In episode 229 of the V-LOG, we showed you the newly-redesigned Viking Thunder Prime — the cool one with new effects and animations.

 

This Prime skin is not just a more detailed, higher-polygon model. It also has some cool features, including a recoil animation while firing, smoke from the shot, exhaust gas from the turret and engine, and even redesigned tracks that you can actually see through.

 

We also told you that you’ll be able to buy the Viking and Thunder Prime skins during our Black Friday 2019 event.

 

Here’s how that will work:

 

During the three days of Black Friday celebration, you’ll be able to buy Viking Prime OR Thunder Prime for 12 hours at a time. So, during the first half of the day, you can buy one skin, and during the second half of the day, you can buy the other skin. And so on, for all three days.

 

The skins will appear in the new Showcase.

 

So, to clarify, you’ll have multiple opportunities to get both skins throughout the three days of celebrations.

 

If you’re still on the Flash version, you can get the skins from the Shop.

 

But that’s not the only way you can get them.

 

If you already own Viking or Thunder Prime from one of our challenges, it will automatically be updated to the new skin. You won’t need to lift a finger! And those of you who played Tanki X and activated the special promo code in Tanki Online, will also receive it.

 
There’s also a chance of getting them as random drops from Containers, just like any other skin.

 

So, it’s up to you how you wanna get hold of the newly-redesigned Viking Thunder Prime. All we can say is, it’s definitely worth getting!

And some people (such as myself) don't use Thunder and Viking, hence don't need it or have use for it.

Honestly cheaper than I anticipated, was expecting closer to 20k... are they worth it? To be honest, not really

 

I have the TX promo and tested the skins out in the game, they are beautiful   They’re greatly detailed and look very sophisticated for this game. Now why aren’t they worth it? I think because of the higher polygon count, the paints look “zoomed out” or a smaller texture is used, so the paint’s pattern is very clear in almost all paints... in otherwords they look like ugly wall papers which just ruin the skins. Even the animated paints look bad, as the patterns are small and only emphasizes the flaw. Also 11700 Tankoins is ~100 USD so 200 USD for the set (thats like a weeks worth of pay for a minimum wage job in the US) Its ALOT for just a set of skins  but “worth the money” when compared to the XT bundles that were 100 a pop back when they were being made... they’re  not overpriced when compared to previous releases but its still hideous

 

Its up to those who have the money and like the skins, but beware of the way the paints look and the risk factor in buying something at that price... Ive said this a lot but I don’t trust them anymore and alot of people don’t as well , so be careful what you buy because you’ll never know when they’ll shut down this game for good (common sense)

In my opinion, the zoomed-out effect that the new skins have on Paints just do not work. Today, I saw a person with Firebird/Viking Prime/Not A Lantern. The Firebird had the normal pattern, but the Viking had the paint in that zoomed-out pattern which did not look good in this case.

Yeah, some paints like Roger will benefit from this, but others like Synesthesia (which is already a jumbled mess) will just make the tank look indistinguishable from a distance.

Maybe someone who has almost all of the paints and has the Prime skins should make a video showcasing how they look on the new skins.

Someone's posted some images / gifs in the drone mechanics etc. thread

I was seeing how some of the paints might look by turning a 512x512 texture in to a 1024x1024 texture by cloning the 512x512 four times and applying to the .pdo files in Pepakura, reducing the size of the tiling. I don't like how a lot of them look, which is a shame, but I can see why it's been done because the alternative is making higher resolution versions of every paint.

The main problem is not how the paints look on the Viking prime hull, but the aesthetic crime when combining both resolutions in one tank. As I like the upgraded Viking prime hull very much, and combine it with any turret, I have become a unicolour player now. Black and white.
