Tanki needs a little conservatism

Hornet has two ways to to deal with Viking:

 

· It can wait till Vikings OD wears off and then strike. The positive is that it's less risky, the downside is that it probably already dismantled a good amount of the hornets team.

 

OR

 

· It can strike while Vikings OD is activated. The benefit is that you saved your team from mayhem, the downside is that you put yourself at risk to do so.

 

For the hornet, it's only a matter of weighing it's options.

 

Viking ain't going anywhere for those 7 seconds, because it can't if it doesn't want to waste the OD.

Good points and take on these OD's. The thing with hornet is that it doesn't have much of a health bar so not dying is also a priority if you want to have the maximum effectiveness from the OD. So I usually prioritize playing it safe and staying alive as a hornet.

You're not getting far with Stock Railgun unfortunately. 

The high caliber alt is definetely a good alt for rail, but as a broke f2p, I don't have that alt. I still consistently get 3 stars tho ))

Low health is the only setback that hornet has. But let's say that set back is removed, then what?

The same means Hornet has to remove that setback is the same means every other hull has. 

 

The other setbacks to Hornet come passively, just like the HP, with its low weight coupled relatively bad traction. Can be knocked around easily and if it's getting away, it's harder to turn sharp corners and high impact force turrets can push you into walls for easier access to the team to destroy. It's no surprise people use the Overdrive from far away or from a distance where that would be minimised,  i.e one-shot or high damaging turrets that can deal their damage from range.

Using it with melee turrets is risky, as it involves you getting close to the enemies, putting your life at great risk due to low HP. People optimise based on what the Overdrives do. That's why some combos from the past are no longer seen as commonly as now. They just don't synergise well with the Overdrive compared to others. 

 

It's hell trying to utilise Hornet's Overdrive with Isida. You're easily knocked around and your cone angle is the smallest of the melee turrets, meaning you lose aim much more easily. It pays off better to use it with Firebird or Freeze, which have gimmicks that can help them in tough scenarios like the one explained before. And then you go further and say it pays off better to use it with a ranged weapon. You deal good damage and you can do it without much of the innate fear of dying before dealing good damage or any damage at all. 

 

I see this just the same as using Vulcan with Viking's overdrive compared to using Thunder or Smoky with Viking's Overdrive. One deals more damage overall and deals it faster. With Hornet, one deals the same if not more damage, but safer.

Remove hornet's low health and you essentially have viking, which is why vikings can attack more easily and succeed while hornets seem to play the skirmisher role best

Yeah, can't forget that lol. I mean, I think it's fairly balanced anyways, when you compare it to the other OD. I also remember when hornet OD was only the scout thing and it was super useless.

Only scout thing? What do you mean? Hornet's overdrive has always been what it is now...it was the one I was most excited about when they announced it

Unless I have really bad memory, when OD's were first released, hornet didn't have the increased damage. Well, if they did, then my bad lmao.

Not increased damage...ah...I looked at your profile. The second ability is less noticeable at your rank bc fewer ppl are always using supplies or have 35-50% against your turret. Overdrives came out a year ago, or close to it? Idk. Regardless you will appreciate the ignoring or protection more when you rank up and see that everyone has 50% against you

Ohh, I understand what you mean. Completely forgot that hornet ignores titan OD and protections. I play with hornet on a warrant officer account, so it's even lowered rank lol.
