Advice on improving my K/D?

Hornet-Rail with OD active says hello!     They are active everywhere, and there is no defense against them.

Sometimes I can get great K/Ds with it, but often I just feel like that kid in school who gets picked on by everyone. Not fun really.

Yeah, my Hornet M2 (2 or 3/10) has lower HP than my Wasp M1 (8/10). I only use it with my Railgun because of its Overdrive.

The main thing is that over 2/3 of your total gameplay hours are spent on light hulls and firebird. Those things die FAST, no matter how upgraded you are (Well maybe with a powerful drone and 50% modules you can live, like legend hornets do). I'd probably only use light hulls again if I am sure I have powerful protections, possibly a drone and a high MU amount on a m3.

Of course, if you purely want K/D you should get rail/gauss/shaft and just camp away, those things just oneshot enemies anyway and they won't even see you most of the time.

I get my best K/D's with wasp/thunder or wasp/fire combos.  My K/D is around 1.8 - 3.0 in different accounts.

I am not a buyer.  You need to learn to drive and shoot, dodge enemies and drive around enemy while shooting.  If you can master that you

will be master in no-time.   With wasp you can escape short range turrets while shooting them and with a help of mines.  Get protection to mid and long range turrets instead.  Speed and agility is your protection.  Stick with one combo only at the beginning.   Upgrade constantly both hull and turret to get advantage.  Later on wait for upgrade discounts to get value for your cry.

With fire/wasp you need to be active and constantly moving around.

With thunder/wasp you can have more versatile tactics.

Nah.   Now my default is Eagle/Falcon/Owl.   At long ranges Gauss is more deadly.

Anti-Camper module set!

When you spawn, your default should be to use armor. This will protect you from being instantly killed by a stray railgun or striker shot while also keep you from getting spawn killed quickly. Tanki gives out so many free supplies that you should be able to almost always activate armor.

Em… only when you see them.

Then just play Titan-Shaft, hide in a corner picking off the odd tank that passes your view, and drop a dome on yourself whenever you feel a slight shiver.

Seen too many of those lately.

Don't get Shaft.  Tanki seems to give less rewards for Shaft users sniping from a distance.

There arent any different rewards for any single turret/hull. Rewards hare given by amount of score which depends on kills, captures etc.

Hi GrayWolf,

Based on my experience, I've noticed that playing with light hull (Wasp and Hornet) usually end up giving people lower K/Ds. For mid sized and larger maps I'd suggest going with medium hulls (Hunter, Viking, Dictator) and heavy hulls (Titan and Mammoth) for smaller maps.

As for turrets again it comes down to the map. Mid ranged turrets like thunder, smoky, twins, ricochet and vulcan are the most versatile for the maps in tanki. Railgun, shaft, magnum and striker tend to do well on mid or larger maps.Short ranged turrets (Fire, Freeze, Isida, Hammer) usually tend to give a lower K/D unless the map is a small map.

Some general tips to improve your K/D in all maps are listed below.

1. Use supplies wisely. DA and DD used together can make your tank deadly and hard to kill. It can also help you kill multiple enemies. Place mines in places you think enemy tanks will pass.

2. If you're using mid or long ranged turrets make sure you get behind the safety of cover. Place mines near the entrances of where you think enemy tanks might come to shoot you. (Note: This might not work as well if enemy team has a lot of Magnums)

3. Use protection modules. Alter your protection modules to the turrets you see your enemies using. This improves your hull strength and will keep you alive longer.

4. Advisable to have some isidas and / or some dictators on your team. Dictator OD speeds up your OD as well, so this should help.

These tips are all based on my experience and the degree to which I rely on them is based on each situation I'm in. Using these tactics has helped me maintain a K/D greater than 2.5 thus far. Hope this helps.

Regards

BadTank

LOL I only install M4 Eagle and M2 2/10 Spider, that's why I have a bad K/D. Proud!

It's really not worth it to change your playstyle for your K/D if you don't want to. If you like firebird + light hull, keep it.

The single best thing you could do would be to start thinking about your supply order more.

Agreed.

Especially if you are still a low rank, learn how to drive and fight with your wasp. It will make you a better player when you get to higher ranks. Players who spam heavy hulls early on will have a higher k/d but perhaps not the driving and shooting skill you will have

I now use Firebird/Hunter, but what do you mean about the supply order? How I use my supplies?

Supply order is the who what when where why behind every supply. Now that matchmaking battles are seven minutes long, with most players taking the first part of that time to load in, It's more important than ever to be as strong as you can for as many of those minutes as you can. Correct supply order has numerous overall advantages such as your double armor not running out while you're crossing the bridge, double armor not being on cooldown when driving through a popular mine zone, having a longer duration left on your double damage when you make it to enemy spawn places, or maximizing the value of supply boxes you pick up.

The main goal of supply order is to come up to an enemy with one more supply active than they have. Doing that consistently alone, will improve the average K/D you are able to get, even when you are not focusing on it at all.

Although I don't believe in k/d but I agree that supply order really impacts your game. I see a lot of people spamming supplies like, SB after the spawn (even though the SB drop is 5 meters away from them) then DD shortly after that, this even reduces the chances of capping/scoring goals as well. If you see a SB supply 5 or 10 meters away, picking it up means you can activate both DD and DA together for a longer period and also using SB again if you happen to have the flag or ball which really helps a lot. Similarly, plan your attacking routes in such a way that you benefit most out of drop supplies.

Was mostly taking a shot at some of the selfish Shaft players I've been shackled to in Team battles...

Oh I got you. And yes I have been seeing a lot of those lately, they're a real pain to deal with.

yes, drugs, i had a story of really messing up K/D at Lieutenant ranks ~0.50 until I started caring. It truly takes passion to play current Tanki Online as a free to play if you really want to raise your K/D. Through past wars gave me a TON of supplies and premium weeks were awesome. It took me to Marshal rank to finally get back to 1.00. Keep playing!

Don't die and kill many => use supplies smartly

Don't rush in when you are wounded and low in power.

Attack in group, stay behind other tankers. Stay close to a teammate with a dictator, an Isida or or a Titan.

Kill wounded enemy, the weaker the better (target Wasp and Hornet). Use mass destruction turrets. Lays mines to strategic points, corridors and ramps.

Some maps and some combat modes are better than others, the one that creates meles/gathering around specific spots (flags, rugby ball, ...). Being in the dominant team is definitely a plus.
I did not even had the Jug. This map has a snipers alley, from the sides if the enemy team ignored to clean/secure these areas they will suffer heavy losses. During that time it gives you time to secure with mines your little nest (+ two key drops DD and DA).
