Several battles with poor GS balancing between teams

With the (most probably) unintentional unequipping of protection modules after the M-Mk conversion, I noticed that MM somehow placed players with no protection on one team and players with protection on the other. The GS difference was clearly visible. I happen to be placed on the team with no protection most of the time and my teams were thoroughly spawnkilled as a result. it was bad and I had the thought that this unintentional happening exposed a possible flaw in the MM system. 

 

That was on the day of the update and the day after that. Now, there are much more players re-quipping their protection modules and the battles have certainly become better and more fair. But I was surprised to see such a distribution, and it happened with different players. It's the fact that is was consistent and not a one-time thing that was concerning.

On my low ranked account, I was put into a battle where the enemies had upwards of 8000 or more GS.  WO2 with a GS of 3000ish up against a team of 8000ish. Let that sink in.

 

So we obviously got squashed big time.

It's a feature. MM balances your wins and losses to make you play more, since losing will make you want to play again. 

I believe that WoT has a similar MM system, but their community is too stupid to add two and two together.

How significant is the difference? Also, could it be that MM balances not just by current GS, but by garage contents, previous battles, overall K/D, supply use, and a bunch of other factors we don't know about.

Did of those battles end up being even or won by the disadvantaged team, despite the GS difference?

I agree with @Maf, a MM battle created only based on GS is not adequate. You can start queuing with all your M0 Mk1 equipped in the hope to trick the system. and once in battle get you shinny Mk7+. 

The combo choice is a direct driver to your GS in battle, if players chose a lower GS to get a specific strategy is not MM responability.

 

So no GS is not MM related (at least not directly). I have been place in many different battle with many different GS pattern. Strong GS with noob behind the stirring wheel and weak GS with the highest battle score. MM just mix all this ingredient and stir it, team strength will vary from one batch to another, this is online game. You will probably notice more when your team loose and the gs are low on your side. If you are a skilled player target the highest GS and make hos life a misery so its OP equipment is not used to its full strength.

 You can play game with bots or on story mode if you feel uncomfortable with the idea of MM online.
