A way of telling if a Shaft has DD from a distance

Recommended Posts

I can tank a normal charged shot in my Titan, but without DA I die in one hit to a shot using DD or Hornet's OD. The OD is obvious, the entire hull has a little ripple effect, but DD isn't so obvious unless you happen to see the red flash when they activate it.

All I propose is perhaps a slight red tint to the turret, maybe  the laser could visibly cackle with electricity to show this is a big juicy shot you don't want to be in front of.

Hmm, I understand the concern. But what about LCR Railguns? Those things don't have as much damage as Shaft but they can one-shot heavy hulls. As a light hull, you could be far away and see them charging up. You think you're safe with your 50% Railgun protection, but behold, you are still one-shotted.

Actually what was said above didn't make much sense considering that Shaft is one of a kind in terms of what you're asking for.

I think the laser is enough to know not to even be in front of it, especially as a medium or light hull. You take a risk with being in front of any innately high-damage turret.

I do not see it as necessary. Shaft already has plenty of checks - laser, the fact that in sniping mode it is basically a sitting duck and by the fact that most camping positions can be accessed from multiple locations leaving it vulnerable.

Besides there are other turrets like Railgun, Magnum or Gauss that can easily do deathly damage without being even remotely visible so it would not be fair to make Shaft the only recipient of such nerf.

Nah. But if you happen to see a Shaft pop a Double Power, a red glow will animate less than a second.

Magnum and Gauss, sure. But Railgun has its iconic charge-up visible at the end of its barrel when a shot is about to be fired.

For as long as anybody can remember, the visible charge-up of Railgun has always been a queue to get out of the way.

So yeah, I don't agree with Railgun being not "remotely visible" considering you can tell that Railgun is about to fire before it actually does so. A stark contrast to other turrets where by the time you see the muzzle flash, you've already been hit.

True, but you have to be near the Railgun or facing it directly. Much like Gauss it can easily sneak up on people from afar and one shot them.

It depends, if the Railgun user is in open space then you can certainly tell when he/she's going to shoot. But if he/she's hiding behind the cover then you can't tell when it will shoot OR you don't even have 1 sec to retaliate.  "Pre-Load" thing is pretty common among Railgun users and it is not very hard to learn, I am also able to shoot you within a fraction of a sec when you see my charge-up.

One thing you can do if you survive is to shoot back before it hides. Meanwhile, you can't do that to a Shaft because you're more likely done within one-shot.
