Mammoth's overdrive and new update

Hello tankers!
 
Last Saturday, many of you spent a lot of time on the special Halloween map. And of course, you witnessed (or maybe you were part of) the invasion of Mammoth goldbox hunters.
 
It’s time to deal with this issue, so with tomorrow’s server restart, on October 31st at 02:00 UTC, we’ll be implementing some important balance changes to Overdrives and Alterations.
 
Mammoth
 
Mammoth’s overdrive will no longer make it invincible. This means that while its overdrive is active, Mammoth will not be immune from damage and physical impact.
 
However, to compensate for taking away invincibility, we’ll be adding some other useful features. 
 
When you activate Mammoth’s overdrive, your hit points will instantly be restored, and any freezing and burning effects will be removed. Moreover, Wasp’s bomb overdrive will no longer deactivate Mammoth’s overdrive. Additionally, overdrive duration will be increased to 7 seconds, and its speed boost will be increased to 40%.
 
Hunter
 
Electromagnetic impulse distance will be reduced from 30 to 25 meters. Activation delay time will be increased by 10% while effect duration will be decreased by 10%. Overall, Hunter’s overdrive will be nerfed.
 
Wasp
 
Just one change, which we’ve already told you about above. Wasp’s overdrive will no longer deactivate Mammoth’s overdrive.
 
Freeze’s alteration «Shock freeze»
 
Damage penalty will be decreased from 50% to 30%, freezing speed will be 3X faster, instead of 2X as before. This means that with this alteration, Freeze will freeze opponents faster, and lose less damage than before.
 
Striker’s alteration «Missile launcher “Hunter”»
 
Maximum projectile speed penalty will be removed. Projectiles will be as fast as without this alteration.
 
Striker’s alteration «Missile launcher “Cyclone”»
 
Aiming time penalty will be decreased from 40% to 30%.
 
Striker’s alteration «Missile launcher “Uranium”»
 
Decreased number of projectiles to 2.
 
Striker’s alteration «Remote rocket explosives»
 
Max projectile speed limit of 350 m/s will be added.
 
Vulcan’s alteration «Reinforced aiming transmission»
 
Vertical auto aim penalty will be cut by 50% to make Vulcan more effective on multi-level maps when using this alteration.
 
Vulcan's alteration «Shooting speed regulator»
 
Damage per second penalty will be decreased by ¼ to 15%.
 
Other changes
 
We continue to develop and polish the new HTML5 version of the game.
 
Tomorrow, October 31st, we’re finally adding the feature for control remapping. Moreover, the new HTML5 version will also start working in browsers that support version 1 of WebGL technology, not just the second version. This means that more players will be able to enjoy our new HTML5 version, even those who play on outdated PCs.

ETA: Ha, reduces to 25 meters and not increased to 50 (LOL);  we are saved. A good change then :)

Mammoth is like a buffed version of Dictator's OD :D.

I have to say given the recent circumstances I wasn't expecting this to happen despite all the negative comments regarding Mammoth, great to see!

 

Also nice to see custom controls, finally no more accidental golds.

I have a question.

Does Wasp's Bomb & Meteorite Strike kills the Mammoths if they have overdrive?

Ok i might ruin everyones fun now but what about titan? he can still survive a meteorite?

Thanks for doing something with mammoth but titans are going to dig now

Mammoth's Overdrive already takes away freezing and afterburn though.  :huh:

 

Physical impact nerf would be something to get used to. Kind of sucks that Wasp's bomb won't deactivate it anymore. Unless their intention is to allow the bomb to kill it while the Overdrive is active, since it's no longer invincible.

Overall, that sounds like a nerf to its survivability. Sounds like it could still be one-shotted by a Shaft, Railgun, Magnum or Gauss while it has it activated. Wasp's bomb doesn't deactivate it but it sure sounds like it'll kill it anyway.

Hmm, let's see how Hunter performs. Cyclone would be a bit better. 

 

Uranium will now need to focus on one-by-one shots. 

 

I guess Remote Rocket Explosives didn't have enough of a drawback. 

 

Vulcan’s alteration «Reinforced aiming transmission»

 

Vertical auto aim penalty will be cut by 50% to make Vulcan more effective on multi-level maps when using this alteration.

 

Vulcan's alteration «Shooting speed regulator»

 

Damage per second penalty will be decreased by ¼ to 15%.

Very nice for Reinforced Aiming Transmission. Wasp Vulcan will now be better to play with with driving facing towards the enemy. 

 

But that change to SSR jumps it closer to Stock Vulcan's damage. Idk, it feels like that damage decrease shouldn't be that low for what it can do. I wonder if @wolverine848 will give it a try now.

3x is a lot. That's being frozen in 1 second or maybe even 3 ticks. But that's just the hull. Turrets should still have a chance to fight against it.

Well Titans didn't have much of a chance for catching it since Mammoth's Overdrive ignores Titan's dome. It would be kind of unfair for heavy hulls having to sit back and not be able to catch any golds because they're too slow to get to the marker fast enough before the Hornet, Wasps and Vikings get to it.

The range has been decreased from 30 to 25 meters. Main post is edited now.

Now we need a Freezing alteration for Freeze, now that Shock Freeze will be like the old Shock Freeze.

 

Also rename Freeze as Cooler.

 

I don’t think the Mammoth changes are good. I think it will be too OP. But let’s see.

 

 

PS. After all the Freeze changes, altered Freezes got a small buff, namely half a second more of energy without negatives.

The fact that it's not invincible anymore makes it far from OP. We'll have to wait and see exactly how it plays out, but by how they worded the change, turrets can damage it like any other hull, and Wasp would be able to kill it anyway if the Mammoth can't get out in time. 

 

There was no mention of damage protection like Titan's dome.

will the HTML5 version support WEBGL1 or what when they said ... the version 1 of WEBGL?

please tell me

The current version of HTML5 only supports WebGL 2 which is only available on modern computers. With this update WebGL 1 will be supported which means players with older computers can play as well.

I don't think they will be as much of an issue. They aren't invincible and they don't kill anything they touch. We'll have to see.

It's been gathering dust in my garage since 2 weeks after I bought it.  Might give it a try again.

 

 

As for Hunter...

 

I get that many ppl were not happy with it's range... and nerfing that a little is not end of world.

But increasing the activation delay even more?  :wacko:  Why?  So it can fail more often?  Only OD that can really "fail"...
