How long before this game's demise?

Beyond all the trash that has been piled up in this game, we had bad upgrade porting that made everything more expensive and created a huge "temporary" gap in player power, and now challenges being made more expensive, how far do you think this game will fall? We have seen what happened to TX. Now I'm just waiting to see when this game meets the same fate. Really, it's bound to if it won't do anything drastic to make the game less p2w, but at the current state of the game, that seems like a pretty definitive no; Alternativa Games have dug a hole too deep they can't get out of. Now I'm just eagerly awaiting its downfall, you can forget about me ever playing this game again, and I suggest you do the same too. May be we can already start making predictions as to when this game is going to get a full server shut-down due to diminishing profits and playerbase. My guess would be some time in 2023. Your thoughts?

Um I don't believe the game's in that bad of a situation now, you juts have a mix of good updates and some not-so-good updates.

Just take it easy and try to have fun. If you're feeling burnt out take a break until you're better, and always try to play when you're in a good mood, I've noticed it does improve my performance when I don't take the game too seriously.

2030 probably even before that

If the game is still acitve any time around that, hats off to TO. It's not easy keeping a game alive for 20ish years. But then again, alot of players already consider the game to be dead...

And yet you can log in at any point and see that it is indeed alive and well.

I don't think the game will die at all.  Buyers that have invested so much money and spent so much time developing a full garage will continue as long as possible.  Tanki may have to do some adjustments as the player base diminishes, like 6 vs 6 or much lower criterion for MM to generate a game in off hours, but Tanki will keep chugging along.  Hell, they have it in their power to just dump toxic Matchmaking,  If they did that, I bet their numbers would go up dramatically.  MM is the limiting factor for a small player base...just like what's about to happen to the Latin servers.  MM killed the 10K 15K player Latin community (now it's like 450 players on at peak times).  If Tanki ha stopped MM, the Latin servers would still be viable.  They couldn't stop MM because they know if they did a huge percentage of EU players would just play on Latin servers.  But now all players are about to be on EU servers, there would be no problem killing MM.  They won't of course until players at peak times get to a critically low number (my guess would be 3-4 thousand) since MM seems to be PonyTailBoy's pet project.

The only real threat to Tanki is if AP thinks they have a new project that will make them more money...kinda like that KingKiller or whatever Fortnite clone it is they are working on.

The thing is, a "dead" game is different in every players perspective. A ton of my friends consider Fortnite to be dead, but of course there are still numerous players still playing the game, not as much as they once were in the earlier seasons tho. It's the same case with TO. Let's just hope that they release some likable updates soon. And MM, every other game you play is unbalanced, as in, dominated by another team. And a good amount of the games just turn into 8v4s...

Player have been making prediction since 2010 (after some major update, hum, weird right).

It will be dead when it take a minute to get into a battle (at peak time).

"Tank is dead scene" take 20234 and counting

The players who consider the game dead compare it to TO's most popular days.

But dead is compared to being alive. So if the game is alive and well with right now 15,000 ppl playing it, then even if their were 38k 7 years ago, its still not dead, just fewer players playing

Yeah. let's just hope that it doesn't go below that.

Bruh this game started dying in late 2015 when they introduced Premium accounts.

Not really, they had score multipliers and xp multipliers before that, which were essentially the same thing.

I'd say about 5 years. There are already subtle shifts in the gaming industry that are moving away from MTX-heavy models. I do not believe that Tanki will last to 2030, because as shown with 2019, player counts have dropped dramatically. A single year ago we had around 30k+ peak. Now, we haven't hit 20k during the weekend.

(begin rant)

Of course, the developers will continue to listen to the heavy buyers and "my weapon isn't strong buff it" whiners (that's how we got Firebird's current afterburn mechanic), and add garbage features like Overdrives, but it will bite them back someday. Hard.

Modern TO youtubers have zero creativity in their videos, just like most of YouTube.

Tanki added stupid crap like battlepass, which doesn't even give you anything. Isn't the whole purpose to buy is to SKIP the grind at the expense of skill/awesome battles/friends you might have have had on the way?

In the past, you drugged to win and be the boss of the battlefield. Now you drug if you wanna live more than five freaking seconds.

"But drugs are balanced since everyone has them!!11"

True, but at what cost? Log into Tanki, go use MM, and tell me if the resulting 7 minute battle had any exiting gameplay. Spoiler alert, it didn't, and was filled with drugspam and the most utterly boring game play imaginable, unless you've spent 50 bucks on a kit.

In the past, team battles were filled with people with different objectives, but one goal was certain. They wanted to WIN! Now, we don't even have that even ground because of Stars.

I might be talking from nostalga, but I won't forget that many popular maps at the time were horrible, like Noise and that jump hackers would steal golds.

The only reason why Tanki is still alive is because of Challenges and the poorly thought out updates.

(end rant)

At least Tanki isn't owned by Blizzard, look at the Warcraft III fiasco.

Nope... Most of them end in < 7 min and are 5-0 blowouts.

But apparently that's GOOD for tanki  ?

Don't forget when it turns into 4v8...

True - that's how half the battles start now.

The hornet/wasps with Trooper drone making first cap before all of enemy team has loaded.

A bang-up job!

Yeah, and by the end, it's like a 8v4 every battle. Very balanced.

It's to get you to play more. You lose= more likely to play another game to make up for the "loss"  If all battles were balanced, you will play less, and that's bad for $$$. WoT has a similar system, but their community is dumb as a box of rocks and hasn't really figured it out yet. (to be fair though, Hazel did tell us in the grand stream back in June)

Honestly I think that the game is in that awkward phase where it isn't modern but it isn't like, old style (if you know what I mean?). I think that if they don't do something to keep it in either one or another, the game will die quicker than you'd think.

Tonight ive played i think 7 ctf games...6 have been 5-0 with me losing 5 of those.

The one battle my team won 5-0, 3rd place on the other team had 0 points. Nice job TO!

Yeah, close matches with fairly well-balanced teams are a rare phenomenom now.
