 Not useless, just less useful. Just because M2 Thunder is a direct upgrade from M1 Thunder doesn't mean Thunder M1 is useless. 

 

Camper allows you to get less intense effects than Hyperion but for the benefit of less supplies and batteries used overall. So from what i'm seeing here, it's like Camper is Stock Railgun while Hyperion is LCR Railgun. LCR gets more damage (better effects) but a longer reload (more supplies and batteries being used to operate it).

 

The drone feels unnecessary to me, but as we can see, it's a confirmed endgame feature as it unlocks at . I use Hornet mostly up there, so I guess it's up to me and other Hornets to deal with them the most efficiently.

LCR has a longer recharge and longer shot delay, this drone has only benefits and no drawbacks with comparison to Camper/Assault - aside from increased cost. If you are a buyer increased cost is a non-issue, so this comes back to it being purely P2W.

It is in one sense an end-game feature, but it's more of a pay-to-win feature as non-buying Legends won't be able to afford to run it. It's more a case of extending the power of buyers to Legend ranks also - in the mid-ranks buyers have more power over non-buyers with their more highly upgraded/higher modification equipment - but at Legend, repair kit/battery availability aside, non-buyers and buyers were on an even platform (albeit that it took more time for non-buyers to get there). Now buyers will objectively be stronger.

It's simply very boring, with comparison to other drones. There is nothing interesting or novel about having a faster supply cooldown with no drawbacks.

They said a fully-upgraded Hyperion would reduce the cooldown to 0, effectively giving you 2 repair kits back-to-back. 

Then it is as I say, ridiculously OP for buyers vs lower ranks.

No. I am not saving real money because I am not a real money buyer for Tanki Online. What I am saving is crystals for buying micro upgrades in Tanki Online. I bet that Black Friday 2019 will be epic and hopefully should introduce the new Hover hull, Ares.

If you are a Marshall facing a well-equipped, good Legend, you are screwed in the long run.  This drone is the least of your worries.  

 

It all comes down to the details of the costs and benefits.  As someone who uses drones almost all the time and has M4 garage with exception of a few stupid drones, this drone doesn't worry me.  It does not sound exceptionally more powerful than Defender, if at all.  If someone has to use 10 RKs to kill me and they are willing to do that, so be it.  I'll just take freeze and keep them alive forever and stuck in one place or some combination that can one shot them. 

 

I likely will get it when it is released unless the upfront/upgrade/supply usage cost is exorbitant but that is just because I have almost 2,000,000 crystals with nothing to spend them on.

 

I'll admit it does sound like there is possibility to take it to a parkour war level which only strangely damaged people enjoy.  Maybe it will be so expensive the only people that can regularly use it are people with 9,999,999,999 crystal YouTube accounts.  May make great god mode content.

 

Camper is indeed generally stupid for normal MM.  Here are drones that some of top 350 Legends actually use (last 2 weeks) and many strong Legends don't regularly use drones at all.

Again, comparatively, it's not useless. It's just less useful. The drone sounds like a jack of all trades. Has a little of the drones you specified, but not a master of any.

I used that specific comparison because it was akin to Stock/Altered turret and 2 different modifications of a turret.  

 

M2 is objectively better than M1. Every parameter has a positive change. None of them have negative changes. Alterations have both positive and negative changes, which is exactly what Hyperion is to Camper. It has a positive change in that its effect and activation method are more efficient than Camper's, but at the cost of increased battery and supply consumption, which is the negative change. 

 

As mentioned above by myself and you, the drone's drawback is that it the supply consumption is increased. That there is the drawback. Won't make a difference for DA, DD, SB and Mines, but it's gonna be a suction cup for repair kits and batteries, which are more valuable. 

 

And clearly here, it's benefitting the devs, as they're going to be buying more supply kits to refill batteries and repair kits for it. It depends on how much of a buyer you are.

I agree here. Perhaps they need more monetary features in the upper ranks.

Assault drone often scores better than any other drone in a full length game and really can work in any mode.   With it you are generally a bit campy and trying to do steady killing.  With about 25 kills in a game you can have full drugs almost continuously.  However, if the game ends early this is likely not the best scorer.

 

Defender is best for CTF/RGB capping and CP too if points are hotly contested.

 

For juggernaut, I generally use Booster and sometimes Driver or Blaster.

 

I personally rarely use Saboteur.  It is undeniably effective but generally scores low and it is not my style to defend generally.

 

I have been surprised booster usage hasn't dropped since it went from 5s to 3s.  I think for a lot of people it is their only strong drone so they have stuck with it.

It didn't kill it but it did make a huge difference.  Before the nerf I used it almost exclusively.  Now, I only use it for juggernaut and sometimes DM.

I already see so many people on full supplies that I start to question what even was the point of the Cooldowns. I mean they introduced them because they recognized the problem that supplies posed was huge, but their updates kind of contradict each other.
