugby game. I was attacking with the ball on Serpuhov, but 3 or 4 enemies blocked my way right before the ball. Then I see a teammate driving up from the back, and once again I pass the ball and he catches and scores. Even the enemies complimented our teamwork there.

Honestly, this should be common sense in every battle - other hulls let Dictator take the box and the Dic in turn shares OD charge. Unfortunately not that many players realise this or care enough to make the strategy work. It's a shame that such an act is considered as "exceptional teamwork".

Yeah, that sucks. I don't usually expect that from a random player, even once  I was playing with someone was in my friends list (not anymore after that match). She literally shoved my dictator from the nuclear drop and took it. When I confronted her by saying "I could have recharged your OD plus gave you full supplies" she replied "shut up noob", never replied to her again. She was also randomly in my team a while ago, just ignored her throughout the battle.

This communication is what I'd like to see in MM battles. Even if it's in Russian, it would still be lovely to see.

They had no Hunters on their team which was great. But they had at least 3 Titans and a Shaft, which stopped one of our pushes. But those domes were just brutal. And it was just us vs like 8 of the circling us in the dome and killing us swiftly. It was still a great experience.

I think many times chatting in MM battles, even to coordinate, is not good, because there's little time and could be distracting. Sometimes I just give some commands, sometimes nothing in a whole battle.

I try to be intuitive when playing, and I always focus on the objectives, meaning I'm always looking where the flags and balls are, because most of the time your team mates are not. I fault myself when I'm attacking the enemy at their base and an enemy captures the flag, because I should have been more aware and I shouldn't have relied on my team mates too much.

ODs, if someone got there first is his out hers, unless me taking the OD is more important. With Dictator I would just push you and then share it with you, unless you don't need it, or if the OD could be more usefull somewhere else.

I've never had something specific like that since most of the time I play an indirect support role, but any time my team is just the right level of aggressive/defensive to where you can tell everyone's chipping in is the best. I wish every game was like this.

Would telling your team that the enemy Hunter just used its Overdrive be distracting? Because I usually tell my team that when there is only one Hunter on the enemy team. I try to bait it out of them, make them use it solely on me, and then tell my team "now is a good time to push".

I'm like you in this scenario. Expect I don't beat myself up about it because I can't 1 v 5 a group of players as a Hornet (my usual hull these days). And I especially can't 1 v 5 a group of enemies if I'm using Support Nanobots. I'd be lucky if I got one of them right before running out of ammo.

It's really out of your control. You're not to be held accountable for your MM team's actions. No one is. There is only so much one or two players can do against an enemy team that may as well be well-coordinated. Going solo against 8 active enemies is going to get you spawnkilled. You know better, yes, but you shouldn't see your teammates as toddlers to babysit. It's gonna stress you out and block out whatever fun you may be having or might have.

Ironically, I do have some recent screenshots named "Takin' care of the kids" which shows I alone, or a teammate and I doing most of the work, trying to secure victory for us.

If this is a response to the player saying "I think u be first with od", then it had nothing to do with the Nuclear Supply. It was simply us right below the enemy base being shot at by an Incendiary Band  + Titan. The impact force from the Vulcan as well as my positioning at the time made it hard for me to get in front of the Wasp and up the ramp to shock the defenders. We ended up dying there. That was when there were about 20 seconds left.

I usually friend request people that can work with you like that. Especially now that I have been maining with dictator now, its nice how your team will let you take the OD box, and know to use there overdrives before you buff them.

I have a friend that every time were in a MM battle together be both go nano bots isida and mammoth and take flags together :D

Do you play with friends?

That would make a difference, because you know how strong they are, how good they are, how they play, and that you can communicate with them,

With random players, you don't even know if they speak English, and at the hours I play English speakers are few. So stoping to write something is sometimes a waste of time, and when I stop I lose the situation awareness that is the basis of my play style. I'm not saying that I carry the teams, I just try to help the team the best possible way, and that could mean trying to cap/score, helping cap/score, preventing cap/scores, trying to make the team dominate, prevent the enemy from dominating and so on.

Sometimes others are chatting and coordinating, and I just do my thing or join them. Other times I tell them to stop chatting, if they aren't being effective and instead are causing distraction.

If I'm going after some enemy that's going with the ball and I get killed, that's okay because I'll have another chance after spawning, and it's even better when I'm using the Trooper drone.

I almost forgot, a big thank you to the Freeze that helped cool my tank a few times in a battle against two Compact Tanks Firebirds. I can't remember the last time a Freeze did that for me, even when I was burning up in front of their eyes with no enemies in sight.

It seems next to nobody knows that's even a possibility. Even on legend ranks maybe one out of 15 does it.

In a Solikamsk RGB, our team was doing a big push on the enemy. A Firebird + Dictator had the ball and had a clear path to score a touchdown. Instead, he passed the ball to me (a Dictator). I went to score and had 90% overdrive charge. I turn around and see the Dictator had its Overdrive charge ready from that touchdown assist. So he used it on 2 other teammates and I, then I used mine when we were in trouble again.

That small act helped us to survive longer in the enemy base for our other teammates to come back to score other touchdowns.

In MM battles, they are so short, I dont really see the need to worry about the team. Especially given the number of tanks that show up and just get wrecked the entire game...unfortunately the lack of battle length makes battles less blowout-ey but also removed the desire to care about winning
